James is responsible, and on time. He showed up at the agreed upon time, and helped me with various issues I had, such as using an electric planer to shave down my doors so they would fit. He also installed a closet rod, and did other miscellaneous things for me, like install door handles, and curtain rod brackets. But, the best thing was that he created a beautiful custom fireplace mantel by hand! James is a creative guy, and has an eye for what looks good. The fireplace mantel looks wonderful and fits my place so well!! He was on time the times I had him at my place, which is really important to me. He also answered my text messages whenever I had a question. He is nice to talk to, and will give advice if you ask him for it. It was a pleasure working with James.

James did all the work for us. He was punctual and worked fast. He had a great sense of humor, a nice demeanor and explained everything he was doing. We will definitely call him again if we have minor things around the house that need fixing. He used some really neat devices to get the jobs done, including glasses with lights on them, and top-notch tools. The best part was how friendly he was to our dog who kept getting in the way and wanted to play with him.

After attempting the seat replacement myself, I discovered this to be a VERY complicated process given the poor design of the toilet. After finding myHandypro on Angie's List, I contacted James, and sent him the link to Kohler's video that demonstrated how to do the replacement. After reviewing it, he said he could do the work. We set a date and time, and James arrived as promised. He got to work on the seat, and discovered it was the worst-case scenario suggested in the video, requiring him to drill out the existing bolts and anchors, since they could not be removed in a normal manner. It took him almost two hours - but he got it done successfully. However, he couldn't repair the existing flushing mechanism, and told me a new one was needed. He said he would order it and pick it up for us, and come back to install it - and that we could wait to pay him when he'd finished the job. I thought that was very courteous and professional. About a week later, the mechanism arrived, and we set a date for him to replace the old one. Again, because of the poor design of the whole toilet, it took quite a bit of adjusting to stop the new flapper from leaking...and actually required a third visit to get things adjusted further. He did not charge for the callback. The good news is that everything is now fixed and working well. And, while I would never again buy a Kohler toilet like this one, I would be happy to hire James again if we need more handyman work!

It went okay. The first job we hired him for went better than the second. He didn't install the bathroom vents very well. The upstairs one leaked as soon it rained and the downstairs one is very loud much louder than the upstairs (same brand). It's disappointing especially given how much he charged.

It is always our goal to provide service with successful results but things can go wrong and unfortunately a problem occurred on your job. A small leak in a roof vent we installed. No one wants this to happen. It was terribly disturbing to you and very upsetting to us that we were the cause of this problem. Although we arrived within an hour of your notification to address the problem and made the repair soon after we still understand the stress this put you through. Again we wish the problem never occurred. The roof was challenging and the installation a difficult one, we learned a few things and hope to do better in the future if we face the same situation. As far as the cost per hour there seems to have been some confusion, if we were the cause of this miscommunication we are sorry. We do have different hourly rates for different trades and for expedited service. The rate you were quoted and billed was for expedited service (same day of request). When we do same day service requests it forces us to work overtime to service the other accounts previously scheduled. The cost per hour is higher because our costs are higher. When you called you needed a wall constructed so your plumber could complete his work the following day. We fulfilled your request for the same day service work at the hourly rate quoted and which you accepted. We billed at this rate upon completion. A few days later you requested us to provide a quote for the vent work. We submitted a flat rate estimate which you accepted. The venting for the bathrooms required an experienced and certified installer because of the difficult nature of the work. We completed the vent work and you were billed exactly what was estimated with no additions. An audit of the time required to complete the work revealed a rate of just under $55.00 per hour. We believe this to be a very reasonable rate for the expertise needed to do the work. We hope this helps remove an impression that we overcharge or that our rates are high. Our goal has and always will be to provide reliable and professional service at an affordable price and respond quickly to resolve any situation that may arise. We used my Handypro for some few odd jobs, like repair of step, replace a window and James also dealt with my inability to understand a circuit breaker with compassion. I am 100% satisfied with Handypro; James came on time and were efficient. He got the work done at more than a reasonable price. John came out and laid down a tarp, got up and took a look at my problem. He knew right away what I needed. He took a look in his parts bag and found the exact piece I needed. There was a little trouble due to the bracket not fitting over the wires, but he worked through it and he got it done. Great Job!!!
