The process was bad. The quality of work was bad. The professionalism was bad. We fired them half way through the job because the quality was so bad. The drywall needs to be tore out and redone. The tile needs to be tore out and redone. They delivered purple cabinets and will not take them back. I can not litigate for bad workmanship so I am trying to save anyone else from this company.
"This contract was cancelled by mutual agreement. This customer is working through a County program. We have worked with the County for approximately 20 years and never had an issue until this job. There was conflict prior to starting this job and we should have known then not to take this on. We took this job on the agreement that Mr. [Member Name Removed] would not be involved but unfortunately that was not the case. The cabinet color was picked out early in the process. The customer did mention black cabinets but settled for the Cherry due to costs. Once the contract was cancelled and we had delivered the cabinets, we were told these were the wrong color. We have taken those cabinets back and credited the County which at the time this review was written, they were aware of. There were no issues with the tile until the niches were installed. Customer had taped off exactly where they should go. Once done blamed us because they didn't like the placement. The tile company used has been doing this type of work for years and has a great reputation for quality work.. The dry-waller was there exactly one day before the decision was made to cancel this contract. Apparently this company was too "old school". Nothing was finished on this project when the contract was cancelled. In the 20 plus years we have been in business, we have never had to cancel a contract once the job was started until this project."
I contracted Tub Doctors 4 months before job started to refinish tile on master tub, counter top and smaller bathroom counter, Replace two toilets I provided, replace 2 bathroom faucets I supplied, and replace tub faucet I supplied and to supply and change trim on 3 showers... They came to my house on 2 occasions before starting job. I was Quoted $5200. It seemed High but I felt it would be less expensive and disruptive then retiling. After being gone 2 weeks I came home to my small bathroom with a broken pipe on tub faucet and the counter top looking as if some one had been sick all over it. I was told the refinishing product was faulty and did not spray correctly. There was finish product along the 12 ft master mirror, and the refinishing was split apart down the entire 12 ft counter and base. They did not install Master tub Faucet because they said they could not access it. I was told they would try to lift the tub up to install the faucet.. This is AFTER it had been refinished. I would have thought that they would have tried to do that before refinishing. They did not install new trim on the master shower because they did not have trim that would fit master shower.... Remember they came two times to look at job before starting it. Tub doctors came a week later to repair broken pipe andt put a 2.5 by 2.5 foot white access panel in the kids bedroom wall. They did come back and Caulk the split finish and remove finish from mirror. I was told it would be over 6 hours to refinish the smaller bathroom and I it would have an odor. I had this done while I was on vacation because I did not want to have to inhale the fumes. The master tub faucet was not installed because the tub could not be lifted out, however it was suggested I order a new spout that would fit the old faucet.. my question is why did they not suggest that to begin with. Tub Doctors did credit me for work they did not do. In the End I was charged $4000 to have 2 toilets I supplied replaced, 2 Faucets I supplied installed, refinish tile around master tub and counter top and for trim (not including shower heads) on 2 tubs. THE WORSE PART OF THIS IS THE FINISH IS PEALING OFF on the master counter. The finish seems not to have adhered or bonded. This has been the most unprofessional experience I have ever had.. in every aspect. I have been in business over 30 years and I understand things happen.. I am more tolerant then most. This however was inexcusable on so many levels. I will be posting reviews on other sites so I can share photos. Tub Doctors has offered to repair damage, however every time they return I am left with more damage and frustration. I plan on having my damaged countertops replaced and the access panel removed and dry walled. My IMS account was charged the final balance of over $1600 without my authorization. I had intended on deducting the cost of the new counter top from the final charge.
"The original price of the job quoted was $5,277.00. We did credit her $1,677.00 for the work she was not happy with and the counter-top. We did not charge for the trim pieces that we needed to purchase when the customer furnished materials did not work or for the repair/labor of the pipe that broke when we attempted to install customer furnished trim. She was out of the country when this job was scheduled and could only be reached via email. So no decisions were able to made until she returned. Unfortunately we did miss the fact that there was no access for the Roman tub faucets. We gave her options as to what can be done but she choose not to do anything. We did not refinish the tub, we refinished the deck tile around the tub so pulling that tub would not have been an issue. We did offer to spray the 2nd bath counter since the tech told us right away that he was having an issue with the spray gun. She did not want it re-done. When we went back to repair the master bath counter, she requested that we caulk the 2nd bath sink which we did at no cost. We have apologized and tried to rectify this situation to her satisfaction but unfortunately that doesn't seem likely."
"[member name] did contract with us to remove the existing tile, install new greenboard and install an acrylic tub surround. This job was scheduled for December 9, 2014. When we removed that existing tile we found that the walls were soaked from a leak in the roof. Since we are not in the habit of covering up areas that need repair, we did stop work and told her that she needed to get that leak fixed and dried out prior to us finishing the installation of the surround. From what I understood, she did call a company to get the roof fixed that day. Any time there is a change in work being done or the time frame changes, there must be a change order issued with the added/deleted costs. [member name] did sign a change order for an additional $500.00 for the extra work which included us having to reschedule the rest of the job. We did make an exception and finished this job up on a Saturday, December 13, 2014. [member name] did have an issue with the added costs AFTER the job was completed and payment was due. When we spoke, I did tell her that the change order was incorrect – I was not aware at the time it was issued that it was already in the contract to remove the tile and greenboard. I explained this to her and removed $200.00 off that change order. Leaving an additional $300.00 due. [member name] refused to pay the $300.00 citing she felt that we left her with no other option than signing the change order. Apparently, this roof leak was something she was aware of but didn’t realize the damage done. Since we don’t like unhappy customers, we agreed to cut the cost from $300.00 to $150.00 for the extra time and labor. This job was scheduled for one day to complete. It needed to be rescheduled for completion to accommodate the drying and roof repair."
"Thank you for giving our company the opportunity to provide you with our services. Our customers are important to us, and we try to make sure each customer receives the best experience possible, with minimal inconvenience to you. We appreciate you placing your confidence in us, and hope to be of help to you in the future. Thank you!"
Then a few weeks later, the tub would not drain. After digging around in the drain, a large piece of plastic had been left in from the old overflo valve that should have been removed and was clogging the drain. I dislodged it with an ice pick as it happened on a weekend, but it was another frustrating event. The company did respond promptly to my phone calls and there is a warranty. Overall, it looks better than it did, but I would hope for more for the money I spent.
Tub Doctors called me the day after I signed the contract with the main contractor. They were scheduling about a month out, which worked perfectly fine for me as it was for an unoccupied rental unit.
We arranged that there would be a window in which the worker would be coming and they would call me about a half hour before so I could let the worker in (I work about 15 minutes away). Unfortunately, although he called during the window, I had a work emergency and didn't get the call right away, but the worker (I apologize for forgetting his name, he was so nice) was very understanding and when I got there was prepping stuff from the back of his truck.
I let him in and left. When I came back day one, everything looked great. The tub was well draped to contain the process to just the tub.
The warning call worked better day two to let him in (it is a two day job). When I came home that night the tub looked spectacular. My only (small) complaint is that there were a bunch of black smudge marks left on the bathroom floor. They came up with a little elbow grease with the mop, so it wasn't worth calling the company. But even with that little issue, I intend to call them again to reglaze the tub in my unit in the near future.
They did a great job. They were highly recommended by people outside of Angie's List as well. My sister was there to look over the job. She said they were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. They didn't mess the carpets inside the house because this bathroom was upstairs. They were also reasonably priced.
