Three months ago, I was sitting at my desk and the fixture, weighing
over 6 pounds, fell on my head. I had a CT scan of my head afterwards
because of subsequent pains. We called Ron two weeks ago, and he came right way.
But he said the reason the fixture fell was because the soldering on top of the fixture
gave way, but the top rim  was already soldered when he attached it to the
ceiling, and his attachments were all correct. He offered to look for
something lighter and safer for my office, but we haven't heard anything
from him

It was suppose to be free pick up and delivery but I was never told that I was out of his area, so I was charged $60.00 for that. He did not mention the $65.00 that Angie's List charged my account.  I had to mention it to him. So his original charge of $320.00 less the $65.00 was $255.00.  What he did do was good work but not worth $255,00.

I had to ask Angie's List to step in and help with this matter on three different occasions but I was told to handle it.

I was very naïve with my expectations of Angie's List as well as with the provider.

Contractor showed up as promised. He was here about an hour and did a decent job. Now I purchased his services using

an Angie's List "Big Deal". When he was done, he claimed in addition to the $99 I paid already, there was a $30 trip charge. Now I've purchased using Big Deal's before and I never had a contractor try to hit me up with a trip charge. I can understand a job costing more if some unforeseen serious issue arose. For example, on this job it clearly stated having to install a box for the fixture was extra. That I can understand. But if I purchase an offer through Angie's List and no trip charge is mentioned, I would not expect the contractor to try to collect one. I told him I would not pay it as the offer was silent on a trip charge. He did not push it but said that should have been stated in the offer.

Another handyman was unable to fix the light.  Light Doctors responded promptly through Angie;s site. There was a trip charge that was not mentioned in the ad, but which they informed me of in the initial email exchange.  The tech showed up on time, was polite, courteous, and neat.
He removed the light and determined what was wrong with it but also determined that there was something wrong with the switch.  He charged me extra for replacing the switch, since his original quote only handled replacing the light.
It was my choice to go to Home Depot and get a replacement switch while he worked at my house.  I got the switch and he replaced it.  He took the light away and returned it on time a few days later repaired. He installed it and it worked.
 I would recommend this service wholeheartedly. It was one of my most positive home repair experiences.

After installing our porch light we wanted to replace our back porch light as well. However, the light we bought to match didn't work with our outlet in the back. Lightdoctor told us it was no problem, and quoted us at $145 for the light. and took the light back to his shop to retrofit  it for the house. This was fantastic, because we had written it off and thought we needed to purchase a new non-matching light.
We picked another day for installation, and he was prompt and installed it perfectly - now it matches and the house lighting looks really great! We know with some projects our house is a pain to work on, and that retrofitting was required, but installation day required an extra fee due to the extra work needed - I can't give an A since the price was a bit higher than quoted, but it was fair and we're happy with the results.
We will definitely use his services for other house lights, as he cleans up and restores original light fixtures, and can refit older lights to more modern homes. A treat to work with, fair pricing, and high quality work.

Quick response. Arrived on time. Professional and courteous. I am very happy with new light fixture.

Service was great, as he is very detail oriented and made sure to get everything right before installing. Quality of service was very high - the end result is a great looking installation. While the price for install ended up being $175, the $79 "deal" is not a deal. It just subtracted $79 from the total bill. Despite the higher price of service, the quality and professionalism was excellent and we plan to use this service again.

A light fixture, which hangs from the ceiling above a kitchen counter in a difficult area to reach, was sparking. We were unable to fix it ourselves so looked at Angie's List and called Best Electric. We were told that it did not do the service we needed but recommended we contact A-1 Light Doctor because Best's customers had had good results with that company. We called and Ron came out, removed our fixture, and took it in for rewiring. He promised to have it back to us by Thursday afternoon at 2:00. On Thursday Ron called a little before 2 and told us he'd be at our home in 15 minutes, which he was. He reinstalled the fixture, which now is working just fine and looks even better than it did before.
