Sazama Design Build Remodel

The project started a few weeks late on account of the holidays (and that's understandable). They would nickle and dime, $135 for a trip to place a hardware (screws were missing from the box so had to return a second time). $1500 to put new trim on 5 doors (only one side for each door except for one that required both sides) and then when they painted the trim they refused to paint the jamb as it was not listed in the contract! Then there were costs added to my contract that I never approved. After paying them thousands they kept sending me bills to recover that $600 that I never approved. I will pay them to get these guys off my back I hope it was worth it to them.
Beware of these guys, complete rip off. Will not use them again for anything.

We were looking for contractor to do our big remodelling kitchen project. We used Sazama before, and knew they were exceptional quality, but also rather pricey. They actually were the first who we asked for estimate. But what they offered in the beginning exceeded our estimate considerably. So we decided to look for somebody less pricey. We got estimates from two other contractors, and got no answer from one more contractor, who looked very reliable in the beginning, but actually put us down pretty much, getting us envolved with the architect, who appeared to be the same unreliable as the contractor himself. At the same time Sazama didn't quit on us, though we probably weren't very easy customers :) One of their architects Karl Holtermann made all of supposed subcontractors come to our house and make their estimate of the jobs they were supposed to make, so Karl finally gave us another estimate, which was much better then the first ones (they actually offered us three different "floor plans" right in the beginning, which was really nice and helpful). One of the other contractors we got estimates from, the one we liked the best after Sazama, actually had the same estimate as the last from Sazama. So we decided we would go with Sazama. And I'm so happy now we did! Our first project they did for us, went really well, but that was not so complicated as doing the kitchen. When you are doing the kitchen, especially with addition built, - so much is invovled! You need to be able to trust your contractor. Otherwise you might end up with huge problems, and it will cost you even more money to correct the mistakes, if they were made. I can't thank enough the architect Karl Holtermann, the project manager Carlos Dodger, the carpenters Tony and Tee. Of course their were momets when there were problems all the sudden, or unexpected things were happening, but the approach Sazama had in solving the problems - was very good. They always would do their best.

I cannot say enough positive things about Sazama. First of all, the quality and professionalism of the company is truly a cut above. We are so pleased with the work they did, and their ability to listen to what you need and to help create a vision/solution better than you probably could have envisioned on your own. In addition, they are incredibly adept at making suggestions that make a difference based on the design of your house. For instance, they didn't just spot patch the floor, they made sure that the floor spaces surrounding it were sanded and finished for an even look. They had the walls painted to a natural stopping place, as well as the ceilings. They made sure that the plumbing was insulated properly and that if they had to make amendments to structural design due to the house that they overcompensated. In short, they paid attention to all the details that you either (1) don't know as a homeowner, or (2) that would otherwise "bug" you later. For future work, they are definitely our go to company.

They were great. They were great to work with. I liked their architecture. They were very thorough and stayed within the budget.

From the minute that Mr. Sazama walked in the door, I knew I was in competent hands. We were referred to Sazama by a friend who is an engineer and who also had damage from ice storms and who is very picky. My husband is a health care professional and is also very picky and precise about repair work as well. Each and every member of the Sazama crew has been attentive to our family's needs and makes sure that we know what the next step of the process is going to be. The care taken in the prepping of the rooms to be fixed was phenomenal. My house was cleaner than before the work started! Great care and pride is evident in all the work that is being done. There are several project managers who routinely stop by to check to see how things are going and to advise me what what happen next and when. They adhere to their schedule and have bent over backwards to accommodate a few special requests I have made. You need to look no further for a top notch remodeler who will fix or remodel any aspect of your house or office. I am thrilled to be able to refer my friends and co workers to such a fine company.... I am thrilled to see that some people still take pride in what they do and want to do it well and that client satisfaction is of utmost importance to Sazama.

The entire staff at Sazama was extremely helpful, polite, and professional. We had a small but tricky job, which three carpenters previously turned down. Sazama fit our job in-between a couple of big ones and got the work done in a timely fashion. Carlos was extremely helpful and patient in explaining how the work would be done and the potential complications. The men who performed the work did an excellent job and were respectful of our space. The workspace was cleaned up every day. Although their bid was substantially higher than the others, I was confident that Sazama would do the job right the first time, and do it well. They came through - and under their estimate! I'd definitely use Sazama again.

REMODELING YOUR KITCHEN IS AN INVOLVED PROJECT BUT I ENJOYED THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE AND THE FINAL RESULTS WERE OUTSTANDING. I LOVE MY NEW KITCHEN! IN THE PLANNING STAGES I WORKED WITH MIKE AND HE WAS ALWAYS RESPONSIVE TO ANY QUESTIONS I HAD. ONCE THE WORK STARTED, CARLOS WAS MY CONTACT AND HE ALSO DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. I DIDN'T MEET ALL OF THEIR SUBCONTRACTORS BUT THE ONE'S I DID MEET WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. SAZAMA'S DEALERS (CABINETS, PLUMBING FIXTURES, ETS.) WERE ALSO VERY HELPFUL. I'M NOT SURE WHAT ELSE TO ADD HERE. THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH MAJOR REMODELING AND EVERYTHING TURNED OUT GREAT. I WOULDN'T HESITATE TO HAVE SAZAMA DO ANOTHER PROJECT FOR ME AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

WE HAD TWO BIDS FOR THE JOBS, BASED ON ARCHITECT'S DRAWINGS AND SPECS. BOTH BIDS WERE NEARLY THE SAME, BUT DON WAS ABLE TO MEET OUR TIME REQUIREMENTS BETTER. FOR A LARGE JOB WITH MANY POTENTIAL PITFALLS, I DOUBT WE COULD HAVE HAD A BETTER RESULT. THE WORK WAS EXCELLENT, AND THE PROCESS WAS VERY CONSIDERATE AND THOUGHTFUL. WE LIKED THE JOB AND THE PEOPLE SO MUCH THAT WE GAVE THE CREW A PARTY AFTER THE JOB WAS COMPLETE. SUBSEQUENTLY, WE HAVE USED THEM FOR OTHER SMALLER JOBS, LIKE INSTALLING A PORCH RAILING OR REPAIRING EXTERIOR TRIM PRIOR TO PAINTING. IN THESE CASES, RESULTS WERE EQUALLY EXCELLENT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
