UNSTUMPED TREE SERVICE

Terrible---from the start, he showed up 2 days later than he said he would to give me an estimate---then for weeks he kept coming up with excuses why he was not doing the work--kept saying I was next on his list---finally had to give him an ultimatum---extremely rude--complained that he could not get the huge truck into my yard (note, he never planned to do that---he only talked about the fork lift truck) started to take down the tree and broke for lunch--told me he did not want any negative comments from me when he and his crew returned---came back 2 hours later to finish the tree and bragged about how he took down another tree during his lunch (that was why he had the large rig, not for my tree) ---said he would be back the next day to haul away the wood and grind the stump---came back to haul the wood---left his fork lift truck in my driveway, never asking permission to do so---left 2 huge gouges in my front lawn from the fork lift (note, the tree he took down was in the back yard)---came back the next day to pick up his equipment---did not grind the stump----came back 2 days later to grind the stump. He is extremely unprofessional!

On 5/18 (Thursday), I called and asked for a quote. Don said he would come that evening or the next day. He showed up Sunday, May 21 late morning. On 5/22 early morning, I called him and OKed the project. He told me that he could get to me the end of the week or the next week. He did not come or call, so that Friday 6/9 I sent him a message asking if he forgot me. No response. I called him Monday, 6/12 and he said it had rained every other day last week (Interesting, the weather person last week had commented on how we needed the rain to keep the grass green). Don said he would come Tuesday eve or Wednesday. When no one came by Thursday, I sent Don an e-mail. Today, Friday 6/16 he returned my call with one ring but hung up immediately so I called him back. Frankly, I think he called me in error and was surprised when I called him back. Since I gave him the ultimatum on Monday that he needed to do it by the end of the week or forget it, he told me that technically he had until Saturday. I really don't think he was going to do my tree but since I told him (as I did in my e-mail) that it needed to be completed today or forget it, he said he would be here in one hour. He came 2 hours later. He is returning tomorrow to complete the tree. He needs to be more responsible/respectful and call if he can not make appointments. Initially, he said 3 weeks, changed it to "the end of the week or next week". I truly think he would not have completed it at the end of the 4th week if I had not pushed him. I just hope he completes the job tomorrow as I already paid him.

It went great. I got the quote one day and they were cutting down the trees and doing the job the following day. Very quick and neat. They do an awesome job. I gave them a B on the quality because I wish they would have cleaned up the stump grindings and dirty as well because that stuff is real heavy and messy. But everything else was cleaned up and yard in tact. I would definitely hire them again.

Don came out to give us a quote about tree service. As we were talking about his services, he made a comment about the length of our grass and said that he also sells lawn mowers. He said that he refurbishes them and they are in like-new condition when he sells them. He said he would let us try one and he brought a spare push mower to let us use in the meantime. The first time using the lawn mower he was selling us, it worked great! No problems at all. We ended up purchasing the lawn mower and he told us it would work great for us and would be a hassle- and worry-free mower for our use. We also hired him for tree work and that was OK. He insisted on a cash transaction and was very unprofessional about not wanting our transaction on the books. We were upset that we were treated in that way and now have a tractor that does not work.

It was a little more difficult than I would have preferred to get Don out to to the work.  When we called him early in the week to tell him we were going to go with his estimate, he had indicated that he woudl be out Wednesday or Thursday afternoon.  Wednesday came and went so we assumed he'd be there Thursday.  When Thursday came and went, we called him that Friday morning and he said he would be out there at Three.  He came at actually closer to 6, and then ran out of daylight and said he would be back first thing Saturday morning.  He actually came at 1pm Saturday afternoon.  Nonetheless though, he did a good job, cleaned everythign up thoroughly after he was done and I would still recommend him and use him again.  Now I just know what to expect as far as scheduling.

They were great! They came out to our property when they said they would and we had several stumps that needed to be ground. He was professional, friendly, and gave us a great price. We would highly recommend Unstumped.

He did very well. He had some issues with his equipment, so there was definitely some lag time; he could not react as quickly as he wanted to. He was very good and professional about explaining that to me, and I understood his problem, and it was good. I had to remind him a couple of times actually. Once he got it all scheduled, he nailed it out pretty well. The price was very good. I wasn’t there when he did the work. I would use him again in the future if necessary.

The work was performed quickly and professionally. All debris was cleaned up promptly and yard furniture and planters were put back in their original position.

He even came back to grind out some stumps they had missed because the chipper was over them. Excellent price for all the work they did!!

Was great to work with! We are very hesitant of using or referring other contractors to our jobs as they could represent us and our work poorly. After calling several companies with no response or little interest, we called UnStumped. He was very professional on the phone and very easy to work with. He was there when he said he would be, and was very professional and courteous to our customers. Our customers were very happy with the job he did and thanked us for finding him! Our customer was so happy with him and the price that she had other stumps removed in her yard. The job was overall almost effortless and they did a good job AND made our customers happy! We will definately use this company again! Thank You!!!

Great price & excellent job.

It went very well. Don was called for an estimate and actually came out the next day. He was very knowledgeable and offered good advice on how to proceed. His suggestion about planting an new tree to replace one that will need to be removed in the near future was excellent. The actual work was done, quickly, efficiently, and professionally. He trimmed the large trees in the back, trimmed a very large tree in the front so that it is now leaning away from the house, removed an apple tree that was too close to a neighbor's property and crowding another apple tree. He also planted an autumn blaze maple tree that will have a chance to grow and replace the tree in front. The stump was ground down, all material was removed, and clean up was great. His crew worked very quickly and we are very please with the results.

They arrived shortly after calling them and gave the estimate fairly rapidly. It took another 3 to 4 weeks after their scheduled time for them to show up. Some of it had to do with the weather but they kept calling to reschedule and then not stopping by. Once they did show up, it went really fast and they left the area clean.

I called Unstumpt Tree service and left a message regarding our needs, Don called back in a timely manner and came out to look at the job as soon as we could get together. After discussing our main goal, cutting down and removing 1 tree, stumps and bushes, we then decided as long as he was here we asked him to walk our property and see how he could improve the look of our other trees and bushes, shaping and trimming so they look better and last longer. We also asked Don for his advice on what type of tree he would suggest to replace the tree he removed, however, position it in a better area of the yard. He gave us a few suggestions and listened to what our thoughts as well. I would HIGHLY recommend Unstumped Tree Service to anyone, they do good quality work and clean up all that they say. Very Professional, we also gave them more $$$ for the work that they did because they actually went above and beyond what we expected. Oh, and if you use them... make sure to offer Tippy the dog some cold water :) and a good treat, as well as the guys... it's hard work..!

They hauled away all the wood when they were done. They did the work when they said they would. They always returned phone calls when we left a message. They always showed up on time.

A large tree fell in our yard in recent storms. Unstumped was able to get there and remove the tree within days. We were quoted approx $1000 by two other tree service companies who both felt a utility line would have to be dropped. Unstumped felt the tree could safely be felled without dropping the line. We don't know much about that, but we were very happy with Unstumped's service. They were going to pick up the larger pieces the day after the work was done but called to let us know they'd pick up the pieces when the ground was able to support their truck without leaving gouges, which they did 5 days later. The cost was equal to the quote. The crew was polite, they left the workspace clean, and we'd recommend them to anyone.

Overall, I was very satisfied with the service. He did a follow-up call to make sure I was happy.

They returned my call promptly, and got back with an estimate quickly as well. Their prices were very good and they were easy to work with.

Don Dechant was in the neighborhood working at a neighbor's house when we asked him to come over and provide an estimate for removing a large tree on the corner of our lot. Don was extremely friendly, easy to talk to, and provided an estimate immediately which we thought was extremely reasonable given the size of the tree. Don told us to call him if we wanted the work done and they would be back the next day. I immediately checked Angie's List and was delighted to see that his company was on the list, so we called him later that afternoon to tell him we wanted him to perform the tree removal service. Don and his workers arrived the next day to remove the tree, which took approximately 3 hours. Don and his workers were very diligent. They came back the next day to grind the stump. Between the tree removal and the grinding of the stump, it took only two days. Don provided excellent, prompt service.

I left a voice mail one Thursday afternoon and Don phoned back the same afternoon; then came to view the trees thirty minutes later. He wrote up an estimate during that same visit, and we agreed that the work would be done during the coming one or two weeks, weather permitting. Don phoned the following Monday to say that the pruning and tree removal would be done the next day if not raining. The pruning and tree removal were done Tuesday. The final grinding of the stumps was done on a subsequent visit with different equipment, on Thursday. Total elapsed time from estimate to completion, was one week. Don is very pleasant to talk with, and the locust tree in particular is very attractive after pruning.
