Our old AC unit has had a very slow leak over the last several years; however, no one has been able to locate it. We usually have it refilled with R-22 every other year, but that coolant has gotten quite expensive. We had 3/4 pound put in, but this time it only lasted about 2 1/2 months. We were hoping to wait till next year, but decided to have the whole unit replaced. I called a few places we were familiar with, and Allied was able to see us first. (Allied also installed our new furnace a couple of years ago, so we felt comfortable with them.) Someone came out the same day to give me info, and then installed the new AC five days later (3 business days). The installation went smoothly. Both the salesman and the person who installed the unit were very professional. I feel very comfortable giving them an "A" in all categories, although I'm not sure about the price. I do think the cost is probably competitive and in line with other companies.

Technician came out for tune-up, which was $79. He said our unit was low on R-22, and added 3/4 lbs. for $112.50. He said R-22 is up to about $150/lb. From what little I read, it definitely has gone up in price over the last 5 or so years. Everything seemed to go OK.

I called Allied at 8am, left voicemail, had a call back within a hour. Technician was on time that afternoon. Diagnosed the problem as a bad flame sensor. Had part of truck, about an hour later I had a working furnace. As to cost, I'm not sure if this is fair for the part ($215 for part $75 for service call), but I was mentally prepared for it to be much more.

The whole experience was great! The owner came to our house to give an estimate. He is not a high pressure salesman, which was part of the appeal to working with him. He is a small business owner and he was very honest with us about everything. We signed a contract that night and they installed the furnace a week later. The craftsmanship looks really good. They ran the exhaust pipes neatly, all hoses and wires are nicely tied together, and they patched the old hole in chimney. The crew even fixed an electrical code violation from the previous owner for no extra charge. There was a rebate available and Allied filled out the forms for me! They had the best price of three companies and I didn't have to settle for second rate quality.

Here is the best part: My energy bill has decreased $90 two months in a row. That's a 25% savings each month.

I woke at 6:00 a.m., ready to take a shower and noticed, "gee, it's awfully cold in this bathroom." We have a chrono therm that allows us to control the temperature in the house, so the "get ready for work" temperature should have been around 68 degrees. I checked the chrono therm and it said "62" -- the overnight temperature, so I thought that maybe the heat hadn't kicked in yet. I set it to 68 degrees, and on my way back upstairs, I checked the indoor/outdoor thermometer in the kitchen, and it said it was 56 degrees in the house! We had a problem. My husband re-checked the findings, checked the furnace, and found that although the furnace was attempting to start, nothing was happening. We started calling various providers on Angie's List, and although we got a hold of several who offered emergency service, Allied was the first who could get to our (now 53 degrees) home in the most expedient manner rather than "later in the morning," "we'll give you a call," or "some time today." We were told the service manager would be at our home at 8:30 a.m., and he was there promptly at 8:30. He replaced several parts and informed us that the motor was on its last leg, and was surprised that it was still running, as they tend to just die. We asked him to replace it, and since he didn't have the motor in his vehicle, he needed to return to his shop to pick up a new one. Including the trip to the shop and back, he finished the job by 10:30 a.m. The original parts he replaced allowed the furnace to begin heating the house while he was gone. We were extremely happy with the work done, and especially with the timeliness since 1-7-2015 was the coldest day of the 2014-15 heating season so far.

The tech who was sent to us was not knowledgeable about furnace conversions, and because of that we had to have another company who was informed come out. We had to pay twice as much as we should have because of this. The tech inspected the furnace and changed the flame sensor which did need changing. He wrote in his description, as well as told us, that the and quot;furnace has never been upgraded for propane.and quot; When I asked how to go about converting it, the tech said that I would have to call someone specially trained to do that, and that it would be very expensive. We had been told that the furnace had been converted to LP when we purchased it, so we didn't trust what he was telling us. We called another company who came out about a week later. This tech told us that the furnace was functioning properly, and through his inspection was able to verify that it had indeed been converted to propane. He also informed us about issues that may occur with a conversion which probably caused the first tech to mistake as no conversion being done.

I indicated that the price was bad, but that was only because of the misinformation and thus more cost to us.

For us Allied was a waste of money in our probably unusual situation.

Excellent service. The day before the AC was scheduled to be replaced, WE Energies was at my home and discovered a small gas leak in one of the pipes in my basement. So I called Mark at Allied Heating and asked him if they could repair the pipe joint at the same time that they replaced my AC. Not only did he agree to it, but he also said they would do it at no additional charge, which is what they did.
I also appreciated that they were willing to replace my AC on a Saturday at no additional charge and that they agreed to have the same technician (Joe) who had previously worked on my AC come and do the install for me. Joe is a great guy and went out of his way to explain things to me and also did some additional things to my furnace to improve energy efficiency that he did not have to do. I will definitely use this company again when I need to replace my furnace.

This air conditioning repair was mostly covered under a home warranty, and the warranty company directed me to use Allied Heating and Air Conditioning. The technician showed up as scheduled to diagnose the problem, which was a faulty A-coil, or evaporator coil, in the air handler unit. It took a few days to get the part in, and the repair was scheduled as soon as the tech was available. The job was performed straight-forward, but the problems appeared after the tech departed. First, the tech unplugged my refrigerator in the basement, apparently to use the outlet, but never plugged it back in. Subsequently, all the frozen breast milk that my wife had been pumping for weeks and storing in the freezer melted. This was irreplaceable, as one cannot simply go to the store and buy breast milk. Second, he dropped a pile of sheet metal screws in my driveway and left them there. Luckily, we found these the next day before any damage to tires occurred. Third, he didn't thoroughly tighten a cap on a valve, and all the freon leaked out by the following summer. I had to call another heating and cooling company to repair the repair performed last summer by Allied. To summarize, sloppy work, no attention to detail, and did not complete the repair properly.
Response from Allied Heating & AC LLC
"I’m sorry you had a bad experience. We’ve been in business 13+ years, we serve thousands of customers a year, and we strive to create the best possible experience for each customer. We became aware of this issue late last summer (2013) when we saw another negative review this customer wrote online about Allied. We then made several phone calls to this customer for about 8 weeks but he never returned our calls. We were simply trying get a hold of him to resolve this matter and hopefully satisfy him. We would like to thank this customer for the constructive feedback. This feedback can only help us make our business better. We also would like to thank the customer for taking the time to comment. We will keep attempting to contact him to see if he will allow Allied to address the situation & hopefully come up with a resolution. Just to clear up the “cap on the valve issue” the cap on the connection that we use to test the Freon levels does not hold the Freon in. The shrader stem cores “like the ones found on car tire’s” hold the Freon in the system. The repair was done on 6-24-2013 so if the repair was done incorrectly he would have had issue’s right away last summer. As far as the other 2 issues once again we need to talk to the customer and our tech who did the work to resolve those items."

Allied came out and replaced a furnace in a rental unit that I own. I called them at 8 am and by the end of the day the new one was installed. That made for a very happy tenant who will also have a cheaper heating bill. I have also used Allied to fix furnaces in my apartments with great results.

I can't say enough good things about Allied. We were completely without heat due to our old 20-year-old units malfunctioning and emitting high levels of carbon monoxide. They were very responsive, prompt, and kept on top of the status of our claim with our home warranty company. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any of your heating and cooling needs. We will definitely use them when it comes time to replace our 41 year old air conditioners (no, that's not a typo, they really are 41 years old!)

I have mixed impressions of this company. We were given several companies to compare when shopping for a new furnace under our home warranty. Allied certainly had the lowest prices available on their website. I was a bit uncomfortable, however, with the fact that Allied did not come for an in-person estimate prior to the job. We also did not receive a written estimate (other than the online estimate, which we devised on our own) until the day the furnace was installed, which seemed a bit strange.
The person doing the install was professional. We have barely run the furnace so far, since we had it installed at the end of the heating season, but we are optimistic everything was done well. The amount we paid was the amount we were quoted on the phone/online.
Finally, it was unclear to me whether we should submit information for the extended warranty or if Allied would do so. When he was at our home, install tech said Allied would take care of it, but when I followed up by phone to clarify, I never recieved a call back. I ended up submitting the warranty information online (which only took a few minutes anyhow), but I would have appreciated a return call.

Everything went perfectly. From the scheduling of the initial inspection, to the follow-up phone call to verify how I wanted to move forward, to the actual installation of the furnace and a/c; everything went smoothly and as scheduled. The techs were extremely proficient and very nice to work with. They cleaned up after themselves, walked us through the completed project, and patiently answered every question we had. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for similar services and will seek their help when we finish our basement in the future. Thank you Allied.

We were in search for a company to replace the old furnace and AC units in our house. We found Allied Heating and AC through Angie's List and would like to contact them for a price quote due to the remarkable reviews and an ongoing promotion. I visited their website and found that they have this online price quote software tool that can immediately tell you the cost of the project once you input the information about the house. It was very convenient and the price given so very competitive that we decided to ask them work on the project right away. I gave them a call and left a message. Two hours later, I got a call (at about 12:30pm) back and arranged an appointment at 4pm the same day! During the appointment, Mark walked through the property, examined the condition of the current units, confirmed the price quote and honored the promotion.
On the installation day, they came in at about 9am in the morning and finish the installation of the furnace and the AC unit and completed the testing at about 4pm in the afternoon. New PVC pipes and duct work were also added. The work was done efficiently and professionally. They laid tarp on the floor and carpet to avoid damage to the house and cleaned up all debris and hauled away the old units. I definitely would like to recommend them to everyone I know in the area looking for a qualified company for heating and AC projects.

Mark, the owner, provided the estimate. It was well under the other two estimates, but included the same brand and models as one of the competitors. He was very professional and answered all questions well. Dave and Wes (installers) arrived at 8:30am as scheduled. They were here until 5:00pm and answered questions at the end of the installation plus helped me with the rebate forms. Steve and George (plumbers) arrived at 10:00am and completed the installation of the water heater by 2:00pm. Dave and Wes cleaned up after the install and left the basement very clean. They also layed out tarps on the basement stairs to protect the carpeting. Mark stopped by during the installation, and added a few things to the contract at my request. He's very easy to work. He also said a Spring checkup was not necessary. Wait until Spring, 2014. I was impressed because he could have scheduled one or more visits before next Spring to make more money. All in all, the installation went smoothly. The new equipment works well and I'm finally able to take long showers. I'm very pleased and would highly recommend this company to anyone.

My pilot light would not stay on and I contacted Allied for emergency service through my HSA home warranty. The technician arrived and diagnosed igniter flame rod assembly. Two weeks later, same problem. The pilot lite wouldn't come on. This time technician blamed the Smart Valve and said it needed replacement. I contacted Allied and questioned as to whether the technicians had properly troubleshot the root cause of the problem. I spoke with the Owner at the Mequon office who proceeded to tell me that he was absolutely confident his guys did the proper things even though he could not prove it and their service order showed no initial inspection work beyond the symptom I identified. He then proceeded to tell me it was really frustrating dealing with customer complaints. His customer service skills were reprehensible.
We canceled all service and changed over to Kelly's HVAC out of Muskego. The technician confirmed to us that there was more wrong with the unit that was causing the other problems. The primary heat exchange needed replacement and it was likely causing the unit to short-cycle thereby affecting the Smart Valve and igniter rod assembly.
Allied technicians were not proficient and their owner lacked any form of customer service capability. I have no idea how they stay in business.

Response from Allied Heating & AC LLC
"Allied was not hired by this customer. Allied was hired by HSA home warranty to go out to this customers home and fix his furnace. The homeowner paid his required deductible and we fixed his furnace. About 3 weeks later his furnace was acting up again and there was a different problem causing the same symptom. We called in his claim to HSA home warranty and they approved the repair but they said the homeowner would owe a 2nd deductible. This is when the homeowner called Allied very unruly and pissed off that he had to pay a 2nd deductible. We then directed him to call HSA and discuss the deductible issue with them. He then decided too write an inaccurate bad review on Allied because HSA home warranty made him pay a second deductible for his 2nd covered repair on his furnace. We do over 1000+ service calls a year for HSA home warranty and we have been doing there work for over 6 years. They would not continue using our services if we did not know what we were doing of have poor customer service."

We received a quote for services online (which was great). They came out to look at our needs and assisted in identifying some other things to consider. We ended up have a new 96% efficient furnace (our other one was 32 years old), and a new central air conditioning unit installed. We were very pleased with their professionalism and accomondation. Our air went out during the heat wave over the 4th of July in Milwaukee, and they were as prompt as possible in getting that rectified for us, including offering a window air conditioner to use in the interim.
Overall, would definitely use again if any other HVAC needs arise.
