"Tom" came to our office and discussed our needs and specs before providing an estimate for cubicle panels, including other necessary components, installation and delivery. We negotiated a price that seemed fair and went to his storage space in New Berlin to see the cubicles we intended to purchase. They looked good and he seemed legit. He provided a Contractor Invoice with a full description of work to be performed and materials to be supplied. Then he asked us to mail him a deposit check for 1/2 down ($2750) made out to "cash" the week before delivering the cubicles! We told him he could come to our office and pick up the check on Monday -- one day before the scheduled delivery date. He didn't show up for the check on Monday and stopped communicating. His cell phone suddenly wouldn't accept messages. We never gave Tom any money but we certainly wasted a lot of time dealing with him. Very shady guy.
