Dave and his shop, DJ Auto, was recommended by my former mechanic, who had retired. I didn't like the idea of getting a new mechanic. When I first called Dave and explained what had happened to my car, he listed off a few possibilities but then stated it would be impossible to know for sure without looking at it. He asked if I could have it towed in. He also thought to ask if I needed a recommendation for a tow company. I thought that was good of him. I had my car towed in to his shop and he got straight to work. He quickly diagnosed the problem and gave me an estimate. I told him to go ahead with the repairs and asked how long I could expect to be without wheels. He said about 2-3 days, so long as he could get the parts the next morning. Two days later he called me at work per my request and let me know my car was ready. I had no way over to his shop before it closed and he said "No problem. I'll have one of my guys pick you up from work with your car. What time are you done?" His assistant picked me up promptly at 4:30 and brought me back to the shop. He showed me the damaged parts he had replaced and popped the hood to show me the new parts. He fully explained what had gone wrong and what was done. My repair cost was actually lower than he had estimated because he had thought another part would need to be replaced, but it turned out the existing part was fine. I was relieved to have a smaller bill than expected! He had also checked out the rest of the car and gave it a clean bill of health. I liked Dave and his crew and after this experience, DJ Auto became my regular shop for the next 4 years until I moved out of the area. Even after I moved 260 miles away, he still helped me! I was having trouble with my 1998 Mercury Sable. The taillights went out and I couldn't find a blown fuse and didn't trust the local shops up here. I called him up on the phone and explained the problem. He took the time to look at a wiring diagram for that model car and told me where to find the problem. Sure enough, with his directions, I found and fixed my problem. Now that's service!!
