Home Building
I cannot recommend this builder. Now having gone through a second builder, we see a complete contrast in how a home build project should happen. The lack of effective communication through the build process and general disregard for good project management is what leads to this review. We believe our build process should have been a positive experience. Not everything goes perfect in a build. However, it is how you manage those items that shows the builder’s true character. And an attitude of, well I got you in, is not the right attitude. Our entire HVAC system had to be replaced as it was incorrectly sized and planned. Our front entry door needs to be replaced as it was not installed plum. Four people came out to look at it, all saying the same thing, and nothing was ever done. The mudroom floor was installed incorrectly. The installer came out, said it was the product and we never saw them again. The siding, which should have been installed in 3 weeks or so, took over 4 months to install while it sat on the ground and run over by various other subs. This led to a huge waste in material and unnecessary paint mismatches after install. The brickwork mortar was allowed to spill down onto windows and was left behind requiring the replacement of the windows. Overall poor floor planning led to numerous issues with layout and many areas had to have workarounds to solve basics (like where a light switch goes). If you ask for high energy efficiency in the hardware, make sure that is what is being installed. Not the cheapest least efficient possible. Lastly, if you really do decide to build with Zach, ensure you ask for the “cost plus contract”. As we learned too late, there are builders out there that are transparent with pricing and all invoices. They would not provide ALL invoices without this in place as we were told after the fact. I cannot recommend anyone go with this builder. You remember the last impression at the end of the project.

He works like it is his own house. He does not take any shortcuts and he is very honest.

OUR OVERALL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS BUILDER WAS EXTREMELY POSITIVE. WE FOUND THEM TO BE RESPONSIVE IN DEALING WITH ISSUES. THEY USE A VERY HIGH QUALITY OF SUBCONTRACTORS, WHO WERE ALSO RESPONSIVE AND PROFESSIONAL. WE HAD NO MAJOR ISSUES.
