Tom is very honest and reliable. 

He used Bosch parts and did not try to up sale me for other repairs.

Car was ready as promised.

I will use his for future repairs as he is very trust worthy unlike many of the auto dealers.

I had my lawnmower for 16 years. It was still running great, but all the years of vibrations caused the wheel to fall off. My neighbor fixed it, but another year the hole where the bolt goes got so large that no bolt would stay in anymore. I needed it to be welded to somehow make the hole smaller.
I had heard about this shop working on lawnmower, snowblowers, etc in addition to cars. So I brought the lawnmower in. We talked about it for awhile; he told me that he could weld it but it would be a week or so since he had a backlog. He also quoted me a ballpark price. He told me I could have one of the already-repaired/refurbished mowers that was exactly like this one for the same price and take it home the same day. Otherwise I could wait for him to fix mine. My grass was already a foot long so I opted to buy the refurbished one. Pretty much the same as my other one, just about an inch narrower cutting path, which wasn't that big of a deal. A newly sharpened blade and new starter coil.
Got it home, started up and ran perfectly. Got interrupted and went back to finish. Noticed that the cord had not recoiled back into the case so I could not start it up again.
Took it back to the shop the next day; told him I had just bought it because he told me that he had just replaced the starting coil, etc. Now it isn't working. He said normally that they are 'as is', but since he remembered telling me that he had just fixed that he was willing to fix it again. I left it there and came back in another day and it has worked perfectly since.
This is not a beautiful shop; it is in an old gas station that is cosmetically ugly, but he does good work.

They are incredible. I feel like it is such a gift to be so close to a great service station. They are very reasonably priced and very accommodating. I feel very confident in them, and I am grateful to have found such a trustworthy service station. This is my 3rd time taking my car there and every time has been excellent.

Tom fixed my small lawn mower and has kept my large commercial mowers going too. He is in the neighborhood where I do a lot of my work so it's good to know he is close by in case anything goes wrong.

I have used north point twice once to repair a snowblower that had been stores through summer and failed to start and to check lawnmower prior to summer season. Both times they picked up the equipment repaired it an dreturned it to the house in good working order. The cost including the pick-up service and repair and maintenance was very reasonable

I asked them to fix a specific problem on my Snow Blower. The Snow Blower is electric start and the cord that raps around the starter is slipping and failing to start the machine. I wanted them to fix the problem or order a new part to replace the faulty one; they did neither. What they did do is service the machine, (change oil, new spark plugs ect...) and charged me over $100.00. Something I could of done myself for around $15.00. I will need to look for another service shop.

My first experience with Northpoint Service was when my car broke down kitty-corner to the station. My clutch would not engage. I walked over to station and met Tom. I told him since my car (Jetta) had high miles, I figured it needed a complete clutch repair ($600+). He said that he would diagnose and give me a call, I said just fix it. 2 Hours later I got Toms call, he said the car was fixed, I said what?!?!. He said all it needed was a clutch cable ($35). I basically gave him a blank check for a complete clutch, this man is honest as the day is long. Now Tom does all our car repairs, and perfectly.

He was punctual and responsive. He did a very good job and fixed my lawn mower quickly. He said that the bad quality of gasoline was the cause for the problem. His pricing was reasonable.

I have had an ongoing problem with my car for the last 2+ years that the dealer has not been able to find/fix, and I thought this was just a more serious iteration. The car wouldn't start and we were going to have it towed to Northpoint, which is nearby. Then, it finally started but died within blocks of our house. I finally got it started and limped over to Northpoint. Tom listened carefully to my description of the problem and the car's history. He assured me that he wouldn't take it on if he thought it would need to go to the dealer and offered to see if he could find the problem. (In so doing at one point the car stalled and stranded HIM away from the shop; his employee Bob had to close the garage briefly to go get him!) After working on the elusive problem for some time, Tom said he'd have to begin charging for his time; we agreed on a limit, and he said he'd call before exceeding that in the investigational stage. They had the car for about 6 business days but every afternoon Tom called to let me know the status. When Tom and Bob ultimately discovered that the problem was a critical broken wire, they replaced it (unfortunately, it required taking apart much of the front end of the car to get to it). When Tom called to let me know the car was ready, he offered to give me a ride to the shop to pick up the car (it was a nice day and I needed the exercise, so I declined). Tom also credited Bob and spoke very positively about his work on the car, which is all too uncommon in this world. Tom feels that this repair may solve the repeated problems I have been experiencing over the past 2 to 3 years, which the dealer had said were due to the emissions system -- the opposite end of the car. I have lost count of the number of times I had had the car at the dealer's for this, and I repeatedly told them I didn't want the car back until it was fixed. The dealer didn't honor that request, but Tom did! I will be very relieved if Tom has found the source of all my grief. Time will tell, but so far, so good!

I asked for the repair that was done as well as having the blade sharpened and the engine tuned up. He said the blade was still sharp and that my very old push power mower wasn't worth the cost of a tune up. He initially said it would be 7-10 days but ended up being 5 days.

My car broke down in their area. They sounded good on the phone, and I had it towed there. They made minimal repairs and spoke to me at length about their diagnosis, the condition of the car, the questionable value of spending much money on such an old car, the unscrupulousness of some auto mechanics, and the feasibility of switching to another mechanic. I got the sense that their regular customers get good care, and I learned a lot about cars. When I later took it to my usual mechanic, he corroborated the diagnosis about what was broken and made the repairs Northpoint prescribed.

The job was promised inside a week and was done in several days. I forgot to ask if there was a discount for Angie's List. Very friendly. Only daytime, work-week hours made drop off and pick-up difficult. They double checked with me as to whether I wanted to put money into tuning up a mower that is 10+ years old.

GOOD EXPERIENCE. DROPPED OFF MOWER MID-APRIL AND WORK WAS COMPLETED WITHIN A WEEK. THE BILL WAS SLIGHTLY HIGHER THAN QUOTED BECAUSE OF THE EXTRA WORK TO CLEAN THE EXHAUST PORTS ($18.50 EXTRA), WHICH I WAS INFORMED OF WHEN I PICKED UP THE MOWER. WOULD GO TO THEM AGAIN IN THE FUTURE.

TOM ESTIMATED A 10-DAY TURNAROUND ON THIS, DUE TO BACKLOG. HE SURPRISED ME BY CALLING THE NEXT DAY TO SAY OUR LAWN MOWER WAS READY. WHEN I INQUIRED, HE SAID HE HATED TO HAVE SO MUCH WORK BACKED UP, SO HE "TRIAGED" AND GOT AS MANY MOWERS DONE ASAP. HE'S THAT KIND OF INDUSTRIOUS GUY. IN ADDITION TO DOING THE MAINTENANCE, HE ALWAYS WASHES THE MOWER OFF, TOO, WHICH IS ANOTHER WAY HE GOES THE EXTRA MILE. AS I RECALL, THE DEALER FROM WHOM WE BOUGHT THE MOWER WAS LESS EXPENSIVE FOR MAINTENANCE (WE WERE GIVEN A LIFETIME DISCOUNT COUPON UPON PURCHASE), BUT THE BLADE WAS NEVER SHARPENED AS WELL, AND THE MOWER SEEMED TO CONSUME MORE FUEL THAN IT DOES NOW.

WHILE WORKING ON THE TIRES, THEY NOTICED ANOTHER MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT WE DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT. (WE INVESTIGATED MORE THOROUGHLY AND ASSURED OURSELVES THAT INDEED THIS PROBLEM DID EXIST -- IT WAS NOT AN ATTEMPT TO 'DRUM UP BUSINESS.') PROMISED LAWN MOWER THAT WEEK, BUT ACTUALLY GOT IT DONE THAT DAY, AT THE BUSY START OF MOWING SEASON! PRICES MAY BE A LITTLE HIGHER THAN WE USED TO PAY, BUT MOWER DOESN'T SEEM TO BURN AS MUCH GAS, SEEMS BETTER MAINTAINED BY NORTHPOINT. THIS TIME (THIRD YEAR WE'VE USED THEM) THERE WAS A SMALL OIL LEAK AFTER THE SERVICE, BUT WE BROUGHT IT BACK, AND THEY REPAIRED AT NO CHARGE AND WERE VERY APOLOGETIC FOR NOT CATCHING THE PROBLEM THE FIRST TIME. TOM ALSO IS VERY HELPFUL, EXPLAINING HOW TO REDUCE WEAR AND MAINTENANCE, HOW THINGS WORK, ETC., WHEN ASKED.
