Charlie's Plumbing

After moving into my condo, I needed the washer/dryer hooked up. I called the number in the yellow pages, and someone answered "hello," and did not identify themselves as a business.  The plumber called to say he could come by at 5, and the service call would be $39. Granted, the plumber showed up on time, at 5 pm. All the parts were available to him for washer/dryer hookup, yet he charged me $79 labor for EACH appliance (this task required 15 minutes of his time).  He told me the rubber hoses (brand new) would rupture, and I needed braided stainless steel--another $50. For the toilet, I know that the water hose to the toilet cost $3 and the Fluidmaster 400 Valve sells retail for $12.  I was charged $95.  I argued about the prices--saying they were outrageous, and he said "it's the price."  I'm on a budget and NEVER expected to have to pay $342 for such minor plumbing work.  A total ripoff.
