Home Building
$270,000
Hired this man to build our Dream house.  He promised
to complete it in approximately 4 to 6 months.  We broke ground in August
of 2005.  A couple of months into the build all work came to a screeching
halt because Ed Grey (owner of Mill Creek Builders) took on a job doing an
addition on another house.  7 months into the build we still did not have
a roof on our house for which he had been paid to have done. He showed up
with his hand out asking for more money and because he was running way over
budget we asked him to account for how he had spent our money to date. He
went off on a tangent, screaming and yelling that we were calling him a thief
and stormed off the job stating that he would never come back.
We were very fortunate to have found another builder that was willing to
complete our house.  In a way we were very lucky that Ed Grey walked off
the job, because some of the work he did had to be torn down and rebuilt
because it was not done correctly.  We ended up with a 15 x 35 foot
interior room with a basement under it that was supposed to be an
open covered porch.  This was a major structural change to our house
that was not approved by us or the Berkeley County Building Department.
Once our house was completed we had numerous windows and a couple doors left
over and still sitting in our basement.   There was an $1800.00 French door
for a 6 inch exterior wall; our house has 4 inch exterior walls. All the
windows and doors on my house were ordered by Ed Grey/Mill Creek Builders.
Our ?dream" house turned into a ?nightmare" house
because of Ed Grey/Mill Creek Builders.  Thanks to another builder we
finally got our "dream" house.

Hired this man to build my dream house. He promised to complete it in 4 to 6 months. After he started our house he took on another job and put our house on hold. 7 months into the build there was no roof on our house for which he had been paid to have done. He made a major structural change to the house without our permission or the approval of the building department in our county. He was running way over budget and when we asked him to account for how he had spent our money, he went off on a tangent, screaming and yelling that we were calling him a thief and stormed off the job stating that he would never come back. Luckily we were able to find another contractor to take over the build and we moved into our house almost a year after it was started. To date, we are still redoing defective areas of inferior workmanship performed by this man. We also have 8 windows and 2 doors in our basement that there is no place on our house for them to go.
