Prairie Veterinary Associates is fantastic! We've been going for years with our French Bulldog, and since he is our dog-child, we are pretty fussy about the care he receives. Our little guy gets a yearly physical exam, fecal test, and vaccines. On our bill, the physical exam was $43, heartworm test $39, fecal test $19, Lepto Vaccine $16, Lyme Vaccine $33, Bordetella $18.50. The total bill is very reasonable for an annual cost.
We love that they are open until 6pm every day and that they have Saturday hours until noon; it's very convenient so that both my wife and I can attend his appointments. We usually schedule a month in advance, but they have been able to fit our dog in when he's had acute issues like diarrhea or allergic reaction.
Vet Tech Steve is outstanding. He's caring and informative, and really listens to our concerns - even when we're being helicopter dog parents. We love Dr. Amber Bruhn, who joined the practice in early 2015. She is wonderful with our dog and brings a high level of expertise to the practice.
We could recommend Prairie Veterinary Associates to anyone, especially if you're on the East Side or Sun Prairie. Another great thing is that they are willing to sign off on regular prescriptions through online services like 800petmeds or CaliforniaPetPharmacy. It makes it very easy to refill regular medicine like Trifexis or Heartguard.
I've read older reviews and strongly disagree -- my experience over the last six years has been extremely positive.
At this visit, Steve, the vet tech took plenty of time to revisit my cat's history and to listen to all of my questions and concerns. He also was very gentle with my cat, who was quite stressed at having to go to the vet.
Dr. Sandy Wedig has always been a pleasure to work with -- she's friendly, compassionate, and professional, quick to follow up, and never has recommended services that aren't necessary or warranted nor does she push any products (food, supplements, flea medicine) that they sell. After the visit yesterday, she personally called me this morning to follow up on some medication for my cat -- who gets a call from the doctor him/herself anymore?
I have had to get prescription refills in the past, and the staff at the clinic are always so helpful and prompt.
Yes, vet visits are expensive. But I feel fortunate that my entire bill was $250 and it's (hopefully) a once-yearly visit. "Pet parents" can feel very comfortable about seeing Dr. Sandy and her staff -- I would not think of going anywhere else, even if it were cheaper to do so, as they know my senior cat and his needs.
