Sump pump cracked. Called plumber and the man on the phone said they could come out and take a look at it, $59.00 for the visit. Plumber comes and lets me know that the sump pump casing is cracked and will require replacing. She says she can replace it with a 1/3rd hp sump pump she had on the truck and could install it now, then let me know the cost; $1,613.00. They will not tell me what portion is the pump cost vs the labor. I decided to pass and do some research before I would pay that much. Time to go shopping. * 1/2 hp sump pump (larger than the 1/3 hp Bowmann was going to replace mine with): $179.00 * Quick connect sump discharge pipe: $34.98 * 1 roll PTFE plumber’s tape: $0.89 Total bill with tax: $227.55 Time to install it. My neighbor picks up the pump and heads to my house. Remove old pump, cut pvc to new length, lower new pump into sump, fill sump with buckets of water to test float. TOTAL TIME TO DO ALL OF THIS: under 1 hour!

"I am not a member and do not monitor Sites. The $59 service got a professional into your basement, examined the non working pump, determined that the pump was not serviceable, and got a quote for the licensed contractor to immediately remove and install a pump that we brought with us for you. Thank you, Ernie, for acknowledging our service. The decision to do the shopping, provide parts, and install was completely yours."

Couldn't clear a clogged pipe. She left and said everything is good, but the sink was still backed up, then told us to put nair down the drain. Charged $637 and we still have a clogged pipe. Feels like we've been scammed. She has a talk track down, seems like they get a lot of disappointed customers and they know just want to say.

For a single faucet replacement that took 2 hours we paid 637 dollars for labor alone. That is about $300/hour. We did not have accessories installed just a faucet. It was not an after hours or emergency call.
Response from Bohmann Plumbing Inc
"There is no one here monitoring "sites" so things can sit for years. We always try to write a contract including the scope of work, any peices and any thing else like " owner to allow access for the inspector before patching the wall". With the contract signed and paid, its up to us than to work to the extent contracted. We did, we were not authorized to move the drain cleaning from the bathroom to the basement and do more work. Note: As Plumbers this is a method that Plumbers help determine which and when pipes should be replaced."

Mr. Bohman was prompt in returning my call and responded the next day for our appointment on time. We had a leak in our ceiling, which he quickly traced to a pipe in the wall behind our kitchen sink. Up to this point, the experience was excellent. Mr. Bohman was courteous. Mr. Bohman continued to suggest that there were two options: tape the pipe, or replace every single pipe in the house. Obviously, two extremes. And he was unwilling to perform the patch job. Likewise, he would not suggest or recommend any middle ground. The work he recommended required removing walls and cabinets in two bathrooms and a kitchen and would cost thousands of dollars. I paid Mr. Bohman his "trip charge" and thanked him for his diagnosis which I'm sure had some value. But then, I called another plumber who came the next day and fixed the leaky pipe and nearby pipes for only $200. TOTAL (including trip charge). Problem solved. Perhaps if you want to update all your old plumbing, Mr. Bohman is your guy. I found what I believe to be a more reasonable and cost-effective approach to the repair.
Response from Bohmann Plumbing Inc
"I again thank Mr. [Member Name Removed] for paying this trained, and licensed Master plumber for his expert opinion. Yes Angies listers you can always "find a guy". Quality of work, there was no work done . A leak was located. Quality and long term service was discussed. life expectancy, safety, ages of differing failed and failing waste and even 1920s water pipe. Mr. [Member Name Removed] sought an option and opinion this Contractor was not comfortable offering. Thats ok. None of this was D professionalism."

they charged me a $59 service and explained that is would be $244 to do what is probably 15 minutes of work. Absolute scam. Do not use.
Response from Bohmann Plumbing Inc
"No service was performed, Customer was quoted a service and price of said service, customer became angry, threatening, told us to get out , we could not finish the service call charge with tax, just shown the door and told to get out. Customer was on the phone to office before we were out the drive, more anger and threats. The next morning I found this "review" forwarded to me, tried to call customer, left a message requesting a conversation and as of this writing six days later the educated professional has not returned my call. Customer claimed after our visit, to have called another and been phone quoted less charge. How does having a higher price than another become a scam? There was no work done , we were on site within two hours of his call, ready willing and able to resolve a plumbing issue."

I was charged about $650 for a $200 repair. They charge by tier - offering full service all the way down to "quick fix" or something like that. Even the quick fix is way more expensive than it should be. Also, the technician clogged the sink and then charged me to fix it. I had no choice at the time as this was a rental property. I called the owner and he was extremely rude to me and hung up on me as I was trying to explain the situation. I can't imagine this experience going much worse. I cannot say enough bad things about this company.

While driving to work I got a call from a female tenant at a rental property I own.  She said the sump pump was running continuously and would not shot off.  I didn't have time to search Angies List for a plumber so I asked her to find a plumber and I would reimburse her for the cost of what should be a minor repair.  She contacted B. Bohmann Plumbing because their ad showed only a $69 service call.

I was shocked when I saw the bill.  The total was $302.90   They replaced the float which I saw at an Ace hardware for $20 and my tenant said the plumber was only there about 15 minutes.  On the invoice they did not itemize the cost of the part or the labor charge.  In addition when I looked at the sales tax it seemed too high.  When I calculated the 5.6% sales tax I found they had over charged on the sales tax by $31 dollars.

I called the company to request a refund on  the sales tax (which I received a week later)  but when I told him I felt my female tenant had been over charged for the service provided he hung up the phone on me.

I don't trust Bohmann Plumbing and I would recommend avoiding them.

Response from Bohmann Plumbing Inc
"Mr. [Member Name Removed] tenant requested service. Bohmann Plumbing dispatched a plumber within minutes of receiving the request. Our plumber spent one and one half hours on this service call. He offered Mr. [Member Name Removed] authorized agent several options or levels of repair. She chose the level of service and warranty (90 days) that she wanted. We performed the repair on the spot with parts that we pre-purchase and stock on our service van. Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s authorized agent signed and acknowledged satisfactory completion of the agreed work and made payment. The whole process was completed within hours of the request for service. Our book keeper processed the work order and found an error in the sales tax calculation. We processed a refund and sent it with a letter of apology. Please note that Mr. [Member Name Removed] has no complaint about the speed or the quality of the service he received. His only complaint seems to be that his tenant spent too much money on the repair. Once the work to be done is agreed upon, performed, and paid for, it is too late to re-negotiate the price. Perhaps Mr. [Member Name Removed] should be personally involved in hiring service contractors if he feels that his female tenants are unqualified to make those decisions."

Pros:
* I called after hours, and someone answered the phone and they were able to send someone out the next day.
* The day of, they called again to confirm the appointment.
* The individual who performed the work seemed very knowledgable about plumbing.
Cons:
* When I called, I let them know that I had to leave no later than 10:30 the following morning. They indicated that shouldn't be a problem, and my appointment was set for 8:30am. Instead, I received a confirmation call at 8:30am, and the individual arrived about 20 minutes later.
* The plumber that came took a long time diagnosing and explaining the potential things going on - to me, this was just a clogged drain, but to him the clog could be down into my "stack", which he showed me in the basement, which would cost more to fix. I needed the clog removed, so I appreciated the explanation, but it didn't really matter - the clog was a problem that had to be fixed. He then indicated that it was unlikely that the clog went down that far (mind you, this was before ever looking at my bathtub). He also discussed that since I used drano, my piping could have holes in them and then we'd need to open up the ceiling, replace the pipes, etc. This seemed overkill for the situation, but I had to decide what "package" of services to purchase before he even looked at my bathtub and started working on it. To me, that's a bad business model. I picked the lowest priced package for snaking a drain, but what if I picked something more without knowing any better? I would've paid - in advance - for work I didn't need. Not okay!
* He showed me the pricing options. As a member of Angie's List, I should've looked here first even though we were in a time crunch. I had received something in the mail, so I figured new company in the neighborhood, let's try it out. The lowest price was $363 - to snake a drain!!! I have never hired a plumber before, so I didn't really know any better. My dad has always taken care of these things for me, but he was unavailable. Now after doing some research on Angie's List, I'm seeing prices from $100-$250 to fix a clogged drain, so I feel pretty robbed. The service comes with a 6 month warranty, so maybe that's how it's priced so high, but even still. The work took a total of 20 minutes, and I had a $20 off coupon. Most lawyers don't get paid $400/30 minutes.
* It became clear that my timeline was not communicated to the individual who came to my house. He was very chatty. I let him know twice that I needed to get going, but I still ended up leaving late. And, because it was super rushed at the end, the bathroom was not cleaned up well.

We were told there is a $59 charge to come to the house which would be applied to work.  The plumber quoted us $690, at which point we stupidly agreed.  The job took less than an hour.  First round was not done well and we had to call Bohmann to have another plumber come and fix.  Afterwards, we checked and discovered that we were WAY overcharged.  We ended up not liking that faucet and paid $49 to another plumber to switch them out last week.
Response from Bohmann Plumbing Inc
"it is hard for this contractor responding , after finding this 12/17 three years after it was written and four years after the work was done, to believe that 700$ of work and materials were discarded and replaced for 49$. ? The copy of the work order states to remove the existing faucet and install a "customer provided" faucet. $573.00 plus tax All without any contact to this contractor. HMMM."

The plumber came out and we walked through the work that was needed (similar to what would happen on an estimate). The plumber wrote up the invoice and I commented on how expensive it was. He said that the installation of the wall mounted faucet was very complicated. An hour and a half later the plumber was done with all of his work. I was shocked! I just wrote a check for $1,150 and he was done in an hour and a half. If the job was so complicated I would have thought it would have taken longer.

I called and spoke with the owner questioning this invoice and that if this was so complicated I would have thought it would have taken longer.  He didn't care what I said and arrogantly told me this was a fair price.  I can't believe I was charged $460 per hour (including estimate) or $700 per hour of work actually performed.  He said they didn't charge by the hour but look out, that is what I paid!  He also didn't care that I was going to be giving him an awful rating on Angie's List or that I planned on filing a complaint with NARI.

Bottom line - I was price gouged! I won't use this plumber again!
Update - Please Consumers - Review all of the other reviews this plumber has on the Internet from other consumers.  This plumber has negative price gouging reviews from every review websites that I found on the Internet.  For Example - Google, Yahoo, Rip off Report.com, CitySearch, Insider Pages, Yelp, Superpages etc.  This isn't just me it is many other consumers that have gotten scammed by this unprofessional plumber.

Response from Bohmann Plumbing Inc
"This complaint is nothing but buyers remorse and blackmail. Our company does contracting. She knew exactly what was going to be done and exactly what the total cost would be before we did any work. She agreed to the contract and made payment. We fulfilled the contract and completed the job. After the work was done and the plumber had left, she decided that she was entitled to a lower price. She informed us that she would make our company look bad if we didn't pay her off and listed all the places where she would bad mouth us. Note: she has no complaint about the quality of the job done just the price. As a commercial real estate salesperson for Caldwell Banker knows and understands contracts. I doubt that she would reduce the price of a property after the closing."

The last time we used them was about 4-5 years ago when we had our water heater replaced. Brian Bohlman sent out two guys to do it. The job went fine, but we were suprised when we saw the bill of $1200.00. The water heater only cost $350.00. Also, when they installed the water heater, they had it rotated so the pilot light window was facing the wall. It was almost impossible to see in the little window when seeing if the pilot light was out or when we were re-lighting it. We didn't notice that until years later when the pilot light went out. Just this last week, the water heater Bohlman Plumbing installed 5 years ago started to leak and needed to be replaced already. I called someone else and he came out and replaced it with a Rheem water heater with a 9 year guarantee, rotated the water heater so the pilot light window is very accessible, plus fixed some other gas leaks that he found and sealed the vent to the chimney which hadn't been done for many years. His bill was $979.00. We used to use Bohman Plumbing as our primary plumber for many years, but when they expanded their business, their prices also expanded dramatically. After a couple of bills that we felt were out of line for the services rendered (water heater, kitchen faucet, upstairs bathroom) we looked for someone else.
Response from Bohmann Plumbing Inc
"Hello: to my memory, the backward water heater was installed exactly as the previous heater was, to not have to risk causing more damage to an already fragile plumbing system, if the heater began leaking at or before six years, the MFR. would have provided a free replacement. Yes much of the work I did for this customer seemed to cost more because the age, condition of the plumbing , and design of the house prevented conventional efforts. three steps forward one back. I resolved many plumbing design issues and modernized much of the mess that previous generations left this one."

They were prompt, responsive and did a very good job. My old water heater was 30 years old and it was not functioning. H checked it up and said that he has to replace it with a new one. I was satisfied and pleased with their service.

Except for my "chatty-Cathy" discourse, Brian really answered all of my questions. And this is the "kicker", when the Milwaukee City Inspectors came in and I reported that Bohmann Plumbing did the work, the Inspector just glanced at the work and left. I asked why they didn't do a more thorough inspection and he replied," Don't have to...his name/work speaks for itself!".

Joe the plumber told us cartridge for kitchen faucet no longer were made but upon my call to Moehn found it was and I ordered. Plumber more eager to sell new faucet than to assist in repair. When jobs allegedly over we find the half bath drain plug did not fully hold water in basin and the plumber went back to work on it. When water that had been turned off was turned back on, there was little water pressure and no hot water. Turns out plumber had turned off valve and forgot that he had, asking me if I had. While hardly aware of proper pricing, 700 dollars for this work seemed over the top. McCain needn't worry about Joe, he's doing quite well.

I called the company Friday and was surprised that they'd be able to come the following day. Their quote, based on a review of the bathroom, was based on 2 items they'd be installing. They worked from about 8 a.m. to about 2 p.m., then left w/o completing the job, saying they had an emergency sewer clean-out to perform. Most of the work was complete, but they didn't cover two holes in the bathroom wall which they had filled with plumber's putty; the faceplate for the shower control was crooked; there were broken tiles in the shower; and they hadn't told us (or asked us in advance) about the huge hole they'd smashed in the bedroom wall for access to the piping. We tried to get them to come back to finish the job but they avoided our phone calls. When we (incorrectly but we were at our wits' end) canceled payment on their check to get their attention, instead of calling us, they referred the account to a collection agency. Work is still incomplete, but we had to pay collection fees!
