You don't get what you pay for here-- and the bottom line with this one is: Be sure and get an estimate/quote before Duane comes out to do the 'something' --whatever in his mind that happens to be.

Last Saturday (7/21/12) we noticed we were not getting hot water so we called the plumber hoping to get a fix.  He came Sunday evening and noticed the pilot light was out and lit it and charged us $80.  The next day we noticed the pilot light wasn't staying lit so we called the plumber again and he came Tuesday and said it might need new parts or a new replacement of water tank. He said he would be back on Wednesday same time (9 a.m.).  Wednesday came and he didn't show up.  We called him and left a message.  Thursday came and nothing.  My husband called again and he said he would be over 10 a.m. on Friday (7/27) He didn't show up and didn't pick up the phone.  He finally called us on Sunday and said he would come on Monday at 8 a.m.  He came at 9 a.m. and ended up putting a new hot water tank in.  He charged 800.00 ($200 in labor) and it was a bit steep but we were willing to pay.  I didn't have that much right on hand and asked if I could give him $200 down and then run to the bank to get a loan.  He said no and then said he wouldn't have "wasted his time" coming out here to put in a hot water tank if we didn't have the money"  So i handed him a check with the money and asked if he could hold the check for ONE day and he said no.  He was very nasty but I never said anything about the fact that he had blown us off and been very rude.  Next time we will just go to Lowes.  It would have been cheaper and the service would have been more prompt and efficient.
