We received detailed pictures and explanations of the problems with our chimney, as well as a detailed quote with options to include or not include some repairs. Again, Steve gave us all the information we needed to make an informed choice.
After putting down the deposit some weeks later, we had to wait a bit to schedule the work, which is our only real gripe. Still, once it was time for our chimney work to be done, the crew made all the necessary repairs cleanly and quickly, finishing in a day and half. All of the work was done external to our home, so we were not disturbed in the slightest. The chimney looks great!
A few weeks later, Mitch came out to clean out the inside of our fireplace and chimney. Since we had not used this fireplace before, he took the time when he was done to explain some of the features, as well as tips for maintenance.
All in all a great experience. We would use Chimney Doctors again.
Overall I believe the employees who did the work did a great job. My only real concern was with the cap -- within 24 hours after they poured my new cap we had two inches of heavy rain. When the contractor came back to remove the forms that were set for the cap he said that the concrete was still a little wet and would still continue to set up. From the ground looking up at the cap two of the corners have a funky upward slope to them. I personally think this had something to do with the heavy rain.
However on the positive side I didn't have any water accumulate in the basement flue clean outs!!!
I think the only thing Chimney Doctors could have done better.....
Upon completion of the work performed, I think the sales/ inspector at the very least should give a courtesy call to the customer to see if the customer has any questions or concerns in regard to the work that was performed.
(Had 3 quotes - thought the knowledge and plan repair of this company better than others)
Did not like the fact that the truck that pulled up didn't say Chimney Doctors but rather a vent cleaning service.
(I never know what that means)
Communications with the repair crew were timely and thorough - I knew what was going to happen and when.
Took 2 days.
Used staging for fireplace cap repair.
Fireplace cap was poured and looks better than the original !
Tarps on the roof.
Dust from concrete work on the roof outside of tarp area was washed off.
You could not tell they had been here - after they left !
The mortar/concrete around flu of small chimney wasn't finished properly - in my opinion - possible water leaks.
I called them back and sent photo.
Heard from them on-and-off about promised repair for over two weeks (lot of rain) - until finished with a sealant on 10-08-2013.
I would have expected a more prompt - follow up.
If I would not have been able to go up on the roof and inspect - I don't know that I wouldn't have had leaks.
I would still use them again in the future, however, compared to the other's I quoted.
