"Thanks, [Member Name Removed]. I enjoyed meeting you. Now you're on your way with your remodeling and design ideas. - Marianne"
1. INABILITY TO UNDERSTAND AND ZERO IN ON MY NEEDS REGARDING PRODUCTS, AND DESIGN AND COLOR ASPECTS FOR THE PROJECT
From the outset, I told Marianne that I wanted porcelain tile flooring and Cambria quartz countertops, yet she wasted time and money pursuing granite, silestone and other inappropriate products. Her disorganized, and quot;hit and missand quot; approach with products and vendors was inefficient, ineffective and costly.
2. INABILITY TO SECURE APPROPRIATE SUBCONTRACTORS
- Marianne put together a deal for appliances with a company that I subsequently investigated and found that they had a bad business rating and customer service reputation. On my own, I secured a better deal from a top-rated appliance dealer.
- Marianne brought out to my home a painter and cabinetmaker who couldn't do the job I wanted. Since she didn't prequalify my needs and scope of the project with them, it turned out to be a waste of time and money for me and the subcontractors. On my own, I was able to secure multiple companies for consideration to do exactly what I wanted.
3. INABILITY TO MANAGE THE PROJECT
When working with Marianne, there never seemed to be a professional, organized progression of activities, including timelines, to complete the project. Rather, she took a casual, and quot;let's go shopping and see what we findand quot; approach, going back to the same companies over and over again. After 1 month, her lack of business and design skills required for my remodeling project were clearly evidenced and turned out to be a horribly costly, inefficient, ineffective, and unproductive project failure for me.
I was charged $1,800.00 for paperwork, phone calls, and shopping and received nothing of substance in return. I would never recommend doing business with Marianne Kohlmann and Blue Hot Design, which I believe should be renamed Blue Hot Mess.
My husband and I met with Marianne on two different occasions--initially to tell her what we had in mind and for her to assess and photograph the room. The second time she came back with detailed drawings and to help us select our tile, granite, vanity, towel racks, light fixture etc. She was invaluable in so many ways--she did the legwork of visiting the showrooms, brought samples back for our selections (based on our stated preferences), and offered design solutions that gave us practical advantages like added electrical outlets and more storage. From there she coordinated the selections with the remodeler, which removed one more step from our to-do list.
Marianne was punctual, professional, and had great ideas, but didn't push them on us if we decided on something different. Her eye for color, texture, and proportion is incredible. I know we're going to wind up with a gorgeous bathroom. I can highly recommend Blue Hot Design.
She took time to understand our needs and provided the direction and resources we were looking for.
