BBC LIGHTING & SUPPLY

Stacey helped me find two fixtures for my kitchen and one for the family room. She was very patient in helping me make my selections.

BBC is one of my favorite stores in Milwaukee!  
Where else can you go to pick out a light for your hall and also browse through an eclectic selection of vintage and modern nicknacks, sports memorabilia, old arcade fixtures (mechanical horse, turnstile, pinball machine, etc) that are tucked around the store.  There is a free popcorn truck for your snacking needs.
The non-lighting items don't get in the way of the main mission of BBC, which is to sell a wide variety of lighting at discount prices. The lights range from inexpensive to high-end, traditional to extreme modern.   Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. We have been completely satisfied with the service and with the many items we've bought here.
Perhaps I shouldn't mention that in addition to a lot of lighting we also have bought a scale model of Lambeau Field, a handmade metal house on stilts, and a stained glass lamp in the shape of a bull lit from within.

I    went to BBC with my house plans to determine the lighting I would need   f or my new home.  The associate walked me thru everything and helped me
determine what I would need as far as lights, fans, etc.
for every room in my new house.  Showed me different styles, prices,
etc.  They gave me excellent customer service and spent a lot of time
with me looking at my house plans to get everything right.  They stored
my lighting till the time came to install everything.  They delivered
the lighting in perfect condition.  I was very pleased and still use
them for my lighting needs.  Going to BBC is an interesting experience
and the free popcorn is great!

Everything we wanted was in-stock. We took it home same-day. We'll be back for future purchases.

The whole process was exhausting and overwhelming because of the amount of fixtures we needed. Michael made it a lot easier. He even suggested cheaper pieces for some of the rooms so we could get some more expensive fixtures we really liked. Their prices are very competitive (I checked and compared with online stores) and they can get anything even if they don't have it in stock. The only thing is that you will have to wait a few weeks to get it.

When I was looking at the fans the salesman told me that if I want to use the remote with the wall switch that I should get the latest model of motor.  He knew so much about the Casablanca Fans and provided me with great advice.  Since the color of motor I wanted was not in stock at BBC, he ordered the motor for me.  He had told me that it should be in around 5 days from the next Tuesday.  It actually came in 2.5 weeks after I was there to order it, and I would have been happier if he had given me an estimate of 2 weeks versus the shorter time period.  It didn't really matter to me, but I was just a bit anxious thinking that they were unable to contact me.  

In the end I got all of the parts and had it installed.  It looks great and I really like the ability to use both the remote and the wall switch.  I am so glad I took the salesman's advice.

When we remodeled our kitchen and powder room our contractor refered us to BBC Lighting. It's quite a distance to drive there for us, but, since we trusted our contractor, we went there. The building is not impressive at all. No huge glass windows to show off their wares. But, I suspect that keeps the over head down. The selection is excellent. Although there are a few novelty items, I didn't feel like I was surrounded by "kitch." Sales people were extremely helpful. We found what we wanted there: three pendant lamps, dining room chandelier, and bathroom wall fixture. We had to go pick them up, although they would have delivered for a charge. They had to order a couple of them but held everything until they had our entire order. Very nice to deal with.

They were good. We bought a clock that didn’t have directions. So, the lady in the store, Deb, gave us the name of somebody. That person didn’t work out for directions. They had to spring it back and they went over things with us. We were very satisfied. She took that extra step.

I've visited the location approximately 5 times and purchased items during 2 of those visits. The sales staff have generally been knowledgeable and helpful. On one occasion however, I was significantly disappointed with the service. I had selected two un-boxed outdoor lights for purchase and brought them to the counter. The clerk examined the lights and asked if I was aware of the light sensor on each lamp. I indicated that I was aware-it was a factor in the product selection. After continually examining one particular lamp, he dropped it and broke a glass piece. I asked if he was planning to repair it-he stated that he wouldn't and advised that I take it to a glass repair shop. He asked if I still wanted the lamp. I did not. This was a disappointing event, since I had spent some time and effort in selecting the appropriate fixtures for the my home.

They were helpful in picking out the lights. They delivered right on schedule and the lights look great. Their prices were below other suppliers we compared with same lights.

BBC was recommended for lamp repair by numerous electricians so we felt comfortable taking the lamp to them. I took the lamp in & spoke to Mike who instructed me to remove all of the bulbs. Took about a month to fix it. When I picked it up I was shocked by how scratched & dented the finish was; I had just painted it, so it was clear they had damaged it. I figured I could paint it again, so I overlooked it & paid. We brought it home and realized that sockets, though brand new, still spun around in place. Mike told me originally they had to be replaced BECAUSE of the spinning. The switch did not work and worst of all, the sockets were positioned incorrectly. The 5" globes were supposed to fit flush to the housing, but the way it was wired they were hanging out way too far. (Remember I was told to remove the bulbs!) It looked ridiculous. Took it back and weeks later was fixed again. It was even more scratched up and the new cord was positioned in wonky fashion. Works, but we're not happy.

It took them 2 and a half months to repair my lamp. When I received the lamp it was so badly damaged that it was honestly unusable. It was a metal lamp that was really nice with a Swedish design. It's so hard to damage a metal lamp. The black finish had been scraped off and was showing the silver metal underneath. It looked like it had been thrown into a bin of other metal objects. They said it would be fixed in 3 weeks. I called 3 weeks after dropping it off and they could not find it. In the end I ended up leaving it there and not paying for the service. The owner did offer to make a deal with me, but that was only after I asked for his name and told him I was going to Angie's List. I asked him 3 times for his name and he never gave it to me.

The prices for repair of the lamps amazed me; they were extremely reasonable, and the quality was excellent. Staff also completed most of the work earlier than anticipated, fixing one lamp while I stood there. They also called me to explain a delay with repair for one of the lamps, which I appreciated. As noted elsewhere, the presence of the numbers of whimsical characters and artifacts scattered about the store makes a return trip a joy in and of itself. The limited parking lot, and the limited space for on-street parking makes going here a challenge at certain times of the day! Wait time at the check-out desk can become lengthy when the store is full of people making purchases and picking up items from repair.

The staff were helpful in making selections that would meet our specific needs, and the prices were excellent, compared to other lamp stores we had visited. The store is ususally packed, as is the small parking lot, leading to the one drawback: the wait time at check-out. The wait is made easier by two unexpected and pleasurable discoveries, including the hugh array of whimsical and playful equipment, statues, posters, pictures, and other artifacts scattered all about the store, and the popcorn machine, complete with free popcorn.

I took two lamps in for repair on January 26 - one with a simple switch re-assembly, the other with unknown problem. I did not get them back until March 4. I was told the second lamp had a bad transformer, which could not be repaired. For a month, every time I called to see if the lamps were ready, I was told nobody had looked at them yet. I was told, in one call, that any new sales or other retail sales would take precedent over repairs, and they couldn't guarantee when they would get to it. If they would have had the courtesy to tell me this when I brought the lamps in, I'd have gone elsewhere. It shouldn't take 5 weeks to do a simple $8 repair job.

VERY HELPFUL AND PATIENT DESPITE IT BEING A BUSY SATURDAY. WE EXPLAINED WHAT WE NEEDED AND WERE OFFERED VARIOUS OPTIONS. WE CAME AWAY VERY SATISFIED.

MIKE WAS GREAT. HE WAS ABLE TO MAKE THE REPAIR ON THE SPOT, THOUGH IT NORMALLY TAKES LONGER. I WAS DONE IN A HALF HOUR. VERY INEXPENSIVE. EXCELLENT WORK. REALLY PLEASANT TOO!

WE HAD TO ORDER AND THE SALESMAN DID NOT CALL US AS PROMISED WHEN THE ORDER CAME IN. WE HAD TO RESCHEDULE OUR ELECTRICIAN TWO TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS. THEY OFFER A GREAT SELECTION OF LIGHTS AND MANY OTHER THINGS. I WOULD SHOP THERE AGAIN, BUT WOULD USE A DIFFERENT SALES PERSON. DO NOT TRUST THEM TO CALL YOU, CALL REPEATEDLY TO CHECK ON INCOMING ORDER.

WE RECOMMEND SALESPERSON DIANNE TURTENWALD. SHE IS CLEARLY INTERESTED IN SELLING YOU SOMETHING YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE AND WILL GO THE EXTRA MILE TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO. OTHER STAFF MEMBERS WEREN'T QUITE AS WILLING TO 'SELL' US SOMETHING.
