1. Nails per shingle will be 6. I was home on day 1 and listened to the roofers work. The person on the East Side was putting in only 5. Those on the West end varied between 4 and 5. I am not sure how much that matters but the expectation was set at 6. I will be reviewing this with the inspector for PNC.
2. Shingles and nails will be picked up, usually hourly. The place was a disaster. During day 1, nobody was walking around picking up anything. Even at the end of day 1, not everything was picked up.
3. Everything will be covered while roofing and shingles will be taken down in one or two spots. Shingles were falling from everywhere. Only part of my deck was covered. My pool was not covered and had shingles and asphalt lying on top of my good cover. My good tractor was covered with shingles and nails.
4. Layout of Downspouts ? We had discussions about adding a downspout by the front door. Apparently there was a misunderstanding that I was supposed to call Phil back about the addition. In any case I had a real concern on getting the gutters sloped better to get the water away from that transition. If I had not stopped at home that day and run into the installers, they would have never known about my concern. We also had to piece in one downspout because of access issues.
5. Communication ? We had no idea when anything was going to happen. We would get an email that we were scheduled for a date and then that date would come and nobody would show up and no email saying ARC would not be there. Then a few days or weeks later you get another email. It really became a standing joke in our house when the next email would come and how wrong it would be.
1. Fireplace Vent Cover Installed ? I
have asked at least 5 times where the cover is at. Here I sit on 6/27 with no cover yet.
Other Issues
1. OSHA Inspection ? I am not at home
and my wife is on the phone freaking out with the inspector at the front door.
2. Nails ? The nails never did get
picked up. Even after the past meeting
with Phil when we showed him the bucket the kids picked up off the driveway and
front porch area; he promised to come and pick them up himself. We have picked up the nails best we
could. We have had one flat tire on my
wife?s car so far.
3. Siding ? The wrong color siding was
ordered initially. When the siding
finally arrived, 4 different colors of siding were delivered to my yard.
4. Siding ? After the siding finally got
done, a piece of siding fell off the house and was lying on the ground. I have never heard of siding just falling off
your house after installation. I will be
bringing in another company to do an inspection on this work.
5. Air Conditioner ? Our air conditioner
would not power up and run this summer.
After spending hours tracking the signal and power out to the unit itself,
I found that they removed the connection bar on the 208V box outside when they installed
the siding. In addition, they broke the
co-flex going to the unit so they tried to tape it back together and then cover
it with a piece of siding so nobody would see it. The most unprofessional thing I have ever
seen!!! The also cracked the shield on
the primary line coming from the house to the unit distribution box.
The roofing crew and materials arrived as promised. The roofing crew did an awesome job and the shingles looks great as well as the "no seam" gutter that was replaced as well. Upon completion the roofing crew walked around the house twice and picked up any debris and nails that hit the ground. Ryan, contacted the insurance company upon completion of the job and handled all the paperwork required from the insurance company. "AWESOME JOB" IF YOU NEED A COMPANY FOR ROOFING CALL THESE GUYS
