Eclipse Movers

I found Eclipse Movers in Buckhannon, WV on Angi's and referred my mother to them - BIG mistake. She contacted them. Was quoted a reasonable price, paid the deposit by credit card. Was told that a 20-25' truck would take care of the move. I told him we had a 3 BR house but only 2 adjustable beds. I told him that we had lots of boxes but had sold a lot of furniture. No one called to confirm the appointment of July 6 or came out to see what was moving. I called the week before and was told that he didn't show an appointment...but that they could do the move. He said he had to take a $200 deposit. I paid another one. Researched and found that I had paid 2 $200.00 deposits. I called them back and got a lady. She found that 2 deposits had been taken and assured me that both would be credited on my moving bill. (This was done.) The morning of July 6 the crew arrived and started loading the truck. It wasn't large enough, and they couldn't find another truck. (They only have one and couldn't find another to rent.) They insisted that the job be done that day which required going from the old house to the new house, unloading, and returning to the old house to do it again. The first load arrived around 3 hours later. My daughter and friend were there to receive the load. My daughter helped carry a lot of boxes and items into the first floor of the house. She advised them where to place items in the basement and garage. This part went OK. Since they had to return to use the same truck to get the rest of the load, I stayed in Philippi until they arrived at 2am in the morning. The first crew was exhausted, but they stayed to help the 2nd crew load the rest of the boxes and furniture. The 2nd crew wasn't as knowledgeable as the first. (I was later told that the owner was part of that crew. He normally worked elsewhere but only did office work at the moving business. The daughter seemed to be in charge. It was after the move that I was told they were a new business and that the guy who arranged the move was new to his job also.) The 2nd load left a little after 3am. I swept out the garage and left for the 3 hour drive a little after 4am. The movers got there around 45 minutes before I did. My daughter took some photos. The truck load obviously hadn't been stabilized properly. The largest TV was flat on the floor of the truck, a floor fan was broken and since I wasn't there yet, I can't attest to the exact look. However, my friend, who was also there did ask them if they had been in an accident because the back truck was in such disarray! The oak dining room table has a 12" scratch on the top. There was a puncture in the almost new loveseat, and various pieces of furniture had dirt places. (loveseat, beds, etc.) I was presented with a bill that didn't add up. The lady refigured it and said that she had added it incorrectly. This also ended up being figured incorrectly also, but we were all tired and I missed that part. Anyway, the bill was more than twice the quote. The wrong size truck was used, which caused the 2nd trip. They told me that I couldn't prove the scratches, etc. weren't there before the move, and that they wouldn't make any adjustments. I had written the check with a note that the charges were disputed. I shouldn't have written that check! Am going to the Better Business Bureau. If they had claimed any responsibility, I might feel differently. I can never recommend this company to anyone!
