Roofing
We were extremely disappointed by Bastrup who was paid but did not repair the original roof leak issue.

Roofing, Gutter Repair and Replacement
Before choosing our roofer, we called some industry contacts and they had recommended Bastrup. Apparently, the father was excellent, however, it has since been passed down to his son, where it has gone downhill fast.
We needed a complete tear-off and new roof along with new gutters on the front of our house. The company was great and very responsive to setting up the job. However, the first day on the job, they were rude, messy, and left damage including torn window screens from debris falling and dead grass as the job was done in the summer and they left large roofing debris lay on the grass around the house for 2 days.
After they completed the job, my husband and his uncle who have replaced roofs in the past, went up to inspect the job and had a laundry list of things that Bastrup needed to come back to fix such as: they did not caulk nails visible on end caps, Roof edge was not cut to produce a straight edge, more than 20 shingles were damaged / torn from walking on them in extremely hot weather and some granular material was rubbed completely off, and there was no caulking or material placed where house siding met roof which allowed for a squirrel to build its nest and have a family in our siding. We also had purchased an extra package of shingles for potential future repair but no extra package was provided.
In addition to the roofing issues, we had requested they put up gutters on the front of the house. The new gutter section was attached so poorly it had to be taken down. The gutters they installed are not large enough to accommodate the amount of water converging and flowing down our roof to ground points which have caused water issues in our basement. If we look at the gutters in the middle of a downpour, water is pouring over the sides because the gutters they installed are too small. They never returned any of our calls and we never saw them again. They left a mess of nails, gutter tin scraps, plastic material, rubber bands, and cigarette butts on the new shingles and on our driveway. There was so much, it was noticeable on the roof from street. A few weeks later, we had leaks where we never had leaks before. We now have gaping holes in our garage roof where the water has saturated the drywall and it needs to be replaced.
We highly advise against using Bastrup Roofing. They were the cheapest quote and it?s true that you get what you pay for.

Roofing
Before contracting Bastrup, I talked to a couple of people that had used them and they thought he was great.
However, there were leaks all over the roof the first time it rained. The seams were done poorly at best, already seperating one week later. The edges were not secured at all and they pulled back leaving large gaps at the edge where water poured in any time it rained.
I called constantly for several weeks to get them out to fix it. A couple of days I called every half hour. No answer and no response to messages left on the office phone nor the 2 cell phones.
There were 3 old HVAC units on the roof to be removed. I found the sub that did it. His deal was that he got to remove the units for scrap value only. A lot of free labor by a freelance scrap collector (like the guys that roam neighborhoods the night before garbage collection). Classy.
I even went by their shop on which WE Energies had hung a notice of disconnect for both electric and gas. Not much could be seen inside the building. It looked like they grabbed anything of value that they could carry and ran.
If they are still in business, don't bother. You'll be really sorry!

I got 5 estimates. They varied from $3000 to $5500. Bastrup
had a good Angies List report so I chose them. They came out and did a good job installing a 24' x 20' flat rubber roof. They did not really honor the warrenty.Mark S.

These guys are pretty straight forward, I don't like salesmen so I was happy that I never once felt pressured to make a decision! I didn't expect them to start working the day they were supposed to, due to 60% chance of rain, but they were at it with no hesitation. Job was done in 2 days. The cleanup could of been a little better, but there is a lot of debris from neighbors tree and uneven ground due to my dogs digging. Price was very competitive and the roof looks great! Overall I am very happy with the result. Would I recommend them? Yes. When it comes time to do the roof on my rental property they will be getting my business.

Overall we are looking forward to having them do our siding next. Make sure and ask for their advertising discount.
