Johnson Mechanical (Bob especially) are the worst! I had them put in a Unico High Velocity unit in April 2019. I have had nothing but problems. The main problem is with the install and the service. They (Bob and Vern) have been out to try to fix their problems but have given up and walked away with my money and left me with a system that is undersized and not performing to what was promised. They were always in a hurry to leave and then the system stopped working shortly after they left, or they were not able to fix it at all. They could not even detect something simple as a refrigerant leak (Pointon Heating figured it out right away). One of the main problems is that the system was UNDER sized from the start. It has been verified by 3 different contractors specializing in Unico Systems AND from Unico themselves. Other problems include wrong thermostats, leaks in the coolant system, programing not setup right, not insulating duct work the correct way, leaking ducts, bad wiring…..the list goes on and on. Some of these problems could be fixed (not by Johnson Mechanical because they don’t know what they are doing) but most of it is bad install and the wrong equipment. Bob and Johnson Mechanical refused to stand by their work. Unico stopped wanting them to come and work on things because Bob and Johnson Mechanical had no idea what they were doing. Like many other reviews I find once Bob got tired of working with you he would be rude and hang up on you. I spent ~$16K on a system that is undersized and not installed correctly. Unico said they would help out with new parts but I am out all the install costs. Unico has stood behind it’s product and has sent any replacement parts that where needed. I have continued to try and work with Bob but he says he does not care what Unico and the other experts say and he will not return any of my money. Never use Johnson Mechanical they are the worst contractors I have ever dealt with and I work with contractors for a living.

Because they had to put in a special fan and they had to give everything an extra line in there for heating, I would say the cost was about $4000. The fan had to be ordered. It's a special fan. They got it right away. He sent for it right away. They were very nice; they were very quiet.

This home is my deceased in-laws rental property that our family was readying to sell. Rick Nietzel met me at the house and took a look at the furnace, which was very old and burned oil. He recommended that we also consider replacing the water heater as it was very apparantly nearing the end of it's life. We upgraded to an energy efficient furnace and water heater that will now utilize natural gas. They also had to reconfigure some pipework. The furnace selected qualifies for the energy tax credit so the estate will be receiving some money back. Rick also walked through my in-laws personal home which we had been also readying to sell. He inspected the furnace/water heater and let me know that both were in acceptable condition and did not need to be replaced. As we were walking through the house he noticed that the air filter had not been changed for a LONG time. He recommended that we do so in order to make the home more energy efficient. I appreciated the fact that he was honest in that the HVAC system was in good operating condition and did not need to be replaced. I also appreciated him sharing helpful information as we toured the rest of the home.
