See Above: On 5/4/12, he was hired to replace a well pump regulator, dig down 18" & cover the exposed wiring outside, & install plywood on the wall between the basement & the basement garage wall. On 5/16/12, he was hired to raise, strengthen & support a sagging 2 car garage roof. He was also supposed to remove the metal roofing, remove the composition shingles beneath that & replace the metal roofing, but he claimed there was only the single level of shingles & it was unnecessary. There were multiple levels of shingles. He was also supposed to replace an old fashioned wall mounted circle electrical switch, replace the rotten wood on a second floor deck & install vinyl on the ceiling of a bathtub enclosure. He was supposed to get back to me with an estimate of other work & also that of my neighbor, but he ignored all calls. Again, I am too unfamiliar with the quality of work done on the garage, but was not immediately able to inspect his work on the rental units.
Description of Work: I actually hired him twice this year, but had hired him the second time before inspecting the first job. I thought he was good at first, because he doesn't talk down to me (as a woman) & seemed to be knowledgeable. His actual performance is terrible. His prices also seem very good at first, for a professional handyman, until one sees the quality & scope of the work done. For example, on the first (5/4/12) job, he was supposed to install some plywood on a basement wall. Instead he installed pressboard & doesn't even use a straight edge or a table saw. He does a very sloppy freeform version of edges. He was supposed to fix the well pump. The exposed wire lying on the ground with a hole by the casing was only slightly less exposed & no attempt to fill in the hole. The regulator, which was ungrounded, cracked & taped together, was not replaced. It was mickey mouse grounded, but the unit was still cracked & taped together. The second (5/16/12) job: he was supposed fix the sagging roof of my garage. It is better, but still not level. He also charged me $150 for 3 other jobs. One, replacing some rotten boards on my rear deck, were not done at all, even though I paid for them. The second, to replace a faulty old fashioned electrical wall circle switch was done by mounting a cumbersome modern rectangular box on TOP of the wall. The third was to cut & install a pre-measured piece of vinyl sheeting on a bathtub ceiling. He ignored the marks, cut it freehand, too short & not even straight. Basically, his work is a waste of the materials I provided. Everything always has to be redone the correct way.
