Very thorough & fixed areas of concern to our satisfaction. We no longer have ice dams which was our main reason for hiring them.

He did the services as stated in the Angie's List deal.  Based on the written report and estimate and my knowledge of the situation, I felt his proposal did not address our needs.  Since then we have had an energy audit with a more detailed air pressure procedure from another company.  This second company provided a much better solution to our problem and a much lower cost than The Energy House.

Everything turned out fine.  They did what they said they would do. There was one person here doing the inspection.

When he was there it was wonderful. Something fell in the cracks after he left, so he said he was going to email me a summary of his findings and recommendations but I didn't ever receive that. I like what he said though, I learned things from him but we would have followed up and hired him to do something if we have gotten his recommendation. We had a follow up conversation which I really appreciated so I was disappointed not to have gotten the actual report. He has great deal of expertise, that's for sure, a lot of experience and just very clear on what needs to happen to help the house be more energy efficient and comfortable.

Recommendation:  If you do decide use the Energy House, be sure to ask up front who is actually going to be doing the work, The Energy House or their partners.
During the scheduling process I learned that the Energy House partners with a company called Wisconsin Home Improvement for some of their work.  I was told this from the contracted company, the Energy House was not upfront about this.  I decided to continue with the services and took a day off work to be there when the 2 man crew arrived.  The crew was given little instruction on what was supposed to be done (what I was quoted by the Energy House) and suggested a different way to "fix" my problem.
I had to call the Energy House to get everyone on the same page, so after about an hour the crew actually started the work.  They ran into issues that were not caught by the Energy House during the inspection/quoting process.  They did not have the proper tools or time on that day to complete the job and suggested I reschedule for another day.
I tried to reschedule however, their partner, Wisconsin Home Improvement was less than prompt to return phone calls and set up an additional appointment.  After about a week they called me back to reschedule but the person on the phone still didn't know what work needed to be done.  I canceled the job and will be taking my business somewhere else in the future.

Response from Energy House LLC
"The small area [Member Name] wanted us to complete turned out to be filled with ducts and pipes making the job very difficult. This area was enclosed during the review and was not opened up until the work was in progress. Our installer called to ask for advice as there was not great way to complete the job the project was postponed as there turned out to be almost no way to complete the job based on the amount of items in the cavity. We called to reschedule and the owner cancelled. As the owner never contacted me I was unaware of his confusion over this very small area. As for our partners we have trade allies in every portion of the industry from windows, to roofs to, siding and many more. It is unwise to think you are good at everything and we work with the best of each discipline in construction and bring in experts that can best treat the problem."

Very professional, explained for me how roof venting works, and let me know that every thing was how it should be, and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need.

I was initially impressed.  They knew their stuff, were thorough, and explained well.  My husband concurred.  We are interested in upgrading our insulation and installing the bathroom fan they recommended.  But, I can't get ahold of them.  I've received messages on my phone asking me if I was pleased with their service, or had any questions about their estimate.  I've called the number three times and never heard from them.  It's been a week!

Originalty scheduled 03/26/14. Didn't come. I had to call approx 1/2 hour after scheduled time. Doug said he forgot to call. Doug came on time 04/17 . Doug did an energy audit which was not anywhere as detailed as an energy audit that I had had approx 20 years ago. It did not identify that I had significant heat leakage at one bay window which the previous audits had. Doug said he would have the report done the following monday or tuesday and he would call me and schedule a time to meet. The following Thursday, he called and left a message that I should call to schedule a meet time. I called back about 4-5 days afterwards and left a message that I just had surgery and was in no mood to meet. He should just send me the report. By May 3rd, I still had not gotten the report. I called and told him again to send me the report. He said he would email me the report. I had expected a written report , describing what he ad done, what he had found, what can be done to minimize energy loss and estimate of energy savings as I had received 20 years ago. I got all the pictures he had taken and a not very comprehensive proposal of costs. None of the other items that I had expected and received in the past were in the"report".

I used a different company for my Energy Audit, and immediately regretted it.  I called The Energy House and Doug gave me a much more reasonable bid on the work.  I scheduled them for a 3 day job. These guys were great.  Once they opened up the walls, the job was nothing like what was bid.  The crew did a great job of adjusting on the fly, and they were quick to come up with solutions.  Doug did a great job of working with me and the crew to keep the job affordable and to make sure all went well.
I could get into the details, but hands down it was a great experience.  I would trust them again, and felt safe with the crew in my home (we had Tom and Peter).  Outside of the great work they did, they were ridiculously clean.

The service was okay.  I have still no fixed the problem because of another issue.  The work was unsuccessful the first time.  They came and did the audit, but the work was unsuccessful.  They did that again and it's still not right.  I paid $6500 for the insulation job.  I don't know about the auditing because the guys who did the insulation were different.  First time, it was fairly decently examined.  The young gentleman took the responsibility of cleaning up and the last one was terrible.

The auditor was on time, friendly and professional.  He checked my heating and cooling system, fans, insulation, and windows, and checked for air leaks (doors, windows, etc.)  He gave explanations as to what he was going to do, and then was very willing to answer any questions I had.  When he was done, we went over a list of things I can do to lower my energy costs - from quick and inexpensive items I can do right away to a couple that I'll need to save up for.  Overall, I thought it was a good experience and I can see how I'll be able to save on my energy costs.  It also gave me a chance to look at my house in ways that I don't think about or notice every day. Well worth the cost.

The auditor I had do my energy audit was amazing!  He was prompt and professional. With many contractors I am cautious and somewhat distant, but the auditor I had made me so comfortable and at ease with the entire process. I felt that I could completely trust the findings he came up with because he explained each step to me. I learned more about my own home in the time he was here than the entire 12 years I have been living here. He used an amazing array of equipment to test my house for air leakage, insulation and safety of my furnace and water heater.  My Energy House auditor found that my furnace and water heater were both back drafting because of a squirrel nest in my chimney, the carbon monoxide from the furnace was filling my basement to really high and dangerous levels. Our whole family was feeling ill all winter and now we know the reason. Thank you, thank you, thank you Energy House for solving our mystery and making my house safe!!!   As part of our audit  they recommended a contractor to fix the chimney and furnace and also a insulation contractor. Our work was completed last week and I could not be happier. I know my family is safe from the carbon monoxide and my house is now energy efficient.  I noticed that our home stays much cooler now and my air conditioner does not run all the time. I know I will be saving money on my energy bill because I used Energy House!

I had an energy audit conducted on my home by an Energy House professional and it resulted in a lot of money saved.
The auditor that did the inspection was right on time, respectful, knowledgeable, and explained everything very clearly.
The inspector tested the heating system, water heater, exhaust fans, and measured the levels of insulation in the attics and walls while using a thermal imaging camera. He calculated how much energy my refrigerator, dehumidifier, and light bulbs were using and using a Blower Door system he was able to determine where my house was leaking air and explained that by having those leaks sealed I'd keep more heat in over the winter and heat out in the summer.
With all of the information gathered, Energy House was able to determine the best way to save the most amount of money and spend the least amount of money to do it.
Now I have a much more comfortable home that is energy efficient, quiet, and saving me money.
I highly recommend Energy House for their services!
