Perfect. Called to move up appt as they had a cancellation. They were prompt, cleaned up my whole yard and removed all debris.

He did a great job, trimming and shaping trees, cutting off dead limbs, chipping and cutting branches.

They have been coming for about 4 years, i am really happy with them. He comes every end of August, once a year. He does a good job and a clean. He wasn't expensive then so i stuck with him.

I hired Michael Hoppe to cut down a large tree in front of my house. I got 3 proposals from 3 tree services listed on Angie’s List.  The Hoppe proposal of $700.00 was the middle number. When the job was done, I was handed a bill for over $1,040.00. I was surprised at the higher amount, and asked Michael Hoppe why the bill was so much higher than the original figure. I was told that the original $700.00 figure was just an ‘estimate’. (He did not even haul away the wood!)

Michael arrived as scheduled by phone call the day before and checked with me to see what I wanted him to do. He pruned a very dense maple tree and cleaned up the place when he was done. He worked closely with me to make sure that I was satisfied with the pruning as he went along. There were quite a few branches that I wanted him to cut off. When he finished, he cleaned up the area and left me some firewood that he had cut into small logs for me. 
I've hired Michael in the past and have always been satisfied with the work he does and his prices. He arrives on time, does the job, cleans up and leaves and his prices are reasonable.

Michael came over as we agreed and looked at the job. He gave me a time estimate on when he could return to do the work and also a financial estimate of the cost of the job.
He and his assistant came on the day he said, they completed the work as agreed and cleaned up everything afterwards. I paid the estimated cost and was well-satisfied with the whole transaction. 
I recommend him to my friends and family and will schedule him again anytime I need help with the trees on my property.

He did a great job. He wood chipped everything and I've used the chips for things ever since.

I had called Michael after two other tree service companies had quoted the job and came back with very different estimates and solutions.  Hoppe was the tie breaker, least expensive and most straight forward of the group.  The only drawback was the time I had to wait before he could perform the work, but he was upfront about the delay and i agreed to the roughly 5 week wait.  Michael called about 4 weeks later to set up the appointment.  He and his son arrived on time and reviewed the job with my wife, but there was some confusion over the scope of work.  A phone call cleared up the confusion.  Very happy with Hoppe's service and would not hesitate to use again. 

Michael was very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. His estimate was much lower ($125) than the actual cost ($400), but he spent more time cutting out the buckthorn roots and found a branch that was about to fall onto the house. So even though we spent more money, it was well worth the services that we received. If we are still living in Milwaukee when we need tree services again, we will definitely call Michael.

Michael responded quickly and gave an estimate. It was a small job, and he even gave some advice on how I might get it done more cheaply. I did use him for the work, and he completed the work quickly and thouroughly. Would use his services again without reservation.

Michael Hoppe came and trimmed tree limbs that were near the electrical and cable lines running to the house.  He did an excellent job of clearing the tree limbs from the wires running to the house.  He brought a wood chipper and chipped what he had cut off, leaving us a pile of wood chips which we used as mulch.  I have used him before and would again.

It was perfect, they are great.

My project with this company went extremely well. I am working on a renovation project with a foreclosed duplex I bought on the Eastside of Milwaukee. The trees that August and his team removed never should have been planted so close to utility lines much less the house. They did an excellent job safely removing the overgrown, problem trees while also doing some trimming of two other trees so they would continue to grow in a healthy manner. What I am very grateful about was that August was able to do this work in the middle of winter. I can not rent out my duplex until all these long neglected projects are completed and August was a huge help to me in this regard. He really knows a lot about trees too; which ones are worth saving and which ones are not. He is the best!

We are completely satisfied with this company.

Had three quotes.  Hoppe was most thorough and informative.  Price was competitive.   Quotes varied based on views of what "needed to be done."  Hoppe's view was more aggressive -- but the results are exactly what we were looking for.
Excellent job.  All done in a little over half a day.
Willing to adjust pruning to "our view" of close to house :)  Open to suggestions.  They made excellent suggestions - also.
Came with four workers - lots of trucks/grinders/light bucket-crane to reach tree tops/tracked bobcat to carry branches from back to
grinder trucks in front.
Teamwork everywhere.  Fast.  Efficient.
Bear in mind that this was winter -- 02-15-2012 and everthing but the trees looked untouched.
(I opted for winter work to get the 5% discount --- don't know how they would have done it in the snow !)

They were prompt and they did a good job. I didn’t interact with them too much.  I appreciated that they called me back right away when I left a message for them.  They came out the same day to take care of the problem and I appreciated their promptness. I didn’t price shop for it but it was a little higher than what I was expecting. 

August Hoppe came out and gave me an estimate. He also declined to do some tree trimming that he said would not be beneficial.  A few weeks later the crew came, climbed the tree (no room for equipment in my yard), cut off all the excess growth, and cleaned up the mess.

They trimmed a pussy willow tree that was between my house and a neighbors house because it was starting to make contact with the houses.  They also trimmed back a birch tree in my back yard.  We read on Angie's List that he was highly recommend and everyone talked about his extensive knowledge of the trees.  That became apparent when he was able to identify the tree in front of my house and the other guys who came in for estimates had no idea what it was, they just called it a decorative tree.  He found there was a vine by the birch tree that was interfering with the growth and he said it was very invasive and growing all over the tree and stunting it's tree.  He said it was very aggressive and it took him an hour or so to get rid of as much of it as he could.  He said when it grows in the summer it would be easily identifiable, I was happy he was able to identify that.  The left the trimmings and I was able to use it as mulch for my flower beds.  I don't think there is anything they need to improve on.

August Hoppe came out promptly following my request for an estimate.  In addition to removing the cherry trees I asked that he take a look at our Weeping Mulberry trees because I was concerned that they might be diseased.  Mr. Hoppe assured me that the trees were healthy.

I received the estimate the same day that he came out, broken down by just removing the trees and the extra cost to have the stumps ground up.  I felt the estimate was well within reason, in fact I had expected that it would be considerably more. 

I was told that they were fairly backed up and it might be a few weeks before they would be able to do the work, but that they would call in advance to let me know when they would be coming.  I received a call about one week in advance and two fellows arrived the day they said they would come.  I was home while the work was being done and was able to watch what all what involved.  They chopped down the trees and fed them through a chipper, then had a special piece of equipment to remove the stumps.  They carefully raked and swept and cleaned up the areas when they were done.

I asked about whether they also put in new trees and was told they do that as well.

I was extremely satisfied and very impressed with the professionalism of this company.  I would highly recommend them!

All went very well. His crew (3 mrmbers of his family) worked quickly and efficiently.

Michael is great. He is an educated arborist who is happy to discuss trees and any questions you may have about your trees. He has an appreciation for nature and trees. We are impressed by his expertise. We had 2 other mature trees that we loved that we thought were dying. Michael told us they merely needed some trimming and feeding and now they are better and stronger than ever.
