SHOREWOOD AUTO REPAIR

I have been taking my car to Shorewood Auto Repair for several years. I explicitly trust the quality and skills of the people working on my car. They are efficient, reasonable and and fair- they don't add on unnecessary repairs. The owner explains what needs to be worked on so you can understand the process. I was very pleased with the outcome of this repair! I will continue to use Shorewood Auto Repair to maintain the safety of my car.

Went well. good neighborhood car repair shop. keith and other nice, responsive and professional. no issues. not cheapest but not too $$$. closeby for me and I have confidence in their work.

I have used Shorewood Auto Repair two other times for oil changes and each time I went there I had a nagging suspicion that they never did the requested work as my car seemed to always sit in the same spot in the lot and never moved (I drove by several times to check). When I went in this time, I marked the front passenger tire as I had asked for a rotation. When the work was completed I paid and then went out to check the tires. As I suspected, they never rotated the tire as the marked tire was in the same exact location. I went back in and asked about it and the owner came out to take a look. He also asked the technician to come out and both told me that the tires had been rotated. The owner then tried to explain to me how he knew they had because of the feathering of the tires. I then showed them the mark on the tire. They were essentially caught in their lie. The only positive is that the owner refunded my money but I question whether they have ever done the work in the past so buyer beware.

They repaired both and returned the car quickly.

I should put them on Angie's List because they're really good. Usually when we take the car in and they say it's fixed, we bring it back up and it's fixed. That is always a plus. They're pleasant, they're clean. I also like them because they're only about two and a half blocks away. They also had one of our old cars in the shop for two weeks recently and were unable to find anything wrong so they charged us nothing. As for the price, they' pretty much like everybody else for repair. When they say it's gonna be done, it's done. For sure, I will use them again in the future. They're always willing to take care of our old cars. They've been doing a lot of work for us and it's all been good.

I can't say enough about Keith and the crew at Shorewood Auto ... this was our third (and thankfully final) attempt to resolve an over-heating problem in our daughter's 2008 PT Cruiser. Two other local shops couldn't even replicate the problem much less fix it. Keith was a very diligent diagnostician, and even though the car needed to be seen twice for a complete fix, we are thrilled they could take care of the problem. We will be bringing all of our work to Shorewood Auto from now on.

My check engine light and and quot;your engine is hotand quot; light both came on at the same time. I am new to the area and didn't have a mechanic. I checked Angie's list on my phone after pulling over, and found that Shorewood Auto was highly rated and within walking distance of my house. They were not able to get to my car the day I brought it in because they were fully booked, but they fixed it first thing in the morning. What I really liked is that the mechanic drove it around, including on the highway, to make sure that the hose wasn't going to pop off again. It has given me no problems since.

My window would not go up, and they were able to house my car indoors on short notice (it was going to rain that night), and get the window fixed the next day. Price was identical to a similar repair at a dealership - I was hoping it might be a little cheaper than the dealership, but it was certainly fair, given the parts and labor required.
I would use them again, I felt I received a fair deal. No upselling, no surprises.

We like everything about them. We have not had any bad experiences with them. They are just really fair and honest. The payment depends on what is being done; we take it in for something as simple as an oil change and tire rotation and everything to needing five things done. We think the pricing is very fair.

It was a good experience. I dropped off the car in the morning and they called me with an estimate within 1-2 hours. I gave them the go-ahead to do the work and it was completed by early afternoon.

Perfect. We have been using them for many years and have also had postive experiences.

They are inexpensive and they get the work done and do a nice job.

It took several days to acquire parts, but otherwise went well. Overall cost was just more than half the estimate of former Saturn dealer where car was purchased. Shop did a good job of communicating status and expected completion during the time the car was in the shop.

I find them to be competent, relatively honest and so forth. They are a lot closer to home. I would recommend them. I spend more time calling them - we talk more often when I call them rather than when they call me. I would use them again in the future if necessary.

We were referred by someone else. They have always been extremely professional and accurate in estimates. They were prompt in getting the work done and the work was always high quality. I would continue to use them in future.

They are great and do a good job. They are pretty thorough and I don't have any complaints.

I would have liked better communication. They did not call to discuss charges for service as I had requested. Then I had to call them when I heard nothing after the first day and again after another day to get an update. Also, communication within the shop wasn't good - the car was in for starting problem and Keith made a point of telling me they had no difficulty starting car while it was there, yet a note on the invoice said the battery was jumped twice. ?? The battery had just tested fine at dealership and worked well prior to, and since then. The starting problem was not a battery issue. Overall they seemed sincere in trying to diagnose the problem and I appreciate their efforts trying to locate a part they were having difficulty finding. I decided to wait to replace anything since the car was starting and see if the part became easier to find. When I called the dealership, they told me it is readily available. That was another strange inconsistency. If it gives me trouble again I am more comfortable with dealership, even if the cost is a little higher.

Backing into my garage I misjudged the distance on the right side and accelerated backing in. The mirror shattered and the casing was hanging by wires. I called Shorewood Auto and Keith quoted me a price a bit over $200 to install a new mirror, but he said he'd make some calls and see if he could get a used mirror for less. We made an appointment for two days later, but he suggested I stop by that day on my way to work so he could cut the wires and remove the casing, so it didn't bump around and scratch the paint. The work was done in less than the 2-3 hours estimated and the price was about $25 less than the estimate because he had located a used mirror. Plus they changed a rear tail-light bulb that was burned out. I originally started using this company because of Angie's List and I have never been disappointed. The owner and staff are consistently friendly and professional, and services are reasonably-priced.
