I had four other contractors come and bid the job and DuQuaine came in with the most reasonable cost for the same work. They were local and were very responsive (I got the detailed proposal emailed to me within two days after Ed came out to look at the job) and seemed to know what they were talking about when they met with our general contractor. After some delays on our part and some delays on their part (due to weather and workload), we were put on the schedule and the crew came out and poured the footings for the garage. Luckily, our general contractor was there because they said the retaining wall that we had discussed with Ed was not on the job order. They poured the footings for it after I signed off on an additional PO for the work and materials and then came back and poured the walls. The crew seemed young and energetic (a little rough around the edges with language and attire) and worked hard to get everything done in a timely manner--to avoid incoming rain. Again, the general contractor worked with them on some specifics while they poured to make sure we got what we ordered. We then had to wait about a week for them to come back, take down the forms and pour the floor and create the stairs into the basement. They sent out a different crew to do this part of the job and the employees seemed a little older and more mature (they wore uniform shirts and were polite and professional). We are happy with the work they did and the cost was very reasonable compared to other contractors we had called. If we needed any other concrete work done, we would call them again.
