 + -1 moreWe met the Nehmey couple at the State Fair Home Show. We filled out a form to get an estimate. They contacted my husband and left him a voicemail to set up a time to come out and give us a quote. My husband took about a week to call them back because he forgot about it. He called twice over the span of a week and left a voicemail both times requesting a call back to schedule a quote. We never heard from them. I then went online several days later to request a quote through their website. About 4 days later, I got an email stating I would be contacted ASAP to schedule a quote. It has now been almost 10 days since I went online and made the request and still have not gotten a phone call to schedule a quote. Clearly this company is not interested in getting business and has an extremely poor response time. Not impressed. I have given up on them.

 + -1 moreAbsolutely excellent. They had a detailed schedule and they stuck to it. When they said something was going to be done, it was done. They showed pride in their work. This was a huge upheaval to our life and they made it very positive and fun and exciting. Every day when I came home from work, I couldn't believe the transformation. All of the different trades groups that came in to do their part (concrete, electric, plumbing, roofers, etc.) were also very kind, considerate and professional. They all took pride in their work and had an enthusiasm about them that made the experience really special. I guess that in summary, John Nehmey, his immediate staff (especially Lee and Randy) and all the special trades involved in this project were outstanding! This is quality craftsmanship beyond compare. Another thing is that Lee and Randy, who were at the house almost every day during the project which spanned many months didn't make us feel uncomfortable. They went about their work and interaction with them was comfortable. You didn't feel awkward around them at all. I guess that it is because they are true professionals and perfectionists immersed in their work. They both had great ideas for making our remodel great in our daily living.
Description of Work: Extensive remodel and addition. This included a complete remodel of kitchen that included bumping a wall into an existing dining room, building out into a screen porch and removing a portion of a wall leading into the family room. A bathroom off the kitchen was also remodeled. Aside from the kitchen the second biggest part of this job was building a room over the attached garage and extending the garage to be in line with the kitchen bump out. We are extremely particular and took 2 years to plan this work and select a contractor. My husband was looking at 10 companies and narrowed it down to 3. After selecting Nehmey Construction he turned out to be head and shoulders above all that were considered, and they were all excellent as well. John Nehmey and his staff are experienced, creative, friendly, professional and not afraid to make a suggestion if it will make the end product more to your liking. Instead of pushing what they want or what might be easier for them, they give you what you want and ask for so that you will be satisfied with the end result. Another plus is that he has worked on all parts of town, including the north shore of Milwaukee where you see a lot of remodeling projects. I have to say that the quality of the work done was consistent with projects done in the most expensive parts of town (north shore/Lake Drive), but the cost was fair and reasonable. Bottom line, a great value for the service and quality craftsmanship provided. Very easy to work with, professional and caring.

 + -1 moreMr. Nehmey came out for an initial project assessment and spent 1 to 2 hours with us determining the scope. He said he would put it all together into a general quotation and come back to us with the information four weeks after his visit. After not hearing from him at all for six weeks, we contacted him ourselves. He said he misplaced the paperwork in another customer's file. We set up an appointment on a Saturday for him to come to our house to go over his findings. He never showed up. We tried calling his office several times, always got his answering machine, and received absolutely no return call. We agreed to wait another week or two before reporting him on Angie's List and to the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)--Milwaukee Chapter. We never received any callback whatsoever. Do not use this contractor. A simple "We have decided not to pursue this project" message would have been the expected professional response.
Description of Work: We requested quotes on remodeling two bathrooms in our house.
