We love them. They're more expensive than a quite a few vets, but they are worth it. They're great with our animals, attentive to our concerns, and just a great establishment that we feel 100% comfortable taking our animals (that we regard as family) to. I'd recommend them to anyone.

We used to see Dr. Johnson but we will be switching to a new vet ASAP. We have had good service with Dr. Johnson in the past and she was always very sweet (not to mention that we love the office staff there) however after what happened to our cat I do not feel safe ever going back to her. Our cat was placed on insulin about a month ago, things were going well until last week when our cat had what we assummed was a hypoglycemic attack. She had all the typical signs of hypo but we were able to catch it in time and treat her at home. We followed up a few days later with Dr. Johnson to make sure that she was ok. We told her exactly what had happened and our cat’s symptoms but she didn’t really seem to take us seriously. She then told us that she did not think that it was hypoglycemia (even though our cat had all the typical symptoms of hypo) but said that she believed that her sugar got too high instead of too low. I didn’t really understand that since we told her that once we had given our cat Karo syrup that she had come out of it. Dr. Johnson seemed unconcerned and proceeded to up our cat’s dose of insulin from 2 units to 4 units. I questioned her about this but she assured me that there was a very small risk that our cat would go hypoglycemic on 4 units and again expressed that she did not believe that our cat had had a hypoglycemic episode. Against my better judgment I followed Dr. Johnson’s advice and gave our cat the 4 units of insulin and last night she had a major hypoglycemic attack. Our cat lost consciousness and began having violent seizures. We rushed her to the emergency vet and they were able to stabilize her for a while but she crashed again later that night so we ended up rushing her back there again at midnight. Our poor cat had to be hospitalized overnight because her hypoglycemia was so severe. The emergency vet then told us that when we brought her in (both times) her glucose was so low that they couldn’t even get a reading on it. The emergency vet was very professional but expressed concern that our vet had increased her insulin dose after we had reported to her that our cat had had hypoglycemic symptoms. Needless to say we are beyond upset over this. I think that Dr. Johnson is a great person and I do not want to cause her any trouble but I do NOT want this to happen to another pet owner. Our cat’s hypo episode was terrifying for both us and our cat not to mention that it has cost us a small fortune. I understand that feline diabetes can be very tricky and difficult to regulate however I really feel that if Dr. Johnson had taken our concerns seriously and listened to us regarding the cat's first hypo attack this this could have been avoided.

Good Shepherd Veterinary Hospital is a wonderful place for pet care. Several years ago, I took a friend's advice and began taking my animals to this clinic. The staff is friendly and always remembers each of my pets. I have used this animal hospital for spays, neuters, check ups and accidents/illnesses and have always been very happy with the service. A few months ago, my dog was bitten by another dog and I had to take him to the emergency clinic. The wound was not healing, so I took him to Good Shepherd to see Dr. Warner. He advised a different treatment and within a few days, the wound was healing nicely. I have moved a couple of times but always continue to make the drive to Good Shepherd. I highly recommend them!

I take them there for all needs. The female vet is awesome! My dog has parvo, which he was healed of. He likely would have died without her care. My cat also has intestinal issues, which the vet was able to figure out. She's now on a special diet. The two male vets are great as well. I would not consider their costs to be any more than any other vets. The staff is caring, professional, and quick with their service. You don't have to wait long, which I appreciate.

She was wonderful. She was punctual and very complete in examining our cat. She told us to expect near complete healling, prescribed anti-inflammatory/steroid meds and arranged for follow up if needed. Her optimism was well founded' the dragging rear leg did improve very slowly and the cat is normal now. Her caring attitude, gentleness and expertise were easily appreciated throughout our appointment. Personally she owns a number of cats, dogs and birds she has adopted over the years. In addition Dr. Stephenson went out of her way to welcome us to Charleston. As a newcomer it was totally unexpected. I could not give a vet a higher recommendation.
