I spoke with Chris and he came out the next day for an estimate. His estimate was by far the least expensive of the other 2 estimates I got and included all paint. Chris said he would start on Monday and finish on Thursday. He finished early - Wednesday afternoon. The paint looks amazing! Everything looks nice and even, the edges are nice and neat. The closets look great, too! He even needed to paint the ceilings in the closets. That must have been a task and a half. He really went above and beyond. While he was there, he noticed some nails sticking pokey-side out of my basement stairwell. Knowing I have kids, he took the nails out so the kids wouldn't get hurt. It's that kind of thoughtfulness and professionalism that would make me hire Newstar again and refer him to all my friends!

Mr. Upham was prompt and kept to the schedule we planned on - all of this work was done in just 2 1/2 weeks. He and his employee were here every morning on time and left every day having cleaned up afterward and never stayed past a certain time to insure our family time/dinner was not disrupted. He was always polite. His work was excellent - his ability to paint straight edges along the "bullnose" corners was great, as well as the straight edges by our tray ceilings. He wanted always to make sure we were happy with the work that was done - and we were!

Chris, the painter, did excellent work. He was always on time, very considerate and careful to clean up everything. Pleasant to have around as well. Work was fairly priced. We would recommend him very highly.

When Chris came to my house to give me the estimate for this job, I pointed out the indentation from the prior cabinet knob and also pointed out some of the uneven areas on the cabinets, etc. I asked if those could be sanded down and eliminated. He said they could be, that he would repaint everything with an oil-based paint, and that the cabinets would look "just like they were brand new". When he finished painting, the marks and blemishes all still remained. He then told me they would have to be stripped in order to get rid of them and that would be very costly which I could not afford to do - a completely different story from what he told me before he took the job. He also told me he would be spray painting the cabinet doors which is what I wanted as I understood it would give a smoother, cleaner finish. He did paint them but they were not sprayed as the brush strokes are clearly evident. In addition, the glass in the two top center doors are spattered with paint. Overall, this was an extremely poor job and certainly not worth anywhere near the $400 I was charged.

Found Newstar Painting, Inc. by using a search of BBB companies. I contacted him for an estimate. After going over all the details with Chris we agreed on an adjusted price. Old painted surfaces were scraped and sanded (hand and power) and spot primed. Chris also agreed to replace 4 windows in my overhead garage door with solid wood. There were a few rain delays, but the job was done timely. Chris also made some professional suggestions on painting the trim and was "right-on" in choosing a perfect color match. He was professional at all times, and I felt he was someone I could trust at my home when I wasn't there. He was neat and always picked up after himself after each visit.
