I have to say this was a great experience
I had a basement remodel done . I wanted a certain type of ceramic flooring called dura ceramic. I went in to carpet factory outlet met with a very nice man named Ed. He was very helpful on what I wanted. He also proved the price was better than the big box stores! I was amazed! As this was very expensive flooring!
When I am ready for more flooring I will be going back to carpet factory outlet and asking for Ed!
The carpet install was completed successfully and to my satisfaction of two days as scheduled/ The only issue is that the door to the office no longer opens/closes because it needs to be shaved and this was not completed at the time of the install. I have was satisfied with the carpet, so I went back to contract them for a kitchen floor.
The approximately 225 Sq.Ft flooring job was scheduled for one day and ended up taking two FULL days (11 hours the first day and 7 ½ hours the second) because they were not prepared for the job.
I had informed the owner, Dave, that there were two layers of old tile that would need to come up. He apparently had only planned to remove one layer, so when the install started, the guys realized that that both layers would need to come up. They did not come prepared with the new subflooring that was included in the contract, so they had to go purchase it which took 3 hours when it should have taken only one. Then there was a run to the shop to get the correct adhesive and another for sealant. At 9:30p.m., they left for the day with only the subfloor installed. We decided that they should come back the following day, to complete the job. The job was not completed until 6:30 the following night.
They promised to return the third day to trim down the doors that no longer open with the new floor, including the one that became a problem after the carpet install. That never happened.
The install guys were very nice and very apologetic, but that does not get my time back. My plans for both evenings had to be canceled since they were still working. After much debate, I called the owner to tell him I was not happy. He made some weak apologies, but followed them up with excuses saying that ?you never know how long a job is going to take? and removing the second layer of tile was the problem, but again it was my understanding that both would have been removed all along. He promised to talk to the guys about the length of time it took to get supplies and have them return to shave the doors but I will take care of it myself rather than waste more time waiting. The floor does look great, although there is a bubble in it. He told me to ?give the bubble a few days to go down? and call him if it doesn?t.
In my opinion, Dave really made no attempt to reconcile my disappointment or to compensate me for my time. I am sure that has something to do with the fact that I have paid them in full to have the floors in my entire house carpeted or tiled and am no longer a potential customer.
1/10/15: UPDATE Carpet Factory did send someone out to the house to trim the doors that no longer opened after the floor and carpet install. The man was very nice and I am satisfied with the resolution of that issue. I was told to notify Carpet Factory if the small "bubbles" in the kitchen floor are still a problem in a few weeks.
