KAR CONSTRUCTION INC

READ CONTRACT. We were very dissatisfied with the workmanship of KAR. As far as the driveway and approach they did an o.k. job, but left gaps between the approach, sidewalk and driveway. These areas should of been butted closer together. They cut a jagged line and left all the debris and cement chunks in the area. Instead of cutting a semi straight line, they failed to do this. When asked about the debris and cement chunks he said that is not their job, it states on contract. I never heard of a contractor not cleaning up after their job. Not only did he leave debris and cement chunks for us to clean up, he drove his cement truck over our grass. He stated that I approved that because there was some type of problem with the truck. WRONG!! I pay for a lawn service, why would I say that is o.k. ??? He did not have a arm to pour the cement into the garage and driveway so they drove the truck on the lawn and left two big grooves which he did not fix. That was totally uncalled for and he should of fixed the lawn. We did all the clean up (and where in the heck were we suppose to put these cement chunks??) had someone come to fix the lawn, dirt and sod. An expense I wasn't expecting to have. The garage floor was poured but the trim on the garage floor was done so sloppy; they didn't fan it out or make it smooth. I don't have a picture of the garage floor but hopefully can add to this review. KAR did reimburse us $400 (for lawn damage) but also charged us more for stones for driveway $800 more. I am unhappy with his professionalism and his work ethic. We paid for the job; but after I called regarding the lawn damage and gaps between the cemented areas; he said he would stop by and never did. Not a stop over or a call. I would totally not recommend KAR Construction. I did file a complaint with the City of Milwaukee and also the BBB.

On 7/1/2014 we had an existing driveway removed and replaced.  Since we were not home at the time, we could not stop them from using a bobcat.  This caused extreme damage to our lawn.  When we brought this to the attention of the owner, he said all we had to do was "roll the sod back".  This was impossible. We knew there would be some damage because we have seen other jobs in which all the owners had to do was replace some some sod, but they were all able to do it themselves. We had to contact landscaping companies to do this for us.  The quotes we received were $970.00, $1,200.00 and over $1,300.00 from a company the owner suggested.  The company we went with was not able to do the job until 9/2/2014, so we had to sit all summer looking at this mess.  When the landscaper came, they said it was the worst driveway repair they had ever had to do.  They had to replace five feet of our lawn on both sides of the driveway after all the old sod, gravel and chunks of cement left by KAR construction were hauled away.  Also, we were told it was necessary for us to open our garage.  This resulted in some wet cement being sprayed on the hood of one of the cars inside.  One of the employees took it upon himself to go in the garage and wipe it off with a rag which caused scratches in the paint.  Anyone knows that if you rub gritty material into pain, it scratches.  We would have removed it with water.  We saw the employee come out of the garage with a rag in his hand because we were out on the patio.  I think we surprised him and he told us that he was cleaning off our lawnmower.  There was nothing on the lawnmower just the car.  Within the first week, even before they came back to spray the sealer on the cement, there was a crack in the walkway from the house to the drive.  When we brought this to the attention of the owner, his resolution to the problem was to spread a handful of some dust into the crack which did nothing.  Only after we made a complaint the Better Business Bureau, was the owner willing to come and "repair" the crack.  The only thing he did was to put some calk in it which only made it more obvious.
I would never do any business with this company again.  I have pictures of the lawn and car damage for which they will not take any responsibility.

Did a good job, they were very punctual, and actually finished early. Some minor issues showing on the floor, will update after I call them and see how they respond. Overall good quality so far.

We contracted KAR Construction to stain and seal our basement floors in May and are still living with the NIGHTMARE. Keith came over and put several layers of stain on the floor, trying to compensate for the initial dark brown he sprayed on the floor (we asked for yellow, he called the dark brown the “highlight”, it certainly did not look like a highlight to me).  I raised concerns several times about the amount of precipitate that was forming as he layer and layer the stain.  He stated that "they" (meaning he) cleans up the floor before sealing.  To try to cover the dark brown, he also added an "antiquing" whihc was nothing more than a powder.  Then he preceded to seal it.  Guess what, the sealant just soaked into the powder and residue on the floor and wipes off.  I could have predicted this; with any sealant or paint, you need a clean surface.  We are now vacuuming, scrapping, and sanding to try and get the mess off the floor so we can paint it.  We paid him $1000 (roughly half), and he refuses to return the money and states that concrete staining in not precise.  What a mess.  We are now suing for the $1000 and time and materials to clean up the mess.  We walk on a drop cloth to the laundry and have everything from the basement in the garage.  We hope to get this cleaned up and painted in the next few months.

Gave an estimate, scheduled a start date and kept to everything we agreed to.

Very well- on time, workers were focused adn go the job done as planned and no additional costs
