The installers were prompt and very professional. They tore up the old flooring and made sure everything was clean when the install was complete. Mike came over a few days later to make sure we were pleased with how everything went and satisfied with the total project. We will definitely be using In Home Floor and Window Fashions for our next remodeling project.

In February 2016 I hired In Home Flooring to install Pergo laminate flooring in my home. In May 2016, I noticed over a dozen areas with gaps where the floor was pulling apart. The owner of the company agreed to fix the issue when they came to install vinyl flooring in each of the bathrooms. When the installers came out, I was told it was my fault the floor was pulling apart, as I did not keep the humidity level at 55%. They “fixed” the gapping areas by pushing the boards together and gluing the pieces. It should be noted they did not clean up the excess glue left on the floors. I contacted the floor manufacturer to confirm the 55% percent humidity was the reason behind the problem and to see if gluing the floorboards together was the proper way to fix the problem. I was told no on both accounts, and they suggested I file a claim against the warranty to have an inspector come out to my home. The inspector spent over 2.5 hours at my home taking photos and measurements. I was provided with a lengthy report pointing out areas of improper installation. The report also documented that there was not a humidity control system installed until 2017, but it also pointed out there were two dehumidifiers in the basement to assist with humidity control. I have spoken with others that have had Pergo floors installed in their homes for years without a humidity control system, and their floors have not pulled apart. It is also important to note that I continue to find new areas with gaps. I forwarded the inspector’s report to In Home Flooring. After nearly a month of no response, they responded by dismissing the findings the inspector’s report. I obviously do not have the technical expertise to further argue the findings, so I turned to the retailer the floor was purchased from for a recommendation of a reputable floor installer to provide a second opinion. The second expert opinion concluded that the floor would need to be removed and reinstalled in order to resolve the issue. I shared this information with In Home Flooring, and they once again dismissed the findings. They did offer to fix the new gapping areas, which I declined. I had already given them an opportunity to correct the issue, which they did not do properly based on the two expert opinions. In addition to this major problem, there were a number of other problems with throughout the installation which are listed below. • Excessive clean-up from the initial installation. There was no attempt to clean up the saw dust from the house or garage. • Having my thermostat set at 82 degrees during installation without consulting me. I had not moved into my home yet, so I was unaware they took the liberties with my thermostat. • The transition piece along the fireplace that was not cut to fit properly. • The gap along the stairs in the loft area, which was filled with a discolored putty. • The floorboards pulling apart at the short ends. • Fixing the floorboards that pulled apart by gluing them, which may in turn cause future buckling of the floor. • The excess glue used to “fix” the floorboards left on the floor…not even attempted to wipe off. • Not ordering new transition pieces for the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms when the floors in each bathroom were replaced. Installers glued the old transition pieces in place, which may in turn cause future buckling of the floor. My experience with In Home Flooring since February 2016 has been incredibly frustrating. There was a lack of respect towards me and my home by their installers, which one can only assume is because I am a woman. I should not have had to devote the time and energy I did to have a company I hired properly complete the work I hired them to do, especially when this time and energy did not equate satisfactory work. The bottom line is my floors continue to pull apart due to improper installation, and I have to have them reinstalled, which should be paid by In Home Flooring. They have however refused compensate me to hire a company for proper installation. They have only offered to come in and further glue my floor back together. Given I will have to pay to have the floors reinstalled properly, I cannot afford to hire an attorney nor do I have the expertise to pursue legal action on my own. My only recourse is to share my experience with this company.
Response from In Home Floor & Window Fashions
"I am sorry that you experienced problems with the flooring that we installed in your home. I would point out that we did repair the end joints that initially separated and you stated you had no further issues with those repairs or areas. I have offered on numerous occasions to come back and repair any further issues, but you have declined my offers. That offer to repair any other end joint separations still stands. As for the other points in your review, although we have already discussed them at length, I would be happy to go over them again."
