They are still in the process of doing the renovation.  Have been excellent throughout and I don't expect any change prior to the completion of the job.  I will get back on this site when job is finished.

The contractor I picked had just and quot;retiredand quot; and picked a partner to handle his business. Even though he was voted Best Contractor/Builder in 2012, that was all based on his long reputation in our area and not the reputation of his new partner who quoted and took over my project. From April through September 2013, and it's still ongoing, we have gone through more then anyone could have ever expected and that is not a good thing. Early on in our project, when the roof was compromised, a large thunderstorm came up and leaked into our bedroom/bathroom area 2/3rds of the way into the rooms. When I spoke to the contractor I was told all would be made as new. When the actual work was performed, this was not the case and I constantly had to intervene to ensure new insulation was placed where the old was soaked, new carpeting was done (even though they did order and had installed the wrong carpet that I had to order myself and have installed later). The wall between the new build out and our room had to be replaced as pat of our remodel but other things like the ceiling drywall was not replaced and I am waiting for stains to show through the paint even though I was promised a 5-year guarantee that it would not leak through.

All the items were ordered incorrectly from the windows and doors to carpet and other items to include the tile in addition to shortages and all my cabinetry was ordered incorrectly to include the mirrors and cabinet fronts style.. The 1st subcontractor they sent to do the tile was overwhelmed by the project and only finished 1/2 and his boss had to come to finish it but not to anyone's satisfaction. Unfortunately I'm embarrassed to show this work to anyone and am much less happy to pay for it but we will and plan to contact Holmes on Holmes or someone on the HGTV network to see if he or someone from their network could make this right. It's so crazy to pay for something you don't even know if it might be leaking under our house, based on what they did above the floor that we can see, it scares me to see what's under the floor.

While our remodel was in progress, a house across from us was completed from start to finish along with an outside assembled toy set with swings for their kids. We also had an in-ground swimming pool installed and built our own fence that no one else was willing to touch with a ten-foot pole after we contacted them because they said it was too hard. This was done within two months of the completion of the pool and we have had and passed our final inspection on our swimming pool and our other bathroom/closet remodel is STILL not finished. Because of the partner they hired/fired.

I do not feel I should have to pay them the balance of roughly $3600 due to these issues but according to them, they have spent about $70K on this project and being behind (though no fault of mine) makes it a necessity they collect the full price. I suggested a 10% discount since this work has been going on since April 2013 and we have been inconvenienced by being unable to use our bedroom/bathroom during the entire remodel doe to the early and unexpected/unnecessary leak because of where they cut the roof off before the storm and the lack of coverage to keep rain from coming into our home. Additionally it was expected and according to the contract that the work would be completed in a timely fashion that I consider to be within 3 months.

Due to the ongoing and many required fixes that will need to be done before we can agree to pay this bill in it's entirely, it will be a long time before I will feel any goodwill toward this contractor for any work on any thing they have done. I have to admit it's been better since I'm working with the owner of GAB-L rather than his partner Daniel but even so, the work is not done satisfactorily. It's amazing what they expect to be acceptable. I suppose a handyman's certificate in WV is all you need to do the punch out lists of any project in this area for GAB-L.

I'm sorry but I expect a knowledgeable contractor or subcontractor to come by my place to finish out any work at the end since it's all being done haphazardly. I'm all about getting things done quickly and well and I asked the last gentleman if his wife would approve of his and quot;fixand quot; and he said and quot;probably notand quot; so it that's the case then do it right, do it so your spouse or whomever would approve. I felt he was trying to prove a point against the tile guy but that's not my problem, just fix the darn thing so it looks decent and move on...!

They showed up on time, they did what they were supposed to do and they did it in a timely manner with very delays at all. In the construction industry, they always have delays for one thing or another, but they kept them to a minimum. They did what they were supposed to do. I am retired from the construction business so I know what is going on. So I would say A in pretty much every category.
