Not good. I needed a shorter tank because of the vent going downhill. They stayed the measurements for a gas tank but still wasn't short enough so I had to install an electric tank which I did not want to do. Then went online to Lowe's found the same exact water tank in gas, that would have been short enough.

I would never have believed I would be sitting down to write a review like this for Kanawha Valley Maintenance.  We have used them numerous times over the years for all our heating, cooling and plumbing needs.  (We have had a plumber of theirs to our house on at least 3 occasions for the same leak even.)  So when I awoke Friday morning, February 26th, to find our heat out, it was they I called to try to get help.  On such short notice I really did not count on their being able to do it.  And I would have completely understood if they had not had time to take the job.  We are not their only customer.  We are not even a blip on their radar.  So I was pleasantly surprised when they said they could do it.  I was then not at all surprised to find the heat working when I got home Friday.  Another good review on Angie's list.  Or so I thought.
The problem started Tuesday evening, March 8th, when we noticed the heat was again out.  No problem.  These things happen.  I understand and was happy to give them an opportunity to take care of it.  My wife called them Wednesday morning as she was the one who would have to leave work early to meet them.  She was told we we out of luck that day.  I was disappointed with this.  As I said, had they not had time to take the job to begin with, I would have totally understood.  But when a repair they made lasts only 4 days, I would think a company would go a little above and beyond to try to see what happened.  But, as they said they would come the next day, it was not that big a deal.
Thursday my wife leaves work early and waits.  And they did indeed send someone but "the truck was too big to make it up the driveway".  I wanted to ask why he couldn't just park the truck at the bottom of the driveway and walk up, but didn't.  I was told by the lady in the office that next day, Friday, he or someone would be back in a smaller truck.  So again my wife leaves early and waits.  I get home and wait.  Nothing.  Not even the courtesy to call and tell us they would not make it!!  My wife and I sitting in our house like fools waiting for a technician that never showed.
I cannot convey how disappointed I am with Kanawha Valley Maintenance for treating a customer this way.  I was not asking them to come back for free.   And again I cannot stress enough had they not had time for us to begin with I would have been fine with that.  And I realize as well they were booked the days in question.  But  I cannot believe a company would not go the extra mile to fix an issue they already started.  And it's not like it would have required some herculean effort.  Would it have killed someone to work over 1 hour 1 day for this?  We ended up having to call a company with emergency hours to fix this Sunday and he was not there an hour even.
I am just so disappointed.  Shame on Kanawha Valley Maintenance.  Shame on the owner for allowing this to happen.
(Please note I was unable to fill in the cost of service as I have not received the bill yet.)

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that Mr. [Member Name Removed] went through. On Wednesday when his wife called to report a problem we did not have any openings and informed them that it would be the next day. We did not believe this would be a huge issue due to the fact that the customer does have other heat sources available in the house. On Thursday the customer requested a later appointment (after 2:30). The tech that was originally on this job was tied up on a different job running heavy machinery so we scheduled a different tech to come out. This tech drives what we call one of our "installation trucks". Once he was on site he called to inform us that his truck was to big and would not make it up the customers drive way. We contacted Mr [Member Name Removed] immediately to inform him of the situation and did inform him we would be out the following day. We sent out our tech on Friday morning with 6 service calls to take care of. We put them in order to make Mr. [Member Name Removed] last (as he requested later in the day, after 3). At around 1:00 our tech was ready for his last call which was Mr. [Member Name Removed]. We did make contact with them for our tech to go, however it was not a good time for them and they still requested later. Our tech was in his area as his second to last call was also located in Pinch. At this point he was in the area with no other calls. From a business side we could not keep him in the area for 2 hours waiting to do a call. In our line of work it is very difficult to give someone an exact time of arrival. We always tell our customers that the only time we can guarantee is the very first call of the day. After that, we call the customer before the tech heads their way. We do try our best to honor when a customer requests later in the day, however it is more difficult. Our scheduling can be difficult due to the fact that we never know how longs a call will last. On that particular day he had 6 calls, which normally would be a good full day of work, unfortunately Friday is was not. We sincerely apologize that Mr. [Member Name Removed] is not satisfied with our service and would gladly welcome another chance to earn his business back."

Called KVM repeatedly & took three weeks to get a hold of the owner who then said he took no responsibility for the damage done by his worker. I would never - never call these clowns to do ANYTHING  to my house ever again!
Response from Kanawha Valley Maintenance
"The plumber that was on site has been with our company for 22 years. He used a product called Flow Easy. This product is safe for all types of pipe. We tried to make contact with Mr. [member name removed] on more than one occasion. We even set up times for the owner to call him (twice) in which he did not answer. Once the owner was able to make contact with him he was not interested in working together to resolve the issue. He was not interested in listening to anything that the owner had to say. Customer stated an issue with the smell. The owner talked to him about several possibilities concerning the smell, however he did not want to hear any of these. Mr. [member name removed] ended the conversation belligerently stating he was going to leave negative feedback on Angie's List then hung up. It's very disheartening that someone jumps to leave damaging negative feedback when they were not willing, on more than one occasion, to resolve the issue."

The company was courteous, provided a quote, and estimated time when they would arrive and an advance call when workers were on their way.

I called them wanting a way to keep water from draining from my hot water tank when there was a waterline break on the main line connecting to my house. They came out promptly and gave me an estimate. I called them and scheduled a date and time. The plumber was there promptly on the date and did the work. Very neat . Completely satisfied.

Kanawha Valley Maintenance has been prompt about returning phone calls for service and punctual about their appointments. Their people have been professional and considerate about working in a house with elderly residents. I trust them to give us good advice, and they have done an excellent job of keeping a house built in 1953 up and running.

I think the labor is a little pricey but overall a great job AND they cleaned up the area before they left. The only clue to their presence is the blue faucet rather than the previous red one.

They were punctual, courteous, took time to explain how the generator would work.  Were exceptionally clean - could not tell they were ever there.  Told us we could call at any time with questions.  Very thorough with every step.

The plumber used an electric snake to unstop the drain. The company was prompt and very professional. The plumber was efficient and went right to work to solve our problem.
