Bob came out in early April to walk the job. He was easy to get a hold of when asking to have him come and very polite and knowledgeable over the phone. He came the next day and we discussed the parameters of the work. He offered great suggestions and guidance. I was a bit put off that he suggested we weren't ready to have a quote built because he was under the impression that we were wishy washy. It seemed hard to get my point across that we wanted to be certain we were moving forward with someone before taking down our screen porch and storm doors but that they would be gone by the time we were given a start date.
His bid game by email and we were pleasantly surprised with the amount.
I called him several times over the next six weeks. The weather this spring was horrible- it rained weekly and he said that he would call when the weather cleared up. After the 2 month mark since signing with bid, my husband called and Bob said that he was working one job and had another before us so he'd call us in three weeks. He didn't. My husband called him at four weeks, which put us near the 3 month mark since the bid had been returned and had to really press to have us worked into the schedule. If there was anything I would have liked to have seen done differently, it would have been much more pro-active communication on Bob's part to keep us in the loop, especially since we had put off a roofing job that we ended up scheduling out of sequence to not put that contractor out.
Bob came out the afternoon my husband called the second time to do the final walk through. He is VERY thorough and meticulous which really put my mind at ease despite the lack of communication thus far. He came the next day to do the power washing and remove the gutters and said that he would be gone a day to finish an interior job. He was back Wednesday at 9:30 and they began the job. They started with all the areas that needed gutters so we could get those put up as soon as possible because there was rain in the forecast. A great attention to detail on Bob's part that was very much appreciated.
Over the next week (save Sunday), Bob and Tony and one other gentleman I saw on a single day hand painted every inch of the trim on our house. Three garage doors, three exterior doors, 14 sets of shutters. They were fast but thorough and paid close attention to the edges and cleaned up any drips immediately. Tony scraped a lot of caulking off the siding in the back where the old screen porch had been and painted it. Bob had seen a piece of our shed that was hanging off and took the siding to Sherwin Williams to color match- again with a great solution.
On the final day, Bob and his wife Jill (who was very sweet to our dogs) came to put up the shutters. Bob spent hours on a final walk through with a can of paint and a brush, touching up places he wasn't happy with. He did wait to tell us until that morning that he would like payment upon completion instead of invoicing. Not a huge issue, but it would have been nice to have had that information up front to not have to run to the bank at the last minute. The original bid was amended to include some extras- the mounting of the shutters and the painting of the siding by the deck- but we felt that Bob was still a hidden gem of a bargain and we were grateful he was flexible with the scope of the job expanding probably an extra day.
Some mixed communication aside, our house looks beautiful. Bob was thorough, knowledgeable and particular- you'd think he was painting his own home. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again.

The project was executed very professionally. It began at the agreed date, progress was made even quicker than we expected, and it was even finished ahead of schedule and at the agreed upon price. The attention to detail that was given was also above and beyond expectations, as things were taken care of that my wife and I hadn't even thought of or asked for initially. We were very happy with our experience and can't recommend them highly enough!

Bob is the best painting contractor we have ever used in any of our homes. We are new to the WI area and purchased a home that was in need of fresh paint. When you are new to an area and do not have any personal recommendations then you rely on sites such as Angies List to obtain recommendations from others in the area. We found Bob on Angie's List and feel blessed to have found out that we hired " The Best of The Best" ! Bob and his assistant, Tony, are always highly professional and detail oriented. They are trustworthy and pleasant- they even became friends with our pet! Their work is meticulous and even the local paint supply store has indicated unaided that we couldnt have hired a more meticulous and professional painting contractor. This team brings a level of artistry to their craft and as such we have already asked Bob to paint our homes exterior! Excellent. We are thrilled with Bob's work. He hired him because he came highly recommended and because when he'd done some exterior painting on my elderly mother-in-law's home, he carefully rearranged all her patio furniture under a tree so she could still sit outside in the evenings, and then moved it all back for her when he was done. He really took special care of her as a person, not just as a job. That's what tipped our decision to hire him in the first place and I'm so glad we did. He was with us for almost 3 months for one phase and back again for another shorter phase the next year. When we need work done in the future, he'll absolutely be our man. He is a Master Painter (we learned that there is more to painting than merely slopping paint on a wall!) and his expertise really shows in the results. We LOVE what he did to our home and we get many compliments on it. Not only was his artistry impeccable, but his recommendations proved to be perfect, including my flooring, a very artistic eye all the way down to helping me arrange my furniture when he was finished. He was very honest with keeping track of his hours, in fact I know he did a number of things that never got "on the clock." Our "amount spent" includes reimbursements for supplies he picked up for us. He used excellent quality materials and was personable, helpful, and friendly. He was trustworthy to leave alone in our home while we were out, in fact, at one point we were running late and called him at our home and asked him to let my daughter's piano students in when they came to the door and have them start warming up until we got there, and he did! Another time when we were late he let our dogs out for us. He was always very careful with our gates so the dogs wouldn't escape. He was extremely gentle with our belongings, as he had to move things around, and when the workday was finished, he always left things in the best possible condition for us to "live in" - cleaned things up and put things away. We've had other workmen come in and toss our stuff around like garbage and we've never hired them again, but Bob was always very thoughtful about this being our home and not merely his job site. Because he was with us so long, he became like family. He even taught my 20-year-old son some painting skills. At the end of the work phase, he planted a cedar shrub in an empty spot in front of our house and filled the area in with lovely white stone as a "thank you" for having him do such a long-term project - wow! Not only is he an artist, but he is a kind man. Virtually every day when he came onto the job and I asked him how he was, the answer included how his wife and girls were doing. I wish every husband/father would speak of their family with the obvious pride and adoration he has for his "girls". He really won our hearts as well as our respect and our loyalty. I would hire him again in a heartbeat and I recommend him highly.
