Giese Concrete & Landscaping Inc

In July of 2008, Giese Concrete installed a driveway and stamped concrete sidewalk & porch.  After numerous emails, we provided Jeremy Giese with the address of a home that had the color and pattern of the stamped concrete that we desired.  Craig, the foreman, assured us that he could achieve something close.  The color was to be something between cream and beige.  I stressed that I did not want anything that was dark.  What we ended up with was medium brown to chocolate brown.  In addition, when the cross cuts were done on the driveway, quarter size pieces chipped out of the corners.  By October, we had several pop outs. When Mr Giese finally came out to look at the driveway and sidewalk in October of 2008, he told us that he never could have achieved the color we wanted.  Should Mr Giese not have been up front about this in the beginning?  The pop outs and quarter size chip outs didn’t concern him.  After the first winter, we had about 100 pop outs. Now, we have several hundred pop outs including crumbling and scaling.    In the spring of 2009, I contacted Lycon who provided the concrete.  Perhaps, we had a bad batch of concrete.  They would not come out to assess the situation unless Mr Giese came out with them.  He was contacted by phone and email and did not respond.  At this point we are both disgusted and disappointed in his poor customer service. Other driveways in our subdivision that are the same age or older do not show this level of damage.  The deterioration of this driveway is not fair wear and tear.  In our estimate, it is either poor concrete or poor workmanship.  Either way, we are out $8,636.00. If you need concrete work done, I suggest that you find someone else.  This has been an expensive nightmare.
