Wicks flooring was subcontracted through Renovations Group Inc. 1st of all they did not finish the work because Renovations Group walked off the job. However, the service provided by Wicks was just one of the problems that arose with our project. We used reclaimed flooring from an old farm house in the living room and they installed this at the beginning of the project. We believe it looked pretty good, but cannot say for sure since we they never had the chance to finish it. The problems occurred in the kitchen where they had to patch an area where cabinets had to be removed for the remodel. We removed some existing flooring that matched the kitchen from another part of the house to patch the floor. RGI and Wicks agreed that this would be the best way to have a matching patch as opposed to patching with new wood. Unfortunately, the installer started with a trimmed piece of flooring that did not fit correctly and based the rest of the patch off of this. See Picture. This is clearly not to MBA standard and even the Wicks re-finisher stated it would need to be re-done when he visited the house to do some color samples on the floor. The other problem in the kitchen was that there was a hole in the floor that was from a vent that was removed. They did not patch the sub-floor and laid the flooring right over the hole. Maybe they would get away with workmanship like this if their was a ceiling in the room below the kitchen. There isn't, it is our laundry room, and their shortcut is very visible. The floor flexes in this spot and when the kitchen is dark and the light is on in the laundry room you can see light coming through our kitchen floor. Wicks also forgot to patch the floor that went under a rolling cart in our new cabinets. When this was pointed out, pieces of flooring was just laid in a straight line to cover the floor and were not placed in with a staggered pattern to match the rest of the floor. We were told by RGI's owner Tony Rink that this was all up to industry standard and that Wicks refused to fix it. When RGI walked off of the project we were told that Wicks would come and finish the project for their quoted price and we would get a refund back for that price. Of course we did not want them back as they already had shown us they had very poor quality workmanship and cut corners they thought they could hide. I did not start this review right away as we were waiting to have this all settled through NARI. As this has taken longer than anticipated we felt we must let people know what kind of businesses we dealt with during our remodel.

I couldn't be more pleased! Every step of the process was great, from the initial visit with the company president, Michael Wickert, to completion. Work was done in four days as promised. All of the workers were competent and polite and provided useful information. When the work was done, I noticed what looked like a small cut in one of the boards. I contacted Mike, and he got back to me within a day, and we arranged for a technician to come out and repair the board. It turned out to be a worm hole, and you can't even see where the repair was done. The floor is beautiful!

I had Wicks out two years ago to redo the original 1950's wood floor on the entire first floor of my house. They did such a bang up job and I was super happy. Cut to the present and in one of my spare bedrooms, I had laid an area rug that my cat was spraying on. I was unaware of this until I picked up the rug to clean it and saw that the spray/urine had soaked through the rug to the floor and left it stained black.
I emailed Wicks and asked if they could come out and replace the boards. Wicks had had to do this the first time around on the entire floor because there were dozens of stains after 50 years of being covered with carpet. Carrie from the office there told me that they could do it but she warned me that there would probably be a color difference between the new replacement boards and the current floor. I figured it would be okay since Wicks had replaced so many boards before and I couldn't even tell the difference. Also, I was going to put another rug down and wouldn't really notice anyway.
The carpenter came out over two days - once to replace the boards and stain them and another time to apply the clear protecting coat. The carpenter was right on time both days and super friendly. The replacement boards look great and match very well. I can tell the difference but that's because I know they were replacements. No one else has noticed them.

When we were gathering estimates, Wicks had the most detailed estimate which we really appreciated since we had such a large project. Their pricing was very reasonable compared to the other estimates we received. They are very accommodating and great to work with. The crew was friendly and the floors turned out great!

I can't say enough how pleased I am.  We received a quote from their competitor and it was 3x as much for a farily small repair.  They did a fantastic job, you can't even tell that there were any issues in the area they worked on once they were done.  I appreciate the fact that they didn't try to sell us services we didn't need, unlike their competitor.  I would definately recommend them.

It went really well, and the results are beautiful. Cory and David arrived right on time and did their work in a careful, unhurried manner. They took care to lay the wood very specifically as we had planned and were happy to explain everything they were doing and why. We would definitely work with them again.

I really can't say enough nice things about Wick's. I've called and dealt with ALOT of contractors as I've been renovating my home for the past year. Wick's is by far the best contractor I've ever dealt with. All of the estimators and employees were always on time and always cheerful.
I had existing hardwood floors that were around 50 years old and had spent at least the last 35 years under carpet. I ripped up the carpet myself as well as removed the nails and staples. The floor was pretty beat up with black stains (pet related, I'm guessing), scratches, nail and staple holes and missing finish. I was really not expecting miracles with the floor. If it looked even halfway presentable, I would have been happy. By the time Wick's was done, it looked like a new floor had been put in. The only thing that was even telling that it was an old floor was that some of the staple holes could still be seen. However, the holes made it look like those cool urban loft floors on HGTV so I was pretty happy.
I wasn't going to have the nail holes filled in because I was concerned that the floor would look worse with the holes filled in but Wick's showed me a sample of my floor with the holes filled in. I couldn't even tell the holes were there except on close inspection. Just looking across the floor, you can't even see them. I had also forgotten about the thresholds on the transitions from the wood flooring to the bathroom and kitchen tile floors. On the last day, one of the guys asked if I wanted to have Wick's do them and I said sure because I didn't want to deal with it. I'm glad I did because what I got were custom thresholds that were installed and stained to match the floors. No way I could have come up with something that nice on my own.
Wick's took the time to explain everything they were going to do beforehand and as they went along. They also give you a handy sheet to tell you how to take care of your hardwood floors once you have them (a good thing since I'm a hardwood floor rookie). I had originally only contracted for the living room and hallway and one bedroom but decided a couple days before to add two more bedrooms. That threw a wrench into the scheduling, obviously, but Wick's was a champ about the whole thing and worked with me so that the whole floor got done.
The floor was done over three days (one for sanding and replacing bad boards, one for staining and one for clear coating). I highly recommend using their dust reduction system which is an apparatus that works like a dust collector on power tools and sucks the dust right from the sanding machine out to their truck. There was absolutely no dust whatsoever for me to clean up. In fact, there was nothing whatsoever for me to clean up (no tools, no debris, etc.). It really is the way to go.

They were responsive. I contacted probably six different vendors for different things and they were the only ones that bothered even to get back to me. They got me a proposal quickly and the work was exactly as they stated, and they actually worked to accommodate me within their schedule. I paid for the installation, as I already had the wood floor.

From the estimate given to the finish very professional and timely. We were having the kitchen remodeled and scheduled the floor right at the end and they worked it into their schedule precisely. Work was done well and suggestions given that were timely. For refinishing wooden floors they would be hard to top.

I was very inpressed with the work that was done. The various crews that worked on the house over the course of the two stages, were polite, professional and thorough. The floors are beautiful and the care with which they worked on the house was impressive. I would definitely work with Wick and again and highly recommend the company.

Wick's is really a people pleaser 'mom and pop' outfit. They pay closer attention to details. They are professional and punctual. Mike (the owner) came and gave us the initial estimate. He's quite approachable and very flexible to work with. We had them install a higher quality family room hardwood floor before and had very good results. Hence, we wanted them back for this job. They use a modern dustless system so you don't have to worry about a huge mess. Its generally a quite effective process and nothing is entirely dust free however. We had a little on our leather sofa but nothing we could fuss much about. Wick's gave us a special discounted price from an email or coupon offer. They also honored a coupon for a free hardwood floor maintenance cleaning kit (very nice) they gave us. You won't be sorry hiring them at all. And, they're very competitive in their prices I think.

Wicks is a great company. The owner came and gave the estimate, provided an information pamphlet about the whole process, time lines and expectations. Estimate arrived the same day. When I called with questions, he was helpful and gave clear, honest answers. Wicks was willing to use some maple floor boards we had purchased for another purpose to repair our floors. They were honest about the potential problems with matching new wood wood to old wood but offered several potential solutions should a problem occur. The repair job was fantastic. You can't tell where old meets new. Working with the floor stains they were able to make the new boards blend in with the old. The guys who did the sanding and refinishing were prompt, clean, professional, and really polite. And the floors look great and the service was too.
