So satisfied with the quality, price and communication. Job was done exactly as discussed knowing if the roof wood was bad I would have to pay for replacement. I knew exactly what any additional materials I would need so I was prepared for surprises. Fortunately my roof wood was perfect so the bill was to the penny of the estimate. I could have been charged more because I don’t know roofing and can’t climb a ladder to inspect damage so would have paid any additional charges. Fortunately they were honest and I didn’t need any other work done. They cleaned the site when done and the supervisor, Abe Savage, was in constant communication and on site daily to explain what the days activities were and how the process was going. He and the owner even came after the crew finished and inspected their work, check housekeeping of site and make sure I was satisfied before they asked for the balance of my payment! The would have installed any shingles I wanted but they suggested a trusted brand they use. I did my research and was pleased with the quality and warranty. I called the manufacturer and they provided additional warranty info and have in writing they will transfer the warranty to a new home owner as well. Huge bonus! I have already started talks with Sisu on building a new house in the spring. Locally owned and long time community members in Esko, Cloquet and Superior area. The job started good. But I soon realized more time was spent on break than on my roof. Lounging around the yard or sitting in their trucks. One week stretched to two, then three. At the end of 3 weeks I get home from work and see although it was a beautiful day no work had been done at all. After trying to track down someone to tell me what was going on I was directed to Josh Jipson (the owner) who was very rude and argumentative. They claimed an inspector said they had the wrong permit so they didn’t work for another week. At this point the job should have long been completed. Then it rained. My roof wasn’t covered properly so it leaked. The first time it rained I called and the crew did come right away and stopped the leak. The second time it rained I called twice and no one came. When I got home from work no one had ever come, the buckets I had put out had over flowed so much rain came in. My ceiling was laying in the floor. My floor was flooded and it had run down the walls of the room below and ruined tiles in that ceiling. Through the whole process there was garbage and debris all over the yard. The neighbors complained because it was blowing into their yards. Once they left stacks of shingles piled on my back porch blocking my door. Nails were left everywhere. I still don’t dare park in my driveway. After refusing to pay until my ceilings were replaced and all the work done to my satisfaction, they finally finished. It took them two months. Two months of stress, worry and head aches. The finished job seems good but I would NEVER hire this company again.

We couldn’t have been happier with SISU Builders during our kitchen and bathroom project. Not only did they do quality work for a great price, but they were professional, dependable, and honest. They made the renovation on our new house a wonderful experience. We would highly recommend Josh and his team at SISU Builders.

I contacted SISU as part of my roofing estimate process (several other contractors were also contacted). We scheduled an appointment for Josh to inspect the roof and go over the project with him. He was on time, friendly and gave me all the necessary information and answered all my questions. He also was able to give me a rough estimate which I really appreciated. Josh knows the construction business well and he made the entire process seem easy and simple, even though it was the middle of winter (a week before Christmas). We scheduled the days for the roof replacement and Josh was in constant touch with me since the weather was unpredictable. On the day of the work, he was there with the crew as early as 7.40 am. The crew members started the work and completed the roof tearoff by 5pm. The following day, his crew arrived to replace roof. They continued to work for 3 days and cleaned up nicely after they left every day. They professionally took care of all the roof materials including the waste materials and completed all the little touch ups as projected. The crew members were very professional and did a fine job. Josh and his crew did a great job with our roof. He was very quick to respond to calls or emails and really followed through with finalizing our contract, scheduling and all the paperwork to suit our needs. All in all, we had a lot of roofers to choose from but felt very comfortable moving forward with SISU and his crew. We will go to them again for any other construction needs in the future and highly recommend them!

We hired Sisu Builders to remove and replace the siding on our home. Josh was very patient and responsive at every stage of our project. Josh's employees were punctual, meticulous, hard-working, and respectful. Josh was on site and available to answer any questions or concerns we had. The job site was thoroughly cleaned up at the completion of the project. We love our new siding and our home really looks great. We would not hesitate to hire Sisu Builders for future projects.

I had to pay $4300 up front. Then I decided to not tear out a wall because I was going to wait until I could remove the chimney. I got some double talk about other work that we had talked about, and had been left out of the contract, so it was going to still be the same price. The columns in the basement went fine and turned out as good as can be expected. The beams were a completely different story. One small 2x10 beam in the bathroom was just screwed into the existing floor joist and not even touching the 2x4s that it was supposed to be helping support. Then the ends of the 2x10 weren't even anchored to any structural wood at all. It was completely useless but I got charged for it. I had to tear out the wall above so I could add support for the studs above. The other beam was a doubled up 2x12. For some reason they left a large chunk of 2x4 between the jack stud and the king. WHY!?? This left the jack stud out of plumb and prone to fail. They came back to try to correct this. The chunk of 2x4 was removed but that didn't fix any of the other issues. The stud was still not plumb and the beam was an inch and a half out of level. At this point, I asked for an itemized bill for what had been completed and asked for a partial refund. The owner, Josh, said that the contract was for more money. As if I still wanted him to do more work. I told him that I wasn't satisfied with what had been done and didn't think that the work completed was anywhere near the amount that I had paid. This was when I stopped getting any response to my complaints. I priced the materials at around $500. I'm not sure how the labor gets calculated but that's pretty good for a week's work. I now have to hire someone else to repair what they've done. As far as I'm concerned, not living up to your word is the same as theft. I would totally avoid these guys.

Great! The price was very reasonable. They were responsive, showed up right away, and finished the work quickly. They cleaned up after themselves as well. I can't say enough positive things about Josh and Sisu Builders. I would definitely hire them again any time.

The crew was on time and hard working. Various days various crew but Paul Bunai the roofing crew chief was there early and left late every day of the job.  The job was competed quickly and efficiently and way ahead of when I thought it was scheduled to start.  The actual roof temperature reached +140 degrees F,  measured with a laser temp gun.   Josh Jipson the Owner of Sisu Builders LLC was there to lend a hand and ensure the quality of the work on a regular basis.  Quality work was performed by all those involved.  I'd recommend these fellows and company in a heartbeat and plan to see them again in the future for some additional work.

Josh and his crew are gloriously delightful! Of all the contractors I met with, SISU Builders was the only one who provided me with a reasonable estimate. SISU estimate: $17,300.00, other contractors estimates: $38,500.00, $28,000.00, & $28,700.00. My roof is difficult already by having multiple levels (three story) and lots of steep inclines accompanied by extreme/odd angles. To make matters worse (at the time) my roof had multiple layers of shingles, up to 4 layers in some spots, and sections of rot. Josh is straight foreword, punctual, kind, and has no problem answering questions. He always returns calls and has a great work ethic. On top of giving me a reasonable estimate he was the only one who would/could in the winter the others were all estimates for spring time. I still cant believe it, these guys busted their butts and gave me an awesome new roof in Dec-Jan. There was a small section that could not be completed until spring. Without having to call, the very first day they showed up and completed the roof, cleaned up all the left over nails, roofing debris that had been stuck in the snow/ice and were done just before noon. It was just mind blowingly yay! I recommend these guys to everyone and plan to use them in the future for remodeling. Josh came out and gave us an estimate on what it would cost to repair our roof and was out with a crew in about a week to complete the job.  There was some additional water damage we hadn't noticed but he did; and fixed that too! I would highly recommend SiSu for any home construction or repair.

I had SISU builders give me a quote to install new widows and vinyl siding on my home. After many quotes their price was proven to be very reasonable. Although there were some battles with the weather the work was completed as expected. The level of care that was taken was exceptional, the
builders really put in the effort to ensure everything was done properly. Permits were pulled with the city and Josh made sure he was on site to answer any questions the inspector had.

SISU Builders responded quickly to our request by visiting our home and providing a written quote within a couple days. SISU Builders showed up to do the work when they said they would and worked long hours to make sure our home was sealed to the elements. They did quality work, cleaned up the site and best of all, the final bill came in under the estimate. We would hire SISU Builders again.
