KUEHNI ROOFING

I will start by saying that the roof is gorgeous. That being said, I would never recommend this company to anyone, and would not hire them again if I had to do it over. Since it's only been completed for a week, I can't say whether or not it leaks, but it looks good. Kuehni was scheduled to start on October 1. He was delayed from another job a couple days, but then didn't show up until Wednesday, 10/10/12. Dropped off his tools and stuff and left; returned the next two days and did a little work, beginning on the garage (which drove me nuts since the house was the last part to get finished). That weekend it rained about 4" so the house was SOAKED inside. I have kept a log of the days he worked, didn't show up, said he would work and didn't, etc, but the general pattern was, arrive at 11:00, work anywhere from 2-4 hours, and leave before dark. There were a couple days he actually did work till dark, but that was near the end of the job. Throughout the entire time he had repeatedly told us he would work on weekends to "get it done", but then wouldn't show up. On October 22, I couldn't take it anymore, and asked our contractor to put something over the roof to keep the rain out. Kuehni had a fit when the contractor showed up with plastic, walked off the job and didn't come back until October 26. The job was completed on Monday, November 12, but that was after he was almost done - just had about 3 sheets to put up and do all the finish work (24" roof cap, touch ups, etc) - for some reason he got to that point on Tuesday November 6th, but then didn't show up until Friday night, did about 1 hour's worth of work, came for about 1 hour on Saturday, then finally finished on Monday, November 12. We especially didn't understand, because to try to get him to keep working, we had said that if he completed the roof by Wed the 7th, we would submit his invoice for the November draw, and pay him right away. Overall, the experience was horrible. It has delayed the completion of the house to the point that while we could have been in sometime in early December, we're now looking at mid-January (besides his own delays, now we've got to deal with deer hunting and holidays). I understand that things happen to delay starting, and working, but this was someone who, just as an example, literally arrived at 11:00, took a 45 minute lunch with his feet hanging out the truck door, and then left at 2:00 for a dentist appointment - come on, get the job done. This was absolutely horrible.
