I am so pleased with the outcome - the one day of work, the matching of color to the adjoining room and the overall look that I've decided to not replace the carpet in the last first floor room and instead refinish that room as well. Adam will be back in two weeks.

"After speaking to the technician we both thought this review would have a better grade. We communicated promptly with this customer via several emails before scheduling the service. (Late) As I was dialing the customer tn the customer called into the office 1/2 hour before the scheduled arrival time and we advised him the technician had a 30-35 min drive from the previous customer home. Just in case, we advised he would be at most 5-10mins late. He arrived on time. Someone attempted a resurface on the floors that looked very unprofessional/flawed. We buffed away that coat, leveled the floors and applied 2 new coats that looked like new. When you choose a resurface versus a refinish you are choosing a less expensive , touch up method. This does not warrant the same results as a refinish. In this case due to the technician skill level it turned out "great" The customer said "he liked it". The technicians stick broke so he rushed out to a nearby hardware store and purchased another one (this rarely ever happens) The customer is right the technician should have given an explanation for this prior to leaving. We have made that point clear to the technician also. He hurried back to complete the job in the scheduled time given to the customer. We offer Angie's list customers a discount from our normal rates he saved approx. $100.00. This customers floors turned out really nice especially in comparison to before we worked on them, he has 2 coats that will last a long time, we used a high quality odorless waterborne finish. We feel we earned a better grade but we understand the customer is always right. We appreciate the business. When the reviews are left we have no room for error. We strive for "A" but we can honestly say that is almost unheard of. We will do our very best to obtain an "A" in each and every situation. My only complaint and the only reason I gave them a B for quality - they installed one board that I wouldn't have chosen. We had extra boards that could have been used instead.

They sealed everything when they performed the sanding so the dust was at a minimum. The two man crew worked from the front of the house to the back, where they came in and out of a sliding glass door. They left that door unlocked all three days. There was no way for us to get in and lock it...we stayed at a hotel for 3 nights and during that time our house was unlocked. That didn't give me a great feeling, but nothing happened so I think it was just not done because they couldn't unless they worked the opposite direction.
They showed us several stains (on the sanded floor to really see what it looks like) and we picked one and when done, it did look great.
However, there were some issues that we had to contact them about, some resolved, some were never resolved.
1. They cracked and chipped a board in one room--a 1"x1/4" piece was missing that was there when they started, yet they sanded, stained, varnished, buffed, but never fixed it until we had them come back out over a week and a half later. Surely they saw this multiple times. They fixed it by using a putty. Looks fine. Happy with the result, not that they broke it and didn't say anything or fix it until we asked.
2. We specifically asked if we needed to remove the shoe molding and they told us no. Well in the kitchen, they ended up staining the bottom part of all of the shoe molding for the cabinets which was a totally different color. Looks terrible. After contacting the manager, she said "most customers don't care"!!!!--and wouldn't do anything about it. I'm out the cost of replacing or re-staining myself now. They should have covered the shoe molding or told us to remove it if there was a possibility of ruining the existing color. No resolution, no discount, nothing. Not acceptable.
3. They missed a 1"x2" chunk by our kitchen sink. Entirely. Not even stained. They fixed this when they came back out for our issues, stained it, looks a little different than the rest. Not sure how they heck they missed this....and never bothered to fix it until we asked. Sure it will be OK, but just annoying.
4. There are lines from inconsistent or sloppy staining (they said they use a piece of carpet to stain, not sure if that is standard or what), but there is a dark line, about 1/4" wide in front of the sink all the way across (next to the other issue in #3 above). They said they couldn't do anything about when they came back out, to call the manager. I know why, because it would need to be re-done there. That effort might end up with something even worse mismatched. This odd line is also at the edge of the carpet for the family room, although not as noticeable. I guess I have to let this pass, because I'm not pursuing further (I'm afraid it will be worse). But again, the fact that they just did it, didn't say anything, etc....
In general it was a reasonable effort, but the issues and how they were just ignored, and some things not resolved or discounted at all. I get the impression that they do great rough work, but when it comes to the detailed work, they are less skilled and it shows.
Also, if anyone is interested, the odor from polyurethane oil is pretty rough 1-2 days after (more from the stain), and gets better quickly thereafter, although a week and a half later, you can still smell it, though to me it just smells like a freshly painted smell. Totally livable AFTER they are done, but definitely not while.
I cant say it was a bad experience overall but the lack of detail work makes me hesitant to recommend.....
"FYI this customer floors had many stains and they went many years pass the recommended refinish date. The technicians had there work cut out for them. To expect perfection is impossible unless you maintain the floors. The technicians lifted many water, food, dirt stains. This required excess sanding. The areas he addressed literary was (2) 1/2 inch areas that the technicians went back out to fix. We refinished almost 600 sq ft. and it turned out almost perfect. We complete refinishes everyday most will come out perfect however that will be determined by how well the floors are maintained, how old they are, and the condition. In this case this customer listed quite a lengthy review and it sounds like it was a disaster. In actuality the customers wife was very pleased. The floors looked amazing especially considering the condition and lack of upkeep. A few of his concerns he is guessing inaccurately. Lastly he said he would use our services again. I decided to add to this review so customer will understand you can do an excellent job, be punctual, professional, reasonably priced, and you will never make some customers happy. He listed some concerns that will be addressed with the crew. Its important to our company that customers never feel there business isn't appreciated. Thank you."

"Thank you for your review. In this case the technician reported that the customer was told not to walk on the floors for 4-6 hours. The grit was the same substance found in the customers drive way. He believes the customer walked on the floors prematurely. Never the less the technician went back out free of charge the very next day and did the best to repair the area. The customer said he was very pleased with the outcome. As always we appreciate your business."

"Thank you for your review. After reading the review, with concern I called customer offered full explanation to questions. The layer of dust would have to be extremely thin because the resurface system sucks the dust back in. We did offer the customer a redo of the areas he described as missed spots free of charges. The customer said he would talk it over with his wife and call back. We waited for a couple weeks and never heard back. Its important to us that customers are satisfied and wanted the opportunity to make this customer happier. We also wanted the opportunity to earn a better review, both are important to us.
