Tony, who came to the house to give us a bid, and Tim and Derek, who performed the work, did an awesome job! They were all professionals from start to finish. Very pleased with their work and highly recommend the company for any residential needs.

They're fabulous.  We use them for heating, we use them for air conditioning, we also had them install a full house back-up generator, plumbers - they just provide it all and they're wonderful.  It was plumbing work that we had done this time.  They do commercial as well as residential.  I would most definitely use them again.  There was just one person to complete this work.  He was very professional; he was very nice.  He really was very neat in his work, very efficient in his work, and very creative.  He had to come up with a creative fix for this and he really did a terrific job.  I would say he might have been here an hour and a half, two hours.  He left the area immaculate.  They solved my issue and actually made doing laundry much easier; I no longer have to buy those lint filters.  I've had a lot of experience with them because we had them do ... they installed the furnace, they installed our air conditioning new system, they do service on both the air conditioning and the furnace, and they also installed and service a full house back-up generator.  They did a scheduled cleaning of the furnace filter and the air conditioning system and that was probably about two months ago.  They're on a regular schedule to do our furnace maintenance; they come once a year to check on the generator, but that would have been more than a year ago.

We had them install a 20 KW standby generator and a air/heat exchanger. They lived up to their quote and did the work in a very timely matter. The company also cleaned up after themselves. We were very pleases that we used this company. We used them for 2 jobs because we were so satisfied with the company.

Our Eternal Water Heater stopped working and Alan came out late in the evening to take care of the problem.  We couldn't have asked for better service.

Our basement work / storage area had only one duplex outlet when we moved in. We were running a water softener, dehumidifier, full size freezer and several shop lights off a multitude of extension cords.  Also, the room only had one small pull chain light, with no switch. Total installed two additional overhead fixtures, and put them all on one wall switch. They added a dedicated outlet for our freezer, and one for the softener & dehumidifier.  They also added several other outlets for our workbench, shop lights, etc.  Our panel was full, so they added a sub-panel and whole home surge protection. Additionally, they converted the existing microwave hood to a wall outlet above our cabinets for accent lighting, and added a new dedicated outlet for an over the range microwave.
The service tech was right on time and very courteous and helpful.  He was very knowledgeable about code issues, and able to work with us to get the exact placement everything "just right".  Since we had not yet mounted our new cabinet & microwave above the stove, he explained the code issues for us, and provided us the proper wall box to allow us to install our cabinet & microwave correctly.  (When the inspector came, he pulled off the cover and looked at the work, and was impressed.  He stated that often, that is done incorrectly, we had a good electrician.)
The service tech even took a bit of time and cleaned up some "messy" wiring in our panel due to previous homeowner DIY.
All in all, I was impressed with the work, and the service. I would use them again.

They came and took a look at the problem and determined that the outlet was out of code (not surprising in a 1959 house). When the gentleman tested it it worked again, he was very nice and replaced the breaker switch for free even though there was nothing obvious that had caused the issue. He explained that it happens occasionally that a breaker switch as it gets older will trigger internally but it won't trigger the external switch.
Great and friendly service with a good explanation on what was likely to be the cause. I would definitely use them again.

They did a fantastic job. They came the same day we requested servce. We had an issue with the electrical sockets in our bathrooms not working, but the lights did. They found the issue and fixed it. We appreciated their promptness and thought they did a great job!

Total attempted to repair the unit initially, and found that the problem was the valve mentioned above.  They offered to take the price of the first attempt off the total cost of the repair.  They also told us they had replaced at least 10 other units in our building, and that each was custom made and would take 6-8 weeks to obtain.  We sought two other estimates.  One company never responded.  The other sent an estimator who never opened the unit to confirm what was wrong, and subsequently provided a written estimate a few hundred dollars higher than the first estimate, and with the same 6-8 week lead time.  I then asked the second company whether they honored the 10% Angie's List coupon.  The estimator said her original estimate includes a 5% discount, so she would take an additional 5% off once I mentioned Angie's List.  This struck me as reducing the value of the Angie's List coupon to 5%.  We therefore chose the first company and ordered the unit.  The unit arrived right within the time period estimated, and we scheduled installation a few days later.  The installer arrived right on time, and had the unit installed within an hour.  It immediately began producing much cooler air but, since the outside temperature was about 70 degrees, we couldn't give the heat a good test.  Our tenants will report on how the heater works as soon as it gets a bit colder outside, and the installer gave me a card and told me to contact him with any questions.  The price was exactly as quoted, including a credit for the cost of the initial repair visit.

They are an excellent company but I think they have been bought out by another company. They were excellent. I live in a house that was built in 1933 and they seemed to know how to deal with the older electrical problems, which was very good to have someone that could deal with older houses. I was quite satisfied with the price. The quality was excellent. I was totally satisfied with them. I would certainly use them again.

We were very happy with the service that we received and would definitely use them again.  The price was a little higher than a couple of others that we looked at but they seemed to have a better understanding of what we wanted as far as where our hot tub was placed.  We wanted to make sure we got what we wanted and were happy that we chose to go with Total Mechanical.  They were able to patch the area of the patio that they needed to go through and made it so it was not too noticeable.

Total Mechanical is listed as a "single-source mechanical contractor, offering plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and fire protection services", but the technician was a plumber and didn't seem to know very much about the HVAC part of our work request, nor did he come prepared to install CO/smoke detectors. So of the three requests we made, one was satisfactory (gas line to laundry), one was never performed (CO/smoke detector install), and one is suspect in workmanship (water heater and furnace exhaust venting). There were delays because the technician needed to go to a local hardware store to buy a properly sized fitting (the on-hand inventory was limited) for the gas line, and more delays because they didn't have the HVAC Y-joint available (something they should have been prepared for, given we had made the appointment well in advance). They didn't charge us for the time spent in delays, which was a good thing given their hourly rate. We are a little unsure as to whether the Y-joint that was installed is up to code and will have to schedule an inspector to verify the work. The CO/smoke detectors were not installed because the technician was never told that they were part of the work request. I'm not sure that I would have been comfortable having a plumber perform that installation anyway. As attractive as a 'single-source contractor" sounds, in hind sight I should have gone with three different companies that specialize in the three different types of work. Up front, the concept of Total Mechanical seemed fine, but now I'm not so sure they're really prepared to specialize in all types of mechanical work.

We are happy with them.  They do a good job.  They charged us $1000.  The price was okay.  Their ability of fixing things was very good.  They have good follow through.  We like them.  We would use them again in the future.
