Chimney Doctors rebuilt the crown, tuck-pointed the chimney and replaced the flashing around the base. It still seemed strange to me that the flue liner did not reach beyond the roof line. There was a liner within the crown with a gap between it and the rest of the flue liner below. Years later and many fires later I had an inspection done by another chimney contractor. I questioned the way Chimney Doctors had left my chimney. He confirmed I was missing one section of flue liner. It just amazes me that Chimney Doctors would inspect and approve this. I will never use them for any future chimney needs.

Getting the quote was quick and easy, and they offer free 12-month financing. The bid came in higher than I thought it would but it seemed worthwhile to fix. The quote was both for the concrete work as well as a separate option to have a water-resistant coat put on. We went with both options and the work was done quickly, weather-permitting. They even managed to get me in quicker than originally thought due to a cancellation.

We worked with Steve on the quoting process for our chimney repairs while fielding quotes from several businesses.  Of all the service people we worked with, Steve was by far the most polite, prompt, and helpful person.  He's a large reason Chimney Doctors won our business.
We received detailed pictures and explanations of the problems with our chimney, as well as a detailed quote with options to include or not include some repairs.  Again, Steve gave us all the information we needed to make an informed choice.
After putting down the deposit some weeks later, we had to wait a bit to schedule the work, which is our only real gripe.  Still, once it was time for our chimney work to be done, the crew made all the necessary repairs cleanly and quickly, finishing in a day and half.  All of the work was done external to our home, so we were not disturbed in the slightest.  The chimney looks great!
A few weeks later, Mitch came out to clean out the inside of our fireplace and chimney.  Since we had not used this fireplace before, he took the time when he was done to explain some of the features, as well as tips for maintenance.
All in all a great experience.  We would use Chimney Doctors again.

I had four different chimney repair services come out to give me an estimate to repair my chimney. Chimney Doctors was the last contractor I had out to give me an estimate.  The sales/inspector (Steve) asked me questions as to what kind of problems I was having with my chimney.  He brought a ladder and went up on the roof to do a thorough inspection of my chimney as well as my chimney cap. As soon as he finished his inspection he prepared an estimate and explained the services he thought would best fit my needs. After the previous three estimates,  I felt I was getting the most services for my money. The sales rep was professional and his estimate was fair.
Overall I believe the employees who did the work did a great job. My only real concern was with the cap -- within 24 hours after they poured my new cap we had two inches of heavy rain. When the contractor came back to remove the forms that were set for the cap he said that the concrete was still a little wet and would still continue to set up.  From the ground looking up at the cap two of the corners have a funky upward slope to them. I personally think this had something to do with the heavy rain.
However on the positive side I didn't have any water accumulate in the basement flue clean outs!!!
I think the only thing Chimney Doctors could have done better.....
Upon completion of the work performed, I think the sales/ inspector at the very least should give a courtesy call to the customer to see if the customer has any questions or concerns in regard to the work that was performed.

Came one week after I signed quote.
(Had 3 quotes - thought the knowledge and plan repair of this company better than others)
Did not like the fact that the truck that pulled up didn't say Chimney Doctors but rather a vent cleaning service.
(I never know what that means)
Communications with the repair crew were timely and thorough - I knew what was going to happen and when.
Took 2 days.
Used staging for fireplace cap repair.
Fireplace cap was poured and looks better than the original !
Tarps on the roof.
Dust from concrete work on the roof outside of tarp area was washed off.
You could not tell they had been here - after they left !
The mortar/concrete around flu of small chimney wasn't finished properly - in my opinion - possible water leaks.
I called them back and sent photo.
Heard from them on-and-off about promised repair for over two weeks (lot of rain) - until finished with a sealant on 10-08-2013.
I would have expected a more prompt - follow up.
If I would not have been able to go up on the roof and inspect - I don't know that I wouldn't have had leaks.
I would still use them again in the future, however, compared to the other's I quoted.

They are just the absolute best. They show up on time. They explain to you what they are going to do every single day. They also informed me of some things to do to upkeep the porch. They are also now coming back in a few weeks to do more work for me. I wished Angie's List would let me give them an A+.

The installation went great, and we were impressed with the result. Our previous chimney cap had been steadily falling apart for a few years. The new chimney cap looks so much nicer than the old one, and the tuckpointing really cleaned up our masonry. The crew kept the site clean despite having to knock out chunks of old cap. I would recommend their services.

They did a very good job and were very efficient. They were also very clean and cleaned up after themselves. Their price was well within reason and they were reliable.

The estimate was very competitive with other estimates we obtained.  Bill (the owner) came to my home to do estimate and was very thorough and honest.  I felt very comfortable with him and felt that he would ensure the job was done right.  They were able to do the work in a very timely manner and the workmanship was excellent.  I have a 1938 cream city brick home and they matched the mortar perfectly.  You cannot even tell which areas were just fixed.  I would definitely use this company again and have been recommending them to my neighbors and friends.
