Our experience building our home with Kaerek was very enjoyable and we look forward to building our next home with Kaerek. Kaerek has a very strong focus on quality, and there are good support systems in place every step of the way.  Follow up after closing was very good and support a year later for warranty issues was also excellent.

The home that a contractor builds is only as good as it's subcontractors' work.  There are problems with finish carpentry, carpeting, and electrical.  The finish carpentry in the master bath could have been done better by me and when we replaced the entire builder-grade carpeting 5 years after our home purchase, we found razor blades under the carpet pad.  I didn't say anything to Kaerek about the carpentry nor the carpet.  I let the carpentry work go.  I did contact the carpet subcontractor though  he assured me that he didn't own the subcontractor company back when the house was built.  The problem I have now with Kaerek is the response that I got when I called to complain about the electrical work.  My wife wanted to replace the builder-grade light fixtures in April 2013 so we bought new lights.  I called the electrical subcontractor that Kaerek used on my house to get an estimate on the new lighting installation.  The electric company didn't return my phone call to put in a bid for new work.  So if they are not looking for money from new work, it's safe to assume that they will not respond to me complaining about their electrical problem either.  Since I didn't get an estimate from the electrical company, my wife found out how to install light fixtures from the internet and we did it our selves.  The mistakes that lurk behind the walls and ceiling can be a problem.  The electrical box was completely mislabled and none of the light fixtures were grounded.  I'm no electrician but I think not grounding light fixtures is a safety concern.  That's when I called Kaerek to complain about their subcontractor and was dissatisfied with the customer service received.  I spoke with Kaerek's female receptionist/phone operator and I told her that I wanted to make them aware of electrical concerns in their homes.  The receptionist transfered me to Nancy.  I told Nancy that I have a complaint with their subcontractor and the receptionist transfered me to her.  Nancy replied (and I will paraphrase throughout here) "of course she did."  Her statement kind of threw me off and I started to talk about my complaint again.  Nancy said that she "gets complaints all the time."  Again, her comment threw me off and she retracted her statement about "all the time."  She asked me if I called the subcontractor.  I said that my phone call was not returned and that kaerek should still be aware of what the subcontractors are doing.  After all, it is a "Kaerek Home" not a subcontractor home.  Kaerek's name is on the keys to the front door, it's their reputation on the line.  Nancy wanted to transfer me to Mike Kaerek.  I cannot remember what I said but I then told her about the completely mislabeled electrical box and the safety concern about not grounding any of the light fixtures.  Nancy then made a comment of how the home "passed a home inspection."  I said that just because a home passes inspection doesn't make it right to not ground the electrical.  As if it is the home inspector's fault that subcontractors are not doing their job or if nobody gets caught then it must be OK to do it.  Nancy then stated that if might have been a Kaerek employee who "hung the light fixtures" and not the subcontractor.  I said that doesn't make it any better.  in fact, if a direct Kaerek employee didn't ground the electrical, that would make it even worse.  Bottom line is that the contractor is responsible for the subcontractors.  I just wonder how many other homes in this Kaerek neighborhood built in 2005/2006 have safety problems.

We had some issues at closing (the bank suddenly wanted info that they should have asked for much sooner) and they were very patient, even offering me access to computer equipment to get it done. When the bank played around until it was too late to close that day Mike offered to open the home in the morning (before we actually closed on the home) so the movers could start unloading our belongings.  There have been a couple small issues and they came by almost instantly to resolve them. Very good quality home and very responsive staff.

Mike Kaerek is a builder and he is good. They are great builders. Everyone is very nice and very professional, and they do quality work. A couple of things happened sometimes but they came over and fixed it right away. I know that nothing is perfect but the builder wasn't stealing.

Overall I was happy with the building of our home. There were not really any problems. The only issue that we had was that there was a break in and they did not respond very quickly on fixing the problem. The house needed to be secure and it took them a while to do it. Besides that the quality of the work was great and the workers were all friendly and on time.

I really liked them. Everything went fine. I thought the price was good. It was the price that made us chose this company. We got all the upgrades that we wanted including a paved driveway and landscaping. The inspection was a little slow. I enjoy our home.

WE HAD A HOME BUILT ON A LOT IN ONE OF THEIR SUBDIVISIONS. THINGS WENT BETTER THAN WE THOUGHT THEY WOULD. WE HAD A FEW SNAGS BUT NOTHING LIKE THE HORROR STORIES WE HEARD FROM OTHER PEOPLE WITH OTHER BUILDERS. THEY HAD US IN OUR NEW HOME BY THE DATE WE NEEDED TO BE IN. ANY CONCERNS THAT HAVE COME UP HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED.
