During the scheduling process I learned that the Energy House partners with a company called Wisconsin Home Improvement for some of their work. I was told this from the contracted company, the Energy House was not upfront about this. I decided to continue with the services and took a day off work to be there when the 2 man crew arrived. The crew was given little instruction on what was supposed to be done (what I was quoted by the Energy House) and suggested a different way to "fix" my problem.
I had to call the Energy House to get everyone on the same page, so after about an hour the crew actually started the work. They ran into issues that were not caught by the Energy House during the inspection/quoting process. They did not have the proper tools or time on that day to complete the job and suggested I reschedule for another day.
I tried to reschedule however, their partner, Wisconsin Home Improvement was less than prompt to return phone calls and set up an additional appointment. After about a week they called me back to reschedule but the person on the phone still didn't know what work needed to be done. I canceled the job and will be taking my business somewhere else in the future.
"The small area [Member Name] wanted us to complete turned out to be filled with ducts and pipes making the job very difficult. This area was enclosed during the review and was not opened up until the work was in progress. Our installer called to ask for advice as there was not great way to complete the job the project was postponed as there turned out to be almost no way to complete the job based on the amount of items in the cavity. We called to reschedule and the owner cancelled. As the owner never contacted me I was unaware of his confusion over this very small area. As for our partners we have trade allies in every portion of the industry from windows, to roofs to, siding and many more. It is unwise to think you are good at everything and we work with the best of each discipline in construction and bring in experts that can best treat the problem."
Very professional, explained for me how roof venting works, and let me know that every thing was how it should be, and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need.
I could get into the details, but hands down it was a great experience. I would trust them again, and felt safe with the crew in my home (we had Tom and Peter). Outside of the great work they did, they were ridiculously clean.
"Hi [members name], I think you may us confused with someone else, we did not audit or insulate your house. Please contact me at 414-708-2766 Thanks Doug McFee The Energy House LLC"
The auditor that did the inspection was right on time, respectful, knowledgeable, and explained everything very clearly.
The inspector tested the heating system, water heater, exhaust fans, and measured the levels of insulation in the attics and walls while using a thermal imaging camera. He calculated how much energy my refrigerator, dehumidifier, and light bulbs were using and using a Blower Door system he was able to determine where my house was leaking air and explained that by having those leaks sealed I'd keep more heat in over the winter and heat out in the summer.
With all of the information gathered, Energy House was able to determine the best way to save the most amount of money and spend the least amount of money to do it.
Now I have a much more comfortable home that is energy efficient, quiet, and saving me money.
I highly recommend Energy House for their services!
