DRIESSEN CARPENTRY

My house is very old and needed a lot of work. Everything was original. Wood siding, weighted windows, most of the windows cracked or broken, basement windows all bad, one had rotted right off the house, we had plexi-glass to cover the opening, and it needed a new roof. The front of the house is an enclosed porch, very weathered and most of the windows had cracked or broken. One of the windows had rotted so bad the glass was falling out. The whole house was white with black trim, and peeling badly. You could see the bare wood. We had tried painting it the year before, repairing windows, caulking, etc.. My family all turned out to help. The neighbors got quite a kick out of that, but the paint didn't take, the windows were so old they fell apart or cracked when we tried to glaze them. Most of the storms were shot. We were all so disappointed. All that hard work. One thing 'tho...the house was now brown instead of white, and it looked Great at Halloween! I didn't have to do too much to make it look spooky... We have a program through the City of Oshkosh for home repair, to help improve our neighborhoods and quality of life. I applied and received the help I needed to repair my home. There were contractors to meet and go over things with, figure out what needed to be done and the cost, when to start, etc... One of the contractors was Driessen Carpentry. I met with Jim Driessen and felt comfortable with him right away. He was very courteous and I felt confident that he knew what he was doing. He explained things to me so I'd understand what needed to be done and the how's and why's of that. Not pushy at all, he made sure I had all the info, good and bad, so I could make a good decision. I chose Jim to do the work, and I'm very pleased with the way it went. I definitely made the right choice with Jim Driessen and recommend him to anyone who needs work done on their home. He was very respectful to me and my family, working out when he'd be there, what he'll be doing that day, if we needed to vacate the house for certain jobs, { ex. I had lead paint in the house and we had to be out of the house for that work to be done}, he'd tell us ahead of time so we could make arrangements. He even worked around our two cats. Everything was done in a timely manner and cleaned up each day. If there was a glitch in the works, like bad weather or a wiring problem, maybe the area needed to be cleared so they could work...He always told me about it and we figured it out. Everything was run by me beforehand. I want to make sure the ladies out there know too...I am a divorced mother of four...my children are grown, 20's and 30's...they take turns living with me, which I like of course. My point here is, I never felt threatened or uncomfortable in any way with Jim and his crew. They were always kind, courteous, respectful, and made sure things were the way I wanted them. I will call Jim again. He went above and beyond to make me happy. His work is precise, everything looks good and is solid, and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He is a true professional. I'm very pleased with the way the house turned out, and my neighbors are happy too! I've received many compliments on how nice it looks. Drive down Monroe Street and take a look. The only thing is...now it's going to be harder to make it look spooky for Halloween!
