I can't say enough positive things about Kim Arneson and the work she does as a photographer! WOW!!! I have had family members use her 3 different times now, and I have been thrilled with her professionalism, superb customer service, and phenomenal photo quality every time.
For each sitting, Kim communicated well in advance of the sitting, wanting to get a handle on the type of photos we were after and anything special we had in mind. For all the sittings, she took some pictures in her home studio in Waunakee and others were done in outdoor locations in the Waunakee area. She was well prepared with lots of ideas, top notch equipment, and a plan for what she wanted to accomplish -- she didn't waste any time, but she also didn't make her subjects feel rushed or uncomfortable. She was pleasant, positive, genuine, and fun during the shoot, which means she got a lot of genuine, beautiful smiles every time.
Especially with the outdoor shots, Kim didn't hesitate to do anything she needed to do to get a great shot... whether that meant climbing a ladder or lying on the ground to get exactly the background she had in mind. Her ideas were creative and classy. If you peruse her website, you will see that she does a great job of personalizing every set of pictures and capturing who her subject is. For my mother-in-law's book publicity shots, Kim did a great job of blending some traditional, classic poses with some that were more fun and contemporary. We were delighted to have such a nice variety of pics.
I will mention also that Kim shot A LOT of pictures. As in, A LOT!!! In a one-hour sitting, she shot over 100 photos each time we used her, I believe. She keeps the shutter clicking, and as a result, she gets great genuine smiles (the ones that come out after you stop posing!). I love that she knows how to trust her set up and then just shoot a lot, knowing that great photos will happen.
Once the shoot was done, Kim posts ALL of the proofs (100+) to a password protected website. She got the up FAST every time, so we were able to see her work. How nice to not have to wait!! The site for the proofs is easy to navigate and very convenient to share with family and friends. Each time, we had purchased a package that included some touch-up work on a certain number of pictures. We just had to let her know which pics were our favorites, and then she did even more magic. The end results were beautiful.
The portrait packages are not the cheapest ones in town (that is the reason I gave a "B" -- I do understand it's not cheap, and the prices could be cost-prohibitive for some), BUT you get an incredible value for the money you spend! I am a bit of a cheapskate, and I don't regret a single penny I spent on Kim's photos! In addition to Kim's outstanding quality, the packages that we bought gave us the copyright to EVERY proof she shot. Not just our favorites. All 100+. In addition, we are able to get prints made through her website. My opinion is that the prices for prints were totally reasonable, and the printing quality is excellent -- not like getting them printed at Walgreens! However, Kim gave us a copyright release so that I COULD print them at Walgreens, or use the pictures in other photo products like coffee mugs, etc. I love that we have a TON of BEAUTIFUL photos that are ours forever and ever.
Kim is skilled as an artist and wonderful from a customer service perspective. She's so good, she makes me want to think of excuses to use her again and again!
