The framing went very quickly. The tile floor had to be pulled up after his first attempt because the spacing between the tiles were off. We attempted to contact him as soon as we got home that day (4:30PM) when we noticed the tiles were off. He did not answer our phone calls, and did not respond to the email until the next day. Luckily, the following day, he was able to pull the tile up without cracking it, and the second try was more to our satisfaction. The dry wallers that he sub contracted were not very good. They took over two weeks to finish a room that is 9x6. We tried to reach Aaron about our various concernes with thier work and again had to wait for a response. Our hardwood floors were covered in drywall compound, and Aaron had to replace an exposed vent that they had crushed. Once the drywallers were done, my wife and I were left to clean up their mess and I had to further sand down some areas on the wall they had missed. He said that it was the first time that he had used them, and he would not be using them again. Our 4 week project was now pushed back an additional 3 weeks. After the vanity was put in place, we noticed a 1/2" gap between the left side of the backsplash and the wall. When I used a square to see where the problem was, it was apparent that the wall behind the vanity was not perpendicular to the adjoining walls. We could also see that the recessed medicine cabinet was reflecting at an off angle. We decided to contact Aaron to see how the problem could be resolved. He said he had some free time in a few weeks to take a look at it. He told us that he would remove the backsplash and side splashes and take down the drywall from behind the vanity. Once that was done, we would shim the new drywall to square everything off. Aaron came in and started the repair a couple of weeks after we contacted him about the issues. We asked him to talk to us before he left for the day so that we could test fit the medicine cabinet to see if it would still be off. He left without saying anything to us. We tried to call him as he was driving away, but he did not answer. We left a voicemail...no call back that night. We sent an email explaining our concerns with the new wall. This was the email exchange that followed: Sent: Thu, October 21, 2010 6:24:11 AM Subject Sorry for the miscommunication. I was of the understanding that you just needed me to cut out the mirror. I had talked to William about coming back today. I needed to get my son to drum lessons. Dizziness when looking into a mirror is caused by a low quality mirror. I will be at your place at 1:00. I cannot say 100 % that the drywall compound will be dry by 1:00 and that I will finish today. You cannot do any of the finish work until we address whether the medicine cabinet (and light) will lie at the same angle of the vanity. It's the fact that the left side of the medicine cabinet was set deeper back than the right side that was causing everything to look lopsided and crooked. I will leave it up to you whether you want to still come today or not. Please let me know you received this email. If I don't hear from you by eleven I'll give you a call instead. [email protected] Sent: Thu, October 21, 2010 10:33:31 AM Subject: RE: XXXXXX that logic is simply not true. I want to make you happy however; 1) A person does not look at the vanity top and the mirror at the same time. 2) Your eyes are about 4 ? apart. You are saying that when you look into a mirror your eyes and the mirror must 100% square to the mirror, or you will get dizzy. This means as you approach a mirror your head and eyes are perfectly square to the mirror. This is of course impossible because we are not robots. 3) In construction tolerances are not exact. A back splash has two purposes. It serves as a guard to the wall when wiping or splashing water and it also serves to cover gaps in the construction. The construction tolerances are within the realm of standard construction practices. 4) If you do some basic research you will find that ?cheep? mirrors do cause Virgo or Dizziness. A good quality mirror has thick glass. The glass on your mirror is very thin. No matter where the mirror is when you look at the glass background reflection looks warped. Please do some research before you discount my logic. Again I want to help you and make you happy however your theory is simply not true. I am not coming back until we can come to some reasonable understanding and agreement to this situation. Aaron ***************************************************** Sent: Thursday, October 21, 2010 11:11 AM Subject: RE: Aaron, XXXXXX and I were concerned that the wall was/is not square, and this is the reason that the mirror, although flush to the wall, was not reflecting at the proper angle. Your condescending response to this inquiry is, quite frankly, insulting. Thank you for your time yesterday, but your services will no longer be required. Your lack of communication with us throughout the remodel, and your inability to adequately reply to our concerns is our primary reason for this. I do hope that your communication skills improve for your future client's sake. Please also note that "cheep" is correctly spelled "cheap", and "vertigo" is is a feeling that you are dizzily turning around or that things are dizzily turning about you, "Virgo" is an astrological sign. Do you have any quantitative fact for your theory. I did some basic investigating and dizziness seems to be an issue with ? cheep? mirrors. Take some time to look into it. Please take your dismissal like an adult. Further communication on this matter is not needed.
