Overall, this experience still has a bad taste with all the issues that I have with my new home--even after 5+ years have gone by.  My husband and I had another company draw up our plans for what we wanted.  Northwoods Builders were supposed to do everything else.  They framed our house without an issue.  The issues started with the drywall.  After a week had gone by and we were surprised that nothing had been done, we contacted the contractor, to find out that the drywaller never came out.  When they finally sent someone out to do the work, they rushed and the texture on many parts of the drywall is messed up--not to mention the fact that they actually drywalled over a smoke alarm box!  Not something you would want if you had already had a housefire.  Not only did they mess up the drywall, they painted it a bright white instead of an off-white.  When approached for the horrible final result, the drywall company offered $500 discount.  Not much on a 1800sq ft. ranch with a basement finished as well.  Our contractor did nothing to fix it.  Told us that once we put stuff on our walls it wouldn't be as noticeable.  Too bad he paid them.  In addition, he contracted out our flooring.  6 months later my kitchen tiles were coming up.  To find out that the flooring wasn't put down right--too thick and dry that the tiles never stuck to the underlay.  Outside faucets that don't work, windows without grills eventhough I asked, and an entryway that never got the brick like it was supposed to.  The only thing I can say I love about my home is the 6-panel oak doors and wanted, and the countertops and cabinets--of course, that is because I picked them out at another company and had them installed.I had never heard anything bad about this contractor, but I think he made up for it with us.  Would never recommend to anyone else.  As a contractor, they don't do a lot of the work themselves--it is their job to contract out to good companies.  We lost on many counts.
