Well it’s that time of year to start looking for someone to put on a new roof. That’s why I waited until now to share my experience with ARC contracting. I contacted ARC about getting my roof shingled. After meeting with salesman Brian Martian, who seemed like a nice guy and had my best interest at heart, everything sounded like I made the right choice for ARC contracting to replace my roof, but I was wrong. My roof was initially done in March 21 of 2018. It is wasn’t until October of 2018 that my roof was finally completed, due to mistakes related to the initial installation. Long reviews can lose a person’s interest quickly, but I encourage you to finish reading this review to get a full understanding of my experience with ARC. I have done some roofing in the past, but because of the complexity of different pitches and valleys on my house I decided to have my roof done by professionals. After talking to Brian I thought ARC was the answer, but how wrong I was. I received quotes from different companies, but all included the roofing to be subcontracted. When talking to Brian he insured me that ARC did their own Roofing, which wasn't the case. I was also told that a certified GAF ARC lead would be on site during construction, which also wasn’t the case. Most of the crew that was subcontracted to do my roofing did not speak English, so communication was limited. The lead, which was not ARC employed, did somewhat speak English but he did not seem to be ensuring quality work, only more focused on getting the job done. At one point I stopped the roofing crew from roofing until an ARC rep was on site because they were laying down underlayment before the decking was all cleared of nails and debris. When the ARC rep. arrived I explained my concern and went on the roof and identified nails sticking up from the decking. The rep stayed there until the decking was cleared correctly and then left. When the roof was completed it was horrible! Tar splashed all over the fascia, uneven shingles, roof venting not centered, wavy drip edging, uneven shingle cuts on the edge of the roof, shingles not laying down correctly and damages siding and gutters. On top of that, when the crew thought they were done I had to ask them to go around the house again to pick up nails and garbage that they ignored. ARC was not going to get paid until the corrections were completed. I did get some initial pushback, but Wyatt, ARC manager, came and looked at roof and he agreed corrections needed to be made. ARC employee Jason Reimer did the corrections. Other than taking to October to get the corrections completed (which may have been out of his control) he did a good job on making things right. Jason’s work is the only good thing I can say about ARC. I hope you’re sticking with me because this nightmare isn’t over. If you use GAF shingles here is different packages you can choose from. There is the Shingle and Accessory, System Plus and the Golden Pledge which is the best package GAF offers and the package I got. When all the work was done and ARC was paid they sent the warranty information to GAF. When I got the warranty paperwork from GAF the warranty sent to me was for Systems Plus and not Golden Pledge, which is what I paid for. So now I’m spending additional time talking to ARC to get the correct information to GAF so I get the right warranty. Brain Martian also told me that when the work was done a GAF rep. would come out to my house and certify that the work that was done met GAF Golden Pledge standards, which was also a lie. I got the inspection done, but I had to request it myself and have a valid reason for the request. Taking almost a year to finish my roof validated the inspection and on November 15th, 2018 (7 months) my roof was GAF certified. Think twice before having ARC do your roofing project and if you do go with them make sure the details are in writing. Also do your own homework to make sure your asking the right questions of whoever you’re having do your roof. Good Luck!
