DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I contacted Andy of West Bend Glass Block on 12/18/17 via their website contact for a quote on a glass block window in a shower. He responded that he could perform the quote by visiting the site and viewing it from the outside. I had done all the aluminum flashing on the outside myself, and it was wrapped to the exterior stops. I also let him know that I would supply the proper color of OSI Quad caulk for use on the exterior, and that I expected to finish the interior trim myself. He quoted $540 for the window installed, which I thought reasonable. After a little back and forth on scheduling, I gave him the go ahead. He rescheduled once due to the cold weather, putting the final installation date at 1/31/18. I was at work and my wife was home for the installation. According to her, he and another employee arrived promptly and were courteous. After they left, my wife sent me a picture of the outside of the installation (see below) and I immediately noticed they had used interior (untreated) pine to cover up the gap between the bottom of the window and the flashed sill. I asked if she had already written them a check and she told me she had, and that Andy had assured her that we could "just paint it." I had my wife stop payment on the check with the bank, and immediately contacted Andy with the following message: "Andy- My wife just sent me a picture of the outside of the window. I have stopped payment on the check and I am not paying you a dime unless you return to properly aluminum wrap and seal the unprotected wooden section below the window. Your installation is absolutely unacceptable as is and I paid for a window fit the the opening, installed to the wrapped exterior stops. I didn't spend tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of my time to redo the outside of my house with vinyl products only to have you leave unprotected wood exposed to the elements, telling my wife that I should "paint it." Let me know how you plan to make this right." He did not attempt to email me back, but rather stopped back at the house to speak with my wife again. She said he seemed sincerely distraught that we were not happy, and he wanted to talk to me. She called me again at work but I was unable to talk, and I told her to have them leave and I would be in contact. The next morning, 2/1/18, at 0614, I sent him the following email: "Mr. Klefstad- I hired your company to supply and install "the glass block analogue of a pocket replacement window," which you quoted at $540 installed. I agreed to pay for installation (a task for which I am more than qualified) to save myself the effort of figuring out how to support such a window on and seal it to the sill plate in a retrofit application like this. Yesterday, you left this area filled with caulk and covered with interior grade pine, which is a completely unsuitable material for exterior installation, assuring my wife it could be painted, and convincing her to sign off on the invoice and pay for your services. You also nailed this in place through my wrapped sill plate, and then caulked it in place. In order to fix the material choice and workmanship, I needed to do the very thing I contracted with you so I wouldn't have to do. I needed to: 1) Remove the unacceptable, unrated pine material. 2) Clean all of the caulk from the area (and, I might add, from the air conditioning condenser where errant material had been left), which requires solvent and PPE to do. 3) Make a trip to the hardware store to procure proper exterior grade-material (UV-protected PVC). 4) Insulate the void in the sill area with a proper low-expanding foam. 5) Cut and install the PVC to support the window and seal it to the sill plate. 6) Re-caulk the sill area on the exterior, including sealing the nail holes left in my sill flashing. This was well over two hours of my time that I should have been in the shop working on customer orders at $85/hr. I have precious little time to spend going back and forth on this matter, but I assure you I am not willing to pay the full quoted $540 given that it has already cost me around $200 in lost work time and materials to repair. Removal of the window is a non-starter, as for me to re-flash the window would require stripping the siding and J-channel to access the foil-face insulation to which the flashing was properly sealed. The window and vent appear to be of quality construction, and I certainly acknowledge that a delivery service was performed, but I will require a significant discount on the installation portion of the quoted price. I will await your response." He replied: "Mike I wish you would call me. What to [sic.] you want to pay me? Andy" I saw this email late in the evening on 2/1/18, and replied to him on the morning of 2/2/18: "Andy, I am willing to pay for the window and delivery. Please email me a revised invoice for the amount you would quote for those services, and indicate on it that it supercedes the original invoice. I will remit payment via mailed personal check." I have not heard back from him, however, he has filed a civil suit in the matter, and had a Sheriff's Deputy attempt to serve me papers to that end, less than 48 hours after the service! Please see the picture below. Do not use this company. Anyone who knows anything about window installation knows that interior trim grade pine is not to be installed on the exterior of a house, exposed to the elements. This man is acting like a child, instead of accepting that he made a mistake, discounting the shoddy work that I had to redo, and moving on, he is now making a simple private dispute into a lawsuit. I am now faced with having to take days off work and waste even more time than I did fixing his installation. I have attached several pictures of the installation as Andy left it, including the untreated pine, the caulk left on my air conditioning condenser, and the general poor quality of the caulk job. The window itself seems to be of fine quality and well built, and until he filed a lawsuit I thought he was sincere in his desire to reach a price with which we could both live. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. I have nothing to hide, I have cash in the bank to pay my bills, and I have shared everything here in the open. This company needs to have their service award status immediately revoked!

Received excellent service from the first call for estimate. Called early in the morning and had an estimate later that morning. Windows were built and installed within weeks. Installers did a great job cleaning up after the install. Very satisfied and happy with results.

I called WBG for an estimate on our window replacement and they responded quickly. Communication was great and I knew exactly what would be done and for what cost.  On the day I scheduled for replacement, WBG was on time and went right to work.  They discovered that I had a bee problem when they removed one of the windows and promptly took care of it. They cleaned the areas around the windows both inside and outside the house. The windows were installed quickly. They look great and allow me to circulate air in the basement.  I highly recommend West Bend Glass Block and have passed their information on to friends who need their windows replaced.

They showed up on time and were very polite and considerate.  They executed like professionals who had installed many windows before.  As an owner of several income properties where similar work was preformed, I am familiar with the process of installing glass block windows. They were above average and I would recommend them and use them again.  The only knock that I have is there where a couple spots where the mortar around the window was not perfectly applied, which I think is necessary to earn a 5 star rating in this area. Overall, well above average but like anything not perfect!

I have nothing but good things to say about Andy and his sidekicks.  They were very friendly and personable and able to answer all of my questions.  They did a great job.  The windows are beautiful, and really improve the appearance of the outside of the home, as well as adding an extra layer of security.  Busting out the old windows was a really messy job, but these guys cleaned up every last schnibble of debris.  I would use them again if I buy another flip house, and I would recommend them to any of my friends who might be thinking of having glass block windows installed.

They were superior.  They came out, without me asking, and did all of the measurements on the outside of our house, which was great, but we had purchased the deal for my mother?s house.  I called him and he said this was no problem.  He then measured my mother?s house, in the freezing cold and the snow.  He was great.

We had some misunderstanding at first. When I purchased the deal, there were no restrictions on how many windows are to be cleaned. I had seen other companies prior. When I called them, they said they had to clean at least 4 windows. When I went back they were both on the website and they said I could get a refund through Angie's List. He ended up honoring the coupon and it was good.
