Upon the arrival of Tommy (the owner), he apologized for the delay, stating that he was dealing with his sister who had health issues all week. I realized then, that I was lied to, not just inconvienenced. He was polite and knew his trade. He explained to my why the tree was dead and what to expect and what my options were with pricing. I said we'd go ahead with his services and asked when we could expect him to come out and cut the tree down and grind the stump. He said, "two to three weeks." He informed me he was doing a job for the city at the cemetary and wasn't sure when he'd be done. I asked if I would be called and he said yes. It didn't happen that way. I called on October 14th and spoke to his wife. She said they were still busy and I would be called. Please note that the number listed also doubles as their home number. It's very awkward. Then I got called late evening on Sunday (10/20) to tell me he would be here "some time" this week. I told her this was unacceptable. I informed her I would not be available on Thursday or Friday and he could just not show up whenever he wanted. I also informed her that I would need to be called a day before he shows up. She said okay and hung up. Now, this tree has a power line running through it to our elderly neighbor's house behind us. It's the main reason I wanted the tree looked at. I don't want our tree to be the cause of her not having power this winter. The owner said it wouldn't be a problem, but I just had to check today. So I called our power company today, not having recieved a called from the owner's wife saying they were going to be here tomorrow. I was told I would be contacted in 3 to 5 days by the forestry department to see about the tree and power line and they would have to do a service interruption to the line to keep anyone from being electrocuted. Made sense to me. Apparently, the owner had called to put in the service call. I got a voicemail at 6 pm tonight from the owner, informing me that he would be here at 8 am tomorrow. He didn't ask. He didn't request a call back. He told me. So I called back at 6:02 pm. It rang at least 2 dozen times. Finally, their answering machine kicked in. I left a message saying I put in a ticket with the power company and he couldn't come out tomorrow until they did their process for his safety. They have not called me back.
